Duncan Jones' Warcraft - Part 1

Exactly. You would have thought that an impossible feat.
Maybe when they realized they weren't going to pull of the impossible with the Orcs, they went the other way. They can still say the accomplished the impossible.

Regarding Duncan Jones's previous films, they've been good, but far from perfect. Moon sometimes got too slow for its oun good and i don't feel like it went far enough with the emotions of the characters, in the situations they were, i would have expected them to go a bit more overboard with discovering the truth of their situation.

Source Code had a weird central romance, from what i heard, a previous version of the script had both characters not knowing each other at all and their relationship being built. In the final film, it wasn't exactly earned, as the main character pretty much tricked her.

If this film is successful then I want it's sequel to be based on the story of Arthas and his climb to becoming the Lich King.

Or even focus on the Night Elves of Darnassus with a 'war of the ancients' film.

Also Avatar made it's CGI characters look doe eyed and attractive in every way. Nobody is going to want to **** these ugly cartoon orcs.

That's the genius of modern James Cameron. He's simple and pandering now as a filmmaker as well as being an expert visualist. He would have never made the Navi ugly.
I had no sexual interest in the Navi...

I want this to be good. I want to see other fantasy type films made.

There are a bunch of great book series that would make for great films. PJ can make his trilogy about Tolkien putting on his panties and making coffee.

How is any sequel not about Thrall?

Cameron is a better filmmaker than Duncan Jones (heck, he has over 30 years of experience) but I have no doubt Warcraft will be a better film than Avatar. Even if it isn't the masterpiece we all hope, Warcraft still has much more interesting lore and history to pick from, than Cameron would write for an Avatar-film.

Not that it's any harm though. Cameron has made some classics in the past with really good writing, but he seems more interested in visuals now, and the story is just a little thing on the side.

You are assuming they chose right.

The story presented in the trailer was incredibly dull...
It's a trailer...
I for one would rather hollywood not start thinking they need to treat trailers as anything more than superficial advertising. Like for example if the real magic of this story lies in the minutia and twists and stuff, would rather they keep that away from their teasers.
It did it's job, interest has been built, save for the people that were expecting to watch this teaser with a bag of popcorn and a soda..

James Cameron is one of the best visual directors around, comparing Duncan Jones to Cameron at this point is ridiculous. The Avatar comparisons are absurd.
All I said is people went to town on how much of a visual let down the avatar footage was early on. See 'avatar day' reaction videos.
to this day people can chime in on if that film accomplished anything but luckily for cameron, the numbers are what they are.

Point being, first trailers aren't always the best judge of if a films visuals will deliver. I personally didn't see anything special either I just know better after being here before.

That's what Darth is critiquing, it failed at doing that. It presented nothing particularly new or interesting to make the film look appealing. No one's asking for it to be filled with all the twists, they're asking for it to look interesting.

It did it's job based on what? As someone looking forward to this film, it did not hit me in that way. Would you like to compare it to how Star Wars has been actually building interest?

Well one thing guaranteed is the support of the Blizzard community in watching this film, from Diablo players to the WoW community, that should serve up a pretty decent box office return for warcraft.

My only concern is its June opening, its in the heart of the summer thus heavy competition.

How many players do you think they have?

How many players do you think they have?

Just 5.6 million thanks to that crappy expansion Warlords of Draenor but over 12 million at its peak during wrath of the Lich King.

Plus there's about 30 million people playing Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft which is essentially chalk full of Warcraft lore.

But i highly believe that once Legion releases WoW's numbers will explode high.

I mean personally i still believe the World of Warcraft: Legion's cinematic is much better then the Warcraft trailer. :p

WoW is bleeding subscribers so bad, that they will stop announcing subscriber numbers. Hearthstone is is full of Warcraft lore, but that isn't why people play it.

Still it feels like those who've played WoW a lot for some time whether the past or now should watch warcraft for either Nostalgia or loyalty.

The Warcraft lore from the war of the ancients to the sieges of Orgrimmar is truly amazing.

Wow, can i just say that 11 million views in 2 days is really impressive for this film.

You really don't go on the internet much do you? :o

That is not impressive. Where are you getting this?

The trailer was generic as hell, hopefully the actual movie is better.
