Not anymore buddy. I'll give you some of the earlier films, but stupid R n B dancing in a silly fat suit and being insane do not equal charisma. It's not about playing a character that other characters on screen like, but playing a character that audiences like. Nowadays, he's just crazy Tom Cruise.

I still love him in the grittier films, like Minority Report, Last Samurai, Vanilla Sky, I think he's great in those films, but any comedy sort of thing where we're meant to like him? No way. He's like Russell Crowe. He's fine when he's kicking arse, but doing the wet, foppish romantic comedy work is truly vomit inducing.

Tom Cruise is Charisma. He puts butts in seats and money into.....whatever it is the Scientologists put money into.

Does he do this because he's handsome? No. Handsome actors are a dime a dozen in Hollywood. He does it because he's got Charisma. Is he crazy? F**k yeah. Guy should probably be locked up. But to sit there and say that he lacks Charisma...well....that's either a bold faced lie or you don't know what Charisma is.

Tom Cruise as Tony Stark was not something I was too excited about back when it was announced. I could see him as Dr. Strange, although he's a little short for that role IMO. I think Tom Cruise gets a ton of undeserved crap. As someone who is irreligious, outside of it's new-ness, I don't see why Xenu is fundamentally weirder than Yahweh. If someone believes in a bearded man in the sky I feel like they ought not point fingers at someone who believes in dead alien souls. Also, Tom Cruise has been in some of my favorite movies. Rainman is in my top ten favorite films of all time, and he's a large part of why. I always found his character in that movie to be very real and identifiable to me. I like how Tom Cruise plays him. I kind of feel like Tom Cruise, Ben Affleck and Nicolas Cage all have the same issue: they're very good actors who do an awful lot of bad movies inbetween some very, very good ones. Tom Cruise's stock as an actor and as a person would probably be better if he were more careful with his choices.

Plus some actors just aren't intrested in doing superhero movies. Fanboys keep saying Ryan Gosling should play such and such superhero when he says he doesn't want to do those movies.

my vote goes to john cusack or michael sheen. they could both pull of the vincent price look me thinks, which is my favorite look for strange, i always thought his more modern look made him look like a sruffier clone of tony stark with gray sideburns.

With Tom Welling you might see his costume maybe as far down as the top of his amulet, but not much more than that. Everyone else will be filmed normally but Tom Welling will be filmed at such a close up that it makes him look like he's on Skype or something.

Yeah I posted a page or two back that Patrick Dempsey has been lobbying for the role for a while and Marvel know about it.
