Dreamworks/Paramount's Ghost In The Shell - Part 2

I have no issue with Scarjo's body, I was just mistaken on what dark b's point was. She looks great in behind the scenes photo, I guess they just wanted a more muscled, more naked look to make her appear more nude. I guess in general they wanted her body to look different.

they also changed the design of the suit. The effects guy in the intrview even says it. that's idiotic. they have at least 6 months to agree on what the suit should look like. And 3 months later they need to remove the shoulder pad. f... idiots.

I remember reading that they replaced all of the practical monster effects with CGI in that 2011 The Thing prequel. I believe that was a studio decision. Wouldn't shock me if Scarjo's CGI body/suit was a studio decision as well.

What is your obsession with "proving" that Scarlett Johanson's body isn't as great as the film makes it out to be? You keep commenting on this as if it matters deeply. She's playing a character with an android body, who cares?

It's just the opposite. They ruined ScarJo's body with that cheap CGI.

I dunno, touching up the thermoptic camouflage doesn't seem all that bad.

When I watched '95 it felt like she was vacuum-wrapped in her thermo-optical camouflage suit, outside the gloves, the boots and the head-piece with a transparent veil to hide her face (straight from the original manga). I'm still impressed by this design. It gave an impression of both second skin and like her body is some sort of a product from a mall shelf.

In the film it looks like a form-fitting armor or something. With plate pieces and stuff. Not nearly as interesting, IMO.

 WTF sorry for off topic but i remember watching the BTS and there was alot of passion from the special effects crews because of the impact the 1st made. Now i know why the cgi was a afterthought process, shame because they could of used both techniques. Those guys must of felt so pissed.

Yeah they wanted practical effects with digtal touch-ups. That would have been perfect.

Yep, they really dropped the ball in the 2011 The Thing prequel doing over all that great practical effects work with not so great CG.

I definitely prefer the actual suit to the final CGI look.

Wow, I honestly thought they just put SFX over the actual suit. What a crummy decision! They wasted time and money to make it look worse.

I just saw it and yeah, I feel they should've opted for a remake of '95 instead.

The movie is dull as dirt, and the action isn't good enough to compensate. Like they sucked everything interesting out of the property. Even the things they actually took from the animated movie feel like watered down versions -- only there for the iconography. I don't know, it felt generic as hell. The source material deserved better.

What a waste of talent and effort put into that beautiful costume. I'm seeing it in more and more big budget pictures these days.

I can see why they touched it up. I think this is a bit of over-reaction.

This shot stood out to me when I first saw it in the trailer. Her hips (especially on the right) and legs look odd and unnatural.

I get that shes cybernetic, but its so distracting, it looks like a bad out of proportion drawing or something.

Finally got around to watching the movie - glad I basically saw it for free.

I wanted really hard to like this film and have minimal expectations, but at the end of the film I just felt like ".....what, that's it?" The visuals, acting talent and thematic material were there, but sorely undersold by the plot and amateur writing. I thought Scarlett was one of the bright spots and was 100% committed to the role, but couldn't get out from from under the script. Scenes ripped from the '95 film felt like cameos instead of contributions. Runtime should have been longer to give everything more time to develop.

I'm gonna have to go with the critics on this one - 5/10 for me. So much wasted potential - I wish the whole whitewashing debate was the biggest problem with the movie....

Regrettably, the whitewashing thing has hidden another big problem with this movie. Someone thought that ScarJo was too fat for this role and she needed a new thin body, which is terrible, not only because ScarJo's body is perfect but because the new CGI body is ugle as hell.
