A new show runner will be interesting. I hope whomever it is doesn't just fire Peter Capaldi so they can hire a new Doctor.

If there's any kind of god in heaven or otherwise, the next showrunner won't be Mark Gatiss.

I doubt they would have to fire Capaldi as I have read he may be leaving as soon as the end of next season (unconfirmed obviously but hinted at by Capaldi he won't be around that much longer either).

Gatiss would if all his seasons told the stories over 2-3 episodes.

The man isn't built to write one, 60 minute episode.

Eh, it seems like the majority of the fandom hates the show in general.

"OMG, OMG, Capaldi's war speech was the best thing ever, it moved me to tears, this episode truly a defining moment, not only for this series, but for the entire television landscape ... but this is still the worst series ever to befall mankind, and the entire show needs to be torn asunder from the ground up if it is ever to regain any credibility. I will be sure to voice my discontent at the next convention when I wait in line for 22 hours to get to see the panel."

The only ones who truly hate Moffat are the RTD/Tennant fanboys and fan girls.

You know, the ones that probably think that the show should have ended forever when they left, or that Matt Smith should have regenerated into David Tennant.

Those fans.

I think it says a lot that fans will simultaneously praise something Moffat wrote while calling him the worst writer in the whole of television.

You know, calling him a misogynist while also saying they love how River is a middle aged action heroine instead of a mom-figure, they love how UNIT is mainly run by women scientists, they're so glad Clara/Amy stood up for herself in whichever episode.

His plots are over-complicated, but also disappointing because his mysteries are never as complicated as fan theorized.

I don't hate the show or anyone involved with it.....except for that one guy inside one of the Daleks in one of the episodes where the Doctor fight some Daleks.....yeah, that guy was kind of annoying. Glad they didn't bring him back after that.

I watched the Christmas special recently and felt it was pretty good. It was great to see the Doctor get to toy around with River about himself and when he did the fake reaction to "it's even bigger on the inside" bit. That ending was brilliant.

It wasn't fake. It was the "perfect" reaction. Everyone else does it wrong.

Yeah this is what I thought as well.

I think he nailed the overall plot of series 5, but he has been hit and miss since. His over-complication leading to nothing can be a pain, but I thought series 9 was a return to form in that regard for the most part. What I think he still does is create memorable characters and he nails his solo efforts and dialogue.

The showrunner of the first two series of Torchwood. Thrilling.

So no series for 2016? That sucks.

Guess 12 is regenerating like Bleeding Cool assumes.

No new episodes for a whole year? Excuse me while I go into a Malcolm Tucker swearing rant into a paper bag.

Well he's okay. I don't know if Gatiss would have been better.

"The Hungry Earth / Cold Blood"
"Dinosaurs on a Spaceship"
"The Power of Three"

Well aside from "The hungry earth two part episode it's been pretty bland resume for "WHO"

I agree that series 10 will Capaldi's last. With Chibnall in charge it will be a whole new slate.

Probably in the vein of "....To the next 10 years!"

Moffat's the only last remaining piece of the first 10 years.

I'm just glad its Moffat's last season. IMO, he's already been showrunner for too long.

Those series were alright when they weren't all "SEX! SWEARING! ADULT THEMES!!!!!"

I swear. Those first seasons were trying waaaay too hard to feel adult, and I think that's a big part or why it alienated so many Who fans.

Let's see...four years with Matt, and another three with Capaldi, that's seven. Did anyone else from the old series get to be showrunner for that long?

.
Since he's not writing every episode, I'm more into hoping he brings an entirely new slate of writers to pitch for NuWho.
