the MCU needs variety, i'd be all for a british Doctor Strange.

also while i'm at it, Timothy Olyphant for Luthor

Wow Owen never came to mind as a choice for Strange, that'd be great.

Here's my post from 2008. I stand by it.

:D

Holy crap....Brosnan looks more like a conquistador or a Civil War general there than anything else. Pretty sure Pierce would make a good Strange, but just not with *that* beard.

vs.

Baron Mordo

Brosnan would be a good Doctor Strange.

Seeing as so many people are throwing up British and Irish actors I'm guessing they might be ok with it

Really love your Mordo Franklin.

Ha! Yeah. I just wanted to show a pic that didn't make you think of Bond immediately.

Brosnan would be good. But I think Bardem was born to play Mordo. He could beef up a bit. I liked how the animated movie turned the disciples into "battle" mages. I could see him swinging a magical blade as Mordo.

Throw in Michael Dorn as the voice of Dormammu.

Pierce Brosnan would be perfect. He reminds me a lot of how Strange looks and is written, especially in current comics. Also, I like that he's older. Johnny Depp would be cool too. Patrick Dempsey? ...Well, he'd definitely look the part with a mustache. I haven't seen a whole lot of what he's done, I don't watch Grey's Anatomy, I've only seen him in Transformers 3 and Enchanted. I can't say what he's capable of. Who knows he might surprise us if he's cast. I wouldn't put money on it anything though, haha.

i suggested sheen but i chose him because he is a good actor and can do an american accent. not sure i would want a british dr strange.

It's a big thread but has anyone suggested Guy Pearce. He puls off American well and is a phenominal actor. Also younger than most of the other suggestions and probably more practical than Depp, unless Burton or Verbinsky are directing ;)

Gary Oldmen would nail it! Such a great actor and he's got Daniel Radcliff's approval :woot:

I am a HUGE Oldman fan but honestly he is a little old for this role for my tastes. However, I would not lose sleep if he was cast ;)

Guy Pearce is a good suggestion, he would be quite good.

I would rather not have Brosnan for Strange. He was always a little stiff as Bond, and a bit stiff in his other roles as well.

If we're casting that old, then I would rather see someone like John Glover.

I've always imagined Strange old. Don't know why. I wouldn't panic if Jude Law was cast, though from what I've heard he is a bit of a bottom.

Strange is old now...but he was a brash and arrogant young surgeon when the accident happens

oldman would be great if they went older with the character, which might be a good idea. say they decide to adapt Brian K. Vaughns "The Oath" for the movie, having flashbacks to his past, maybe cast a younger strange for those scenes. it would definitely be change for the MU having two actors portray the same hero at different points in their career.

I'd like that. Though they would have to make sure it didn't confuse people, especialy non-comic readers.

I think they need to go with a 35-40 yr old or so Strange. He would still be older than most heroes in the universe but not too old. At 35-40 he could still be made to look younger or older with effects as the story called for if they used flashbacks.

I can understand that too. Eh, I don't mind, as long as they do the Strange justice.:woot:

Bumping this thread back up, on news that Disney just staked out a domain name for "drstrangesoundtrack.com" and "doctorstrangesoundtrack.com," along with soundtrack domains for several other more officially officialler Marvel props like Avengers, IM3 and Thor 2.

Sounds like the Dr. Strange film can officially move out of the realm of Rumors and Someday onto the Marvel fast track, making it more likely that this one will be one of the two 2014 releases.

I'm still liking Guy Pearce for this role, assuming that they wont get Depp or Mortensen ;0)

Gary Oldman would be amazing. can't say I'm very interested in the idea of a younger version of Strange.

Fingers crossed that this movie will be announced be sure thing at NYCC. I'm for an older Strange as he's always been in the comics except when covering his younger years as a surgeon. The actor needs to be one that could look younger when needed. I love Oldman but I think he's looking too old for this these days. A Clive Owen type may be good for this.

hopefully there is movement on this, and maybe a solid cast/script in place by this time next year..

I'm also hope that this project moves forward. From all the characters introduction movie they plan to do, this is the one I'm most looking forward to being made.
