EVERYTHING Black Panther - Part 4

Nah. They would probably have Thor use some magic or some other ****. No need to go ask Negroes for help in this universe. Can't have them with super powers, high tech, or anything cool like that. At least I'll always have the Priest run.

*still not getting hopes up*

Is that what you think Marvel Studios feels about their black superheroes?

As an Asian American, I would love for more Asian representation in the MCU (hopefully we get that on the Netflix series), but as it stands right now, I am fine with Melinda May. I know that Chole Bennett is half Asian.

The directors I want to see involved in a Superhero movie (I don't care which company) are all Asian: James Wan, Justin Lin and Cary Fukunaga.

Hollywood has not given me any belief that they give a damn about black people as heroes. For too long we have heard constant crap about how the executives think that black movies don't sell, black people aren't happy enough to go see superheroes, etc. Black Panther and Wakanda would fit the Marvel Cinematic Universe far better than any other hero right now, but they are still too hesitant to do it. They could use his vibranium, and they could give Falcon wings that BP developed in the comics, but Wakanda itself? "That's too hard." I've been around long enough to know that is Hollywood exec talk of, "How can we make a movie with that many black people?"

I'm jaded about it, and I'd love to be proven wrong. Unfortunately I don't see them doing anything to push for a black hero movie that works so well as a Black Panther movie because him and his nation don't fit the silly tropes that they think people want to see of black people, and he's not a sidekick or side character that won't outshine other heroes. We're talking about a guy as smart, if not smarter than Tony Stark, and also as good, if not better, of a fighter than Captain America. That poses too many problems for Hollywood and their old, uncontested ways.

For the record, I feel this way about Ms. Marvel as well. Katee Sackhoff is perfect for it, and she'd fit everything, but I don't think they're in a rush to have too many females yet.

I think everyone should chill a bit.
I do feel that Black Panther, Ms Marvel, or both announced in some of the upcoming slots before 2019.

I do agree that there was/is hesitation, but Im not too worried about it. Just disappointed that nothing was announced at Comic Con

Black Panther will come eventually...maybe a decade, hopefully earlier than that.

I agree with E-man's concerns. Outside of Black Panther, I wish there'd be more production on black movies outside of Tyler Perry and the Grievance Industry (The Help, 12 Years a Slave, The Butler, etc.)...and show black character cast with positive or solid or even normal foundation. That's probably why I'm interested in possibility of movie...this could be first movie to break out of the same stereotypical mold that we seen from Hollywood.

I'd rather get a kick ass BP movie when they feel they've got a kick ass movie to give us than one because they're pressured to provide one.

the fundamentals for great BP movie are already here...its not like we don't have the technology or set pieces...we've seen Thor and Iron Man and Spider-Man. It can be done...the question can it be marketable to general audience.

There's probably some legal fear amongst executives for using the term 'Black Panther' in mainstream media, since it associated with a radical political party. I know the comic book came first, but I can understand why some execs want to shy away from taht.

I'm not holding my breath with a BP coming anytime soon. If they announce later that's great but till then whatever.

Those executives should be pointed toward the Black Panther motion comic that aired on BET (Black Entertainment Television). No (sane) person gives a crap about Marvel calling a hero Black Panther. Somewhat relevantly, there have been multiple murderers and suicide bombers known as "Black Widow" (or referred to as Black Widows). Marvel Studios hasn't really had a problem calling one of their most prominent female characters Black Widow.

A cartoon that airs on BET is not really relevant for determining whether there's an audience for a 150M+ blockbuster. For that matter, any cartoon anywhere is not really a good indicator.

That said, seriously people. They didn't announce BP, but they also didn't *not* announce it. They scarcely announced anything new, just a GOTG sequel ( coincidentally relevant to a movie out in a week! ).

It's not a lack of announcement of a BP movie that surprises me, it's the lack of an official announcement of a Dr. Strange movie.

Im surprised there was no concept art for Strange at least. But then again at best Strange is 2 years away. Maybe next comic con

I would think next Comic-Con will focus on Strange and Cap 3.

Yep. By then Dr. Strange will probably be getting near the filming stage (if not already started).

What does Marvel get out of Comic Con? The opportunity to shine the spotlight wherever they want. This year, the important thing isn't to showcase the far future, it's to assure everyone that Ant Man is doing fine, and will be the best film that it possibly can be. And of course, that Ultron is awesome.

An announcement about this or Carol Danvers should be next year at Comic-Con or D23

Yeah, the lack of anything official for Strange was surprising. I expected an official release date minimal.

Don't expect anything major from NYC Comic Con either. The only news we might expect is news on the Netflix shows, Agent Carter and Agents of SHIELD.

I forgot about D23. Isnt that later this year?

If I remember correctly, theyve made announcements there in the past

It's not that the BET show proves that there's an audience, but it proves that Black Panther is not a controversial name by any means. It's an animal, like, a real animal.

And what would this theoretically offended person even say?

More specifically *what* makes BP marketable to the general audience? What does he bring to the table that no one else does, other than being black?

That part is easy....

Minus of course, the bad guy in the latter.

Some of you are overreacting, I think Marvel has the balls to do a BP movie but they will introduce him 1st. My bet is Cap 3.

Comment reminds of the awful representation of Bishop in DOFP. He has to absorb energy then channel it through a gun???? WTF? When did his powers ever work like that?

I hope so. That would be cool.

Marvel does have the tendency to introduce a character that shows up in multiple movies, so if BP shows up in Cap 3, it's not going to be one and done for him.

I would only want black panther showing up in an after credits sequence and then a solo movie/avengers run though. I wouldn't want him as a secondary character in someone else's movie.

What about villains? Klaw is a dead cert I would say but how would you feel if Moses magnum turned up as well?

Don't worry guys, BP and MM are certainly in development. Marvel just doesn't want to show all of their cards this year.

Don't think they are having difficulties translating the character from comics to screen. It's just that they don't want to reveal it yet.

As Feige said, they will be introducing a new franchise every year and I seriously think BP and MM will be part of Phase 3.

They will slowly reveal the next batch of movies in due time.
