Don't Hate The Hater, Hate The Hate! - - - - - Part 17

I hate that social media is taking over other aspects of life. It pretty much runs everything.

I was just telling a friend of mine how relationships must have been so much easier for the previous generation growing up. The only forms of communication they had were phonecalls and talking in person. Well and letters, but I don't think they used them much.

Yeah. Whats so hard about telling the person you have to go do something or just say bye?

Exactly! And then they just text you the next day like nothing happened. I love the person in question, but everyone has annoying quirks I guess.

Like Back to the Future?

Hahaha, not like Back to the Future.

I hate people who do returns when its really busy and wait in line for 10-15 minutes and wait until they get to the cashier to start looking for the receipt. "I have so many receipts!" Yeah **** you, have the receipt ready this wasn't a ****ing surprise.

For some reason there is an uncanny amount of people at the places I work (same company, I move between locations) who leave their wallets in their cars. It boggles my mind. I've lost count of the amount of people who get to the till with their purchase and then say "Oh hold on a minute, I'll get my wallet from the car."

Okay, you want to leave you wallet in your car that's your business...but if you're coming into a store, even a half hearted intention to buy something...surely it occurs to you that you might require at least one of the items in your wallet in order to do so?

Is that the Mark Cousins documentary? because if it is it's fantastic.

Yup,TCM was showing it but my DVR was full so It didn't record I love watching Documentaries on classic film and film in general.Thank god TCM is showing it twice.I hope it's as good or better than the Movies and Moguls series. That was great.

I hate everything about having to buy new glasses.

I hate that a pair in my prescription would cost more than $500 if I bought them at a bricks-and-mortar store. At least there are places online where I can get the same glasses for under $70, so that's something. One or two sites even give away single vision glasses for free. If only I wore those.

I also hate the fact that "nerdy" "geek" "retro" frames are all the rage now. Most of the damned things are bigger than those hideous glasses Dustin Hoffman wore in Tootsie. Seriously, nobody looks good in those things except models and stars who wear them with plain plastic lenses to look cool. They make the rest of us look like nerdy geeks. :cmad:

Xeno, I only paid around $10 each for my glasses. I can send you a link for the site I got them from if you want. I've had no issues with them for years.

It's funny how a person can become "the bad guy" in certain groups of people, yet he showed those people more respect than they showed him.

I would definitely appreciate that. Thanks. There are some really great sites that have glasses on the cheap and I'm always on the lookout for new ones. My glasses are always expensive because I have extremely bad eyesight, severe astigmatism and some other issues. The pair I have now cost about $130, but I'm trying to cut that. The lenses are so thick that I could use them to set fire to ants in the noonday sun. :p

Yeah that's the issue with me too. I can see clearly until 3 inches in front of my face.

I pay to get the expensive high-quality lenses because otherwise, they would be a lot thicker than they are. Unfortunately, I don't think $10 glasses will work for us. :csad: $10 glasses work for people who need essentially reading glasses. Not many people have eyesight as bad as I do.

Luckily, my prescription hasn't changed since high school (I'm 29 now), I take very good care of my glasses and I don't do crazy ****. My last pair lasted for 5 years before they were so scratched up I figured I should get a new pair. I'm babying my current pair and they aren't scratched up at all after 3 years.

People like us can't get the cheapest glasses but the discount sites offer good deals on the thinnest lenses. With my prescription even the high index/thin polycarbonate lenses end up being far thicker than normal. In an optical store my lenses alone would cost between $300 - $500. Online I've seen them for as little as $54. My current pair's lenses were $60 for "thin & lite" polycarbonate. Well, they're not thin because of my prescription but they're much lighter than any other lenses I've ever had.

I've resigned myself to "geeky" glasses this time, but only because I may have to get a new pair in a year anyway. That's another reason I'd like to keep the price low. With the eye problems I've been having there is a possibility that vision in my weaker eye will permanently improve -- or worsen. Having to chuck a $500 pair of glasses in a few months would add insult to injury.
