Enough of the Bull****:Darthphere Presents: Why do you hate Marvel?

You shoulda called him a dirty, mouth breathing Canaanite.

I agree that the events seriously need to stop soon, after secret invasion, seriously leave everything alone for at least 3 years. All this status quo changing is hurting my head and its annoying. Besides after a humongous event like SI, what kind of event could possibly top this next year? Galactus returning for the 5th time??

Marvel's crisis or the return of Kang the conqueror. I'm betting more on a Marvel crisis though. :o

I really don't like the SHRA. It's to......depressing. They should get rid of it.

Really... the next event is going to be an ultimate universe crossover with the main 616 universe.

I ****ing hate the state of the X-Men and Spider-Man books right now. ****ing ass **** **** on a dipcocker**** **** *****whammy and then ****ing *** all over your goddamn ****ing face.

It's almost more ****ing egregious on the X-side, because it ****ing seemed like they were on to a winning formula with Messiah Complex, took one look at it, and then said, "Nah, we don't want that, we want the direction that ****ing sucks. We don't want all the X-teams working together coherently with epic stories and grand character arcs fighting for the dreams that they've been taught; we want them to be disorganized little *****uckers running around like ******s who neglect their wards for no reason. Y'know that whole 'Xavier's is a school' formula that's worked out excellently for us all through this decade and has proven itself to be a workable formula by being the benchmark blueprint of highly successful X-franchises like the movies and new TV shows? Well **** that ****. We want the X-Men to be a squadron of black ops killers, because that image worked like a mother****er in the nineties, right? Yay! High fives all around for being ****ing dumbasses!!!!!!"

Christ on a ****ing **** C**BUCKET.

You know what I hate more than One More Day? Brand New Day. Yes, I hate it more. Why? Because Spider-fans had been wanting Dan Slott to write Spider-Man comics for years. They've been asking for Spider-Man to be fun again. But Marvel didn't listen while Pete and MJ were married. So immediately after Marvel gives us the worst Spider-Man story ever written (One More Day), they try to fix the horrible premise of Brand New Day by finally giving the Spider-books Dan Slott, fun stories, and a weekly shipment schedule. All of that could've worked before Brand New Day, but Joey Q saved it all for BND so fans would say "OMD sucked, but BND is actually good despite the fact that I hate the premise!" It's like your bully giving you painkillers after beating the crap out of you. Oh, yeah, you feel good now, but they didn't give you the feelgood drugs until after doing horrible things to you.

I'm of the opinion that Quesada knows how to make great business moves, if nothing else. Spidey was selling books like crazy after OMD primarily because he chose Slott to succeed JMS along with the other good ASM team members. Fans may not have embraced his idea, but he sure as hell found a way to make it work and make sure the title didn't lose its readership. On some level I admire that. It's still a bad choice along with The Other and Sins Past, but people are reading BND despite it all. It's quite the financial feat even for someone as influencial as the EIC.

Spider-Man, The Avengers (minus Initiative) and the X-Men.

THREE franchises I adored growing up, all complete and utter trash right now. Turned me from a living, breathing Marvel Zombie into an outright hater in less than a year. Astounding. There have been two times when Marvel lost me as a customer. The clone saga was one, and this was another. I am now SLOWLY creeping back into their books.

Now I have to pick and choose CAREFULLY what I read at Marvel, when I used to just grab any book with their name on it.

I like X-men Legacy and Uncanny.Is that bad?

Possibly an extra semi-colon.

-Spider-Man. Never cared for him,.

Phere hates Spider-Man, Cool this means that I never have to care about Darthphere's opinions ever again. Oh wait, that would mean I would have had to have cared about his opinions in the first place, never mind.

:D

It's good business, but it was still a little underhanded to me. Fans have been calling for Slott on Spider-Man for years now, but Joe Q saved him until after OMD, which he must've known would tank ****ing hard. So yeah, it saved ASM's sales from tanking because all the angsty fanboys who claimed to hate OMD still just couldn't resist going out and buying Dan Slott's first proper Spider-Man comics right after, but the whole thing comes off like a diabolical evil villain's master plan.

Also, I'm with BW on the X-Men thing, but to a lesser extent. I hate that the X-Men have abandoned the dream, and that a good portion of them are being turned into mutant hitmen, and that after X-Men #500 they're going to switch to horrendous costumes and some kind of faith-based revamp, especially since Messiah Complex reminded me of how fun X-Men comics could be (up until Bishop was totally character-raped at the end and nothing actually got resolved). But, on the other hand, I'm enjoying X-Men: Legacy quite a lot, and I like the twists and turns X-Factor's currently taking. Other than those, though, I'll probably just stick to the old-school-flavored First Class series for my X-Men needs. I have absolutely no interest in what I've heard of Brubaker and Fraction's new direction for the X-Men or for Land or Dodson's art.

But I thought Samaritans weren't Jews. That's why they're Samaritans.

Getting back to the topic of the thread, I don't hate Marvel. I like generally everything produce, save for Amazing Spider-Man, New and Mighty Avengers. Characters like Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel, I don't care enough about to pick up their books, so I can't blame my disinterest on anything Marvel's done. Quesada has done far more good than bad, in my opinion. While the Avengers aren't the Avengers to me anymore, I get a lot of great stuff that more than makes up for three books that have gone sour since he's been in charge.

I actually sort of like the Ultimate universe now. It's nice that it's still around so we can all point and laugh at how obsolete it's become.

Wasn't the Ultimate universe made just so they can f**k up characters without it having an affect?

But now they just do it in 616 universe anyway?

Yes, because Marvel goes into these projects with the intent to "**** the characters up". It couldn't possibly be that they think it'll be good for the company or in the industry as a whole. :whatever:

It true, even though everybody criticizes Joe Q, he has done a lot more good than bad for the marvel universe, in fact i feel like he's saved it. He brought in fresh new writers and artists that revitilized and revamped the MU. Say what you will about the avengers franchise, but when was the last time the avengers were this relevant to the whole MU? People are now actually reading books like Captain America, iron fist, daredevil, ms marvel etc. Before OMD JMS was like a godsend to the Spiderman books, he completely gave th character new life. Quesada did all that, but anyway back to the topic, there's some things that just plain piss me off, like all the constant events, the sentry, and the fact that after 2 years of characters development, they now reverted hulk back to his dumbass "hulk-smash" mode, i was really hoping for a new perspective on the character but oh well....
