The only issue I have with sigs is when they have a huge amount of multi colored text that's just annoying.

That falls under my "others" solution. Along with people who have to quote all kinds of irrelevant things or have pictures or annoying quotes. Or just lots and lots of text. Another nice thing is it makes threads look cleaner and less cluttered.

I just have two lines, one as in inside joke for those that were there and the other being a short quote I like.

And then there are those who have the equivalent of a book. It's those people or the ones with lots of links or worse, animated gifs that spurred me into defaulting signatures off on forums.

I hate forums that let people have half a page for a sig because everyone has it filled with gifs and pictures and junk. I have to scroll through three pages worth of stuff just to read half a page of anything. I refuse to go on those.

I don't even notice that anymore. Although there has been the rare time I've had to disable avatars too. Some of the ones I've seen are even more obnoxious than the worst signatures.

That's what Adblock is for. Giant sig images are usually contained in a particular code tag, and you can block those.
