Doing well in the territories so far, and the China forcast is apparently good. But not enough territories to truly know yet.
$31m for the weekend. That isn't a lot.According to boxoffice mojo it already grossed over $31M overseas
Yep. Did especially great in Russia. The only pause is it hasn't open in the bigger markets yet, but China apparently looks really good.I read did very good in the markets it was released in.
North America has moved on from the badness WOW has become a while ago. Though apparently it is still strong in many countries across the globe, especially China.Interesting that so far the studio hasn't been able to get North America excited for the film.
Fans aren't even making up half the money they already have now. Perspective.Still, I'll be really surprised if the sequel happens. Unless fans alone make so much money...

Blizzard has more fans than dollars WC earned this weekend. If everyone of them buys a ticket, it will return the film's budget easily.Fans aren't even making up half the money they already have now. Perspective.
As to a sequel. Legendary needs properties. Let's see what happens first. No idea what it will end up at yet.
That is not how this works. A good portion of Blizzard fans won't even pay for their games. There is no 1:1 here.Blizzard has more fans than dollars WC earned this weekend. If everyone of them buys a ticket, it will return the film's budget easily.
Which is why we are here 3 years later with the Pacific Rim sequel...Fans alone can make a big difference. This feels similar to a movie like Pacific Rim IMO. Some loved it, some hated it, some were in between, but it made enough to warrant a sequel because of the fans. I didn't care for PR that much myself, but I could see Warcraft having a similar fate where the fans and their appreciation (in numbers) is enough to warrant the sequel.
Not sure what you mean here Octoberist. But they're still going ahead with it after he Chinese purchase of Legendary. It's not greenlit but it's out for the count, especially with the new director.
So you think it will actually happen, or you don't? I am not sure. Having a new director is something, but this all still feels like smoke and mirrors. The Chinese company Wanda bought out Legendary a few months ago. People joked that they were going push ahead with Pac Rim 2 after it fizzled out latelast year, and a week alter after the purchase, Legendary got a new director for Pac Rim 2.
Now I get you, and I agree. I feel the same about Warcraft even if it bombs domestically.I honestly don't know...but Wanda might have their motives for pushing for another Pac rim. If you think about it, it would be shame to let it rot as an IP. Keep in mind they're a Chinese company so their perspective might be a little different on the success of the first one.

Playing Diablo III again with a friend and the cinematics in the game are gold, hell, even WoW's cinematics were amazing...I don't understand why they didnt just make the movie a CGI movie like their cinematics and just bring in outside writers to polish up their stories.
