While neither trailer makes the mention of any names, I know more about the movies' plot than I do with Star Wars.

That's not a good thing though. It's nice to be in the dark and still have enough to be hyped.

Star Wars trailer = Beautiful looking mystery

Warcraft trailer = generic hollywood trailer #130

Lol I'm simply stating the truth. :) I mean, we can agree to disagree but i'll say this one last time:
[YT]sGbxmsDFVnE[/YT]
- I know there's some woman
- I know there's some dude
- I know there's some Old dude and his hairy monster dude, and I recognize them as Solo & Chewbacca because of previous movies.
- The Sith wants to continue something that Vader started, again I know this because Vader was in the previous films.
- The Force is calling someone? Does it make housecalls? :whatever:

[YT]RhFMIRuHAL4[/YT]
- Orcs are attacking the Human settlements
- The Orcs planet is dying and they have to leave it for survival.
- There is an Orc and an Human who want to make peace and not war.
- There is an orc female and the Orc male previously mentioned who side with the Humans.

That's called ignorance and in this day and age, there is no excuse for it.

A simple Google search would solve those problems easily or a simple IMDB check and you'll get character names etc.

Yeah, I feel like they tried to sell TOO much of the story in the trailer. They didn't need to include as much as they did. It makes the whole thing a jumbled mess. I feel like a better trailer would have consisted of Lothar and the other humans talking about a new threat, initially presenting the Orcs as an fearsome horde (like in LOTR), but then throwing in the curveball at the end with one scene or a couple lines that shows that there are actually good orcs. Something short like that would entice audiences more, I think, rather than: "The world is gonna end! Our world already ended! They're evil! No we're not! Orc Moses! Fly your griffin into battle! [Insert Romantic Scene of Warcraft Romeo & Juliet archetypes] DO IT NOW FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!!"

i watched that trailer and all i saw were cliches and weird cgi

No, why should an customer ever do that? The trailers are there to promote the film, not show random clips. It seems we see trailers as different things.

It seems Star Wars fan can't handle a bit of critism towards a trailer! ;) Peace and Love guys, i'm simply telling how modern trailers lack any story or information. It's not just SW that suffers from it.

Why should every trailer announce character names like a role call and spell out everything for people?

You go and see the actual movie for all that stuff.

It would be nice if everybody would chill. Some of yall are acting almost giddy over the opportunity to **** on this. Not liking it is understandable but no one needs to read it six times a page.

Everything hasn't been spelled out, but for Star Wars the audience literally has no clue, it really is simply riding off its brand power.

Just look here:

It gives all the beautiful details to the audience, just like Warcraft provides the setting and characters. It's not that hard to accomplish from a film studio.

you got it backwards, trailers nowadays reveal too much. Why would you want a trailer to hold your hand?

You can read my previous comments to see what I'm talking about.

I'll say this, the Warcraft trailer is far better than the first SW teaser trailer. Though, I admit, that's not saying much as i found the first SW teaser to be abysmal.

Why in the hell are we even comparing this trailer for a high fantasy movie based on a video game by universal/legendary with the trailer for the seventh installment in a science fiction series from disney with double the budget?

i'm not gonna say apples and oranges, but....

It's pretty well known that a trailer's job, beyond making people want to see a movie, is to spotlight and reveal some of the story of the film. That's been a trailer's function since...forever.

While this trailer does that, it does so in a generic way, so a lot of people aren't real engaged so far.

STAR WARS trailers are indeed running on brand recognition/nostalgia. They're not particularly well conceived trailers. They just look cool, and they hit the right notes of nostalgia.

Contentwise, though...someone is on a quest for...something. Everyone looks very concerned about things. There are apparently some sort of space wars going on, with some sort of rebels fighting some kind of dark empire...that could be interesting. There's something called Jedi. Luke Skywalker may or may not be in this, and Darth Vader has a fanboy...there's not much really new there beyond the gender and race of lead characters.

The general audience may have one reaction to this trailer but for a majority of the Blizzard community we're happy as hell seeing their favourite characters from the first war brought to the silver screen.

God i hope we get to see remnants of the Burning Legion in this film from Kil'jaeden to Sargeras. :hmr:

Am I the only one already pondering potential sequels?

Would love to see the second installment centered around Tides of Darkness/Beyond the Dark Portal. Gotta see that Polymorph magic and Troll Berserkers.

And there's plenty of content in Reign of Chaos/Frozen Throne for a third.

It'd be cool to see a trilogy of Warcraft films that barely even touches WoW. Then after that they can do whatever they want.

A lot of people on the WoW forums are hoping that the sequel is about Arthas and his rise to being the Lich King, would be awesome.

Not every movie can afford to have dick in a box- I mean, mystery box marketing! I'm sure Warcraft will have a better trailer next time.

Surely, I can't wait to see Darth Vader's backstory done right. ;) But they could save that for the third and/or fourth film.

There's a lot of great content in the second game to have in the second movie. Plus it would slow down escalation, introducing trolls/elves/goblins/gnomes before having to get into Night Elves/Tauren/Undead.

I really hope that the Night elves and the gnomes make an appearance in this film.

I think it will be only humans and orcs, possibly high elves, but I only think you'll hear about night elves or gnomes in passing (at best) and not see them yet. Same with dwarves.

If anything, there might be a prologue sequence explaining the night elves and their history with the legion. But somehow i doubt they'd want to get that in depth in the first foray.

So is this a well conceived trailer for Warcraft?

I'm sure most people would say Star Wars is closer to fantasy than science fiction.
