Don't Hate The Hater, Hate The Hate! - - - - Part 16

Do you eat dinner early, way before you go to bed? When my blood sugar is low, I feel nauseous. (And dizzy, headache-y, and get cold sweats sometimes...) It doesn't happen all the time, therefore it isn't diabetes, but hypoglycemia. I had hypoglycemic episodes more than once in college because my diet was crap and my stress levels were a lot higher. And my metabolism is so fast, I need to be eating constantly.

You feel better after some time even without eating, because your body will recruit glycogen from your liver to restore the glucose levels to what they should be. That may be what your body is used to - recruiting the glycogen from your liver while you're sleeping to energize you when you finally wake up. But if you're awake before then, your body might be freaking out. :funny:

It SUCKS when you're in the middle of an episode, though. And it's hard to diagnose because they have to take your blood when you're in the middle of one. Last thing I want to do in the middle of a hypoglycemic episode is to get out of bed. :funny:

If you think it might be related to your eating schedule, might as well change it up and see if it helps.

But if you're also getting them from the commute home, it could be a stress thing. If you're taking public transportation, maybe get some meditation music or something?

I mean, it's something you'll have to get used to. My bus ride home in elementary school took 1.5 hours (no joke - my house was the very last stop!) and I used to get SO carsick. Now long car rides don't faze me at all.
Well I've been eating dinner everyday this week as soon as I get home, which is after 8pm, and then I go to sleep by 10:30-11pm. But since I feel sick in the morning, I don't eat breakfast right away, so I wait until about 11am, and that's my only meal in the day. I might snack on something like pretzels or animal crackers, but I don't eat anything before I get home. Plus, I feel like most of it might just be gas since my stomach starts bubbling as soon as I wake up.

And I read that if its mental, taking up something like yoga or meditation could help me find ways to relax. But its like no matter what I try to think about, I always end up going back to thinking about how bad I feel, especially in the morning. I'm very eager to see how my body reacts during the weekend to see if I wake up feeling the same.

They don't give you a lunch break whe you're working full time? That might be illegal. (I know it's illegal in CA, and I imagine other states would have similar laws.)

I haven't had a hypoglycemic episode since I started eating more regularly. It isn't a direct correlation - sometimes I'd get them when I had eaten dinner but not lunch the same day, etc.

Since you're doing stuff all day, you really should eat regularly. And if you tell me you're on a diet, I'm smacking you in the face! :o

I hate it when people make things more complicated for themselves

Yeah, we get an hour lunch break, but its in a place where you kinda need a car to go out and get something, or you can call for a delivery. But I barely had enough money for transportation, so all I could bring was a bagel. Plus with all of the stomach issues I've been having, I've been trying to avoid eating something strange that would make me feel worse, especially since I'm a picky eater and have fears of trying new stuff.

That funny feeling could actually be hunger.

Sometimes when it's been a while since I've eaten, especially if I've been sick and not eating, my stomach pains can feel so bad that the though of food makes me even sicker. But once I start eating, my grateful stomach makes the pain go away.

What do you have for dinner? Could you make extra and bring it for lunch the next day? If you cook dinner at home, it really doesn't cost that much more to make a little extra.

My coworker saves and scrimps, and this is how she has lunch every day. Starving is not an option, not when you need energy throughout the day to study and do mom stuff. :oldrazz: Eating out is extremely expensive. Whenever I have to eat at our cafeteria, I always get the same thing - it's a extra small sandwich/soup/drink combo, and it's less than $3.50, which is by far the cheapest meal you could get there. :funny:

I hate that my sister is making me resent my family. She hasn't made a smart decision for herself in maybe 5 years and she'll never fail because my mom and dad always bail her out when she gets in a hole. Right now, her apartment complex told her she can't have a dog. She bought a dog a few months ago, the complex found out and they said get rid of it. She didn't listen and kept the dog anyway. What does she do this week? She goes out and buys a cat. A ****ing cat. This is a girl who can't afford to buy groceries because she spends all of her checks on home decor and starbucks and her boyfriend spends all his money on PS3 games. Now they have to pay for two pets. It's infuriating, but my family keeps supporting her because she's the baby.

He has developed "sepsis" or "septic shock" due to an infection that started in one of his legs. The doctors are hopeful and have been pumping him full of antibiotics but he keeps going in and out of a fever.

I'm sure he is in the best of care. Hopefully he will pull through.

Boyfriend? What happened to her navy boy fiance?

Have a serious talk with her, remind her your parents won't be able to bail her out forever

Sorry to hear it, hope everything goes all right with that.

It's still the same guy. They called off the engagement and he's not going into the military because he can't pass the aptitude test.

He's too stupid to get into the military or too insane?

Yeah, there have been days where I would wake up starving, but no matter how much I wanted to eat, I just couldn't, and it wasn't even because of my stomach, but more so because my mom just wouldn't want to swallow food. And that's normally something that happens when I try to eat something new that I don't want to. My family likes to make fun of the many times that I've tried to eat turkey on Thanksgiving, only to throw up seconds later. I would say its all mental, but there's bodily proof that things are coming out, and my mom can't just produce that stuff on its own.

So far, I've had McDonald's and pizza for dinner everyday this week, since my mom doesn't cook and there isn't any food at the house. I usually get cheap $2 meals so that I can at least try to save some money. I'm really used to eating only 1-2 meals on day when I'm home, but now its harder because I have very little time to eat and I'm not used to eating late. Like I said, I mostly snack on food at home, but I don't want to fill myself up with the same junk when I'm out because I don't want to get stuck in a position where my body is looking for a release but I have no place to go.

Ironically, I went to bed last night without dinner, and I woke up today feeling like normal. I even went out for a walk and didn't feel any kind of sick feeling.

Too stupid to get into the military, wow. No offense to our military Hypesters but I mean, how hard can that test be really?

It's not hard. To put it into perspective, my sister found a guy who she can keep up with intellectually. She graduated high school with a 1.2 GPA. There are times she comes off smarter than he is.

Good god in Heaven that' pretty ****ing stupid. How did she meet this guy?

What? Your mom? Or did you mean your mouth?

McDonald's and pizza all week? Ugh. My friend and her husband work full-time and both have long commutes, but they still manage to cook dinner because it's just cheaper than eating out. They have a Costco membership. It's nothing too fancy. You could always invest in a $30 slow cooker and cook enough dinner to eat all week with pretty minimal effort.

And don't pretend that McDonalds is fresher than 3-day-old leftovers in your fridge. :oldrazz:

And if there's no food in your house, what the heck does your mom eat?

Yeah if you were starving and feeling fine today, it's probably stress. If you have stomach issues when you're going to try a new food, it's probably stress as well. It usually takes some time for your stomach to actually realize something's actually very very bad for you. Hours, not seconds. (Minutes if it's actual poison.) Throwing up immediately after is something your brain is doing, not your stomach.

I dunno. I assume they met at a tanning salon or something
:funny:
