Don't Hate The Hater, Hate The Hate! - - Part 14

I hate Schlosser's aunt too, the story of leviticus, and Schlosser for reminding of that awful story. :o

I hate seeing these commercials with these hairy guys making pizza and not wearing hairnets or have these immensely hairy arms. I just keep thinking, I know who'll find a hair in their pizza today. :barf:

They don't know how much Marines get paid, do they?

tell her I said so. as someone who has worked for the Dept of Defense for 10 years, i can confirm that.

I don't understand, where does she think the money will come from? Like you get married and the government hands you a bonus cheque for the achievement? Or maybe he told her USMC trainees get paid in advance?

I just don't know. She thinks she knows every damn thing. I'm just gonna let her learn on her own. Maybe if life smacks her around a bit she'll learn.

That's probably the best way, sad as it is.

Some people can only learn from their own mistakes.

I wouldn't recommend it normally, but cut her off like the sist she is. :o

Yep. I told her the other day that she's an adult, she can make her own choices. Lessons gotta be learned.

I've been advocating that to my family for the past 3 years. They keep saving her when she starts to mess up, or gets into financial trouble. They won't let her hit bottom to learn some lessons.

Well she's only 21. She has a lot of hitting bottom left to do. :o I didn't go out to support myself fully until I graduated college at 22 and got a fulltime job. But I damn well knew how to budget and stuff. :o

But yeah, if she continues to do stupid s**t, your family has to save themselves first. Your parents shouldn't give up their own savings for enable her.

Looking at this: http://www.militarypaychart.us/marines/

A Marine doesn't start to make more than I do (which is low end for LA) until they get past staff sergeant or second lieutenant. :o In fact, it looks like they get paid less than minimum wage when they start out.

Oh yeah, they'll both be swimming in the money when he gets into the Marines. :o

Tell her to join the marines, if you want her to learn things the hard way it's better to have her gain more experience

Yeah, I think most of the military pay the lowest ranks less than minimum wage because they can house them on base. Don't need to compensate them for renting a house if you're already giving it to them for free.

it doesn't work like that
actually it works exactly like that. his check will bump $250 a month during training if he has a valid marriage contract. if either one of them is renting somewhere to live or has a lease they make even more. and then when they divorce she is entitled to half of that because those are now marriage assets. also he would be required by law to pay her for some time after the divorce. and the lawyers are free.

it's a pretty common scam that i wish recruiters would warn people about more.

HIS check will bump $250/month. Where does she get the money? He might spend it all on tanning salons! :cwink:

Tanning is such a waste of money. Just tattoo your whole body darker

I hat when people just hate on you for vertually no reason. When people will put like, a lot of effort into said hate is even worse.

they have to be married a certain amount of time before she's entitled to half

as soon as he said they were getting married and he was joining the marines this scam/situation is the first thing i thought of. it basically ensures wherever he gets stationed she can come

I think her wanting to get married to this guy is two-fold.

1. She's in love with the idea of love. She wants this perfect fantasy life, to the point that she's decided he's going to get out of the marines, become a firefighter while she'll become an elementary school teacher (despite having a 1.2 GPA upon graduating from high school). Then they'll buy a house and live happily ever after. I **** you not, this is what she thinks.

2. The other part of their getting married is the money she seems to think she'll get. She's always been really obsessive over money.

If she was obsessive about money, she would have been all over this guy's ass for overdrawing HER account! :argh: I would have broken up with him just for that!

Also, yeah, an extra $250 a month is pretty nice, but when you're making under minimum wage, it'll only bring it up to "not as sucky but still sucky." :funny:

She was going to break up with him over it. His family talked her out of it.
