Doctor Strange Casting Poll

I'm pretty sure the announcement of Dempsey as Stephen Strange will come within the next few weeks, if not days.

Do the math:
1. Dempsey has campaigned actively to Marvel Studios for the role in recent weeks.
2. Stan Lee, within the last week or two, mentions that Dr. Strange is likely to be the next Marvel Studios character.
3. Today, Dempsey announces that he's leaving Grey's Anatomy, and that he has no intention of doing more rom-com movies, and that he pictures himself doing action movies instead.

I think Marvel Studios is tickled pink to not have to do a casting call for this one. And if Mustafa's similar campaign for Luke Cage is a success as well, I'd look for other actors to start beating down Marvel's door for the next big role.

Unfortunately that isn't the way the world works.
Marvel Studios realizes these are huge financial investments, they really must be made to believe that this will be the person to grab the worlds attention and make said role into an icon.

I don't think just anyone campaigning for a role will get one, no. Of course not.

But I think there's a huge diff between a guy who does Old Spice commercials fishing for a role, versus a guy who's box office gold and a megacelebrity fishing for a role.

And again, you put the pieces of the puzzle together and look at what Dempsey is saying and what Marvel is saying and it's pretty damn clear that they're on the same page. (Unlike the Mustafa situation, where there's no indication whatsoever that Marvel is interested in his pitch, or that they're even interested in pulling Cage out of development hell since the John Singleton/Tyrese opening shots, years ago.)

I'd assume they'd go a little older for Dr.Strange if they are to immerse him directly into the ongoing MCU.

they aren't that far apart: Robert (46) Fiennes (41) but then again Ralph is 48. So I guess they could do a younger Strange (Joseph) at first but as he progressed he got more advanced in the arts which brings him to the present time (Ralph).

When "McDreamy" is on Entertainment Tonight and Extra virtually twice a week, he qualifies as a megaceleb. And yeah, bringing in a decidedly more female crowd to a Marvel movie couldn't hurt the box office...it's time to start giving women a reason to want to go to CBMs.

But for the record: Dempsey isn't *my* first choice for Strange at all. I just think that recent news show the stars aligning for him. I equate it with the RDJ situation --- Downey probably *wasn't* at the top of the casting director's list for IM, but when a star pushes that hard for the role, it's hard for a fledgling studio like Marvel to say no.

You shouldn't laugh.... Mishapen Face Syndrome is a very serious condition. Millions of people suffer across the globe from an offkilter face to head ratio. Studies suggest it is caused by prolonged exposure to British Cinema.

I don't see how he doesn't look the part, with dyed black and white hair Ethan would look closer to this...

not to mention he's a fine character actor and would have great chemistry with the rest of the actors already cast, if he were to appear in an Avengers film.

I admit, Johnny Depp would be the most ideal, but I don't like getting my hopes too high.
