EVERYTHING Black Panther - Part 4

I wonder if they would try and bring comedy to black panther? I think that would be a very tricky thing to do but marvel has made a name of doing that which people seem to like

Of course they would. I think Black comedies (not to be confuse with black comedies) are relatively easy because they've been done so much. It's true that T'Challa is not a "funny" character, but neither was the Prince from Coming to America or Ice Cube in Ride Along. All they need is a funny sidekick or a funny situation, and boom, yuks aplenty, with no one offended on any level.

I'm not saying cast Kevin Hart as T'Challa, but you really don't have to go far to find a respectable black character in an action-comedy.

The Black Panther comics have usually had humor from situations, as most of the time Wakanda and its people are written as stoic as hell and kinda standoffish. Shuri is much more lighthearted though. I think it would be funny if as a youngster T'Challa isn't really that stoic but actually into a lot of young kid stuff.

Kevin Hart in the MCU would be the male Darcy Lewis.

Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 were more of comedies than action-adventure films. From what I'm hearing, Guardians is the same way. Aside from Captain America, it looks like Marvel isn't taking itself too seriously anymore anyway. Honestly, that's probably their biggest holdup on Black Panther - trying to figure out how to insert a joke every 3 lines.

Have you even seen The Winter Soldier?

See, the Kevin Hart was supposed to be a throwaway line. Now I want Terry Crews as M'Baka and Craig Robinson as W'Kabi.

It's more likely that, like with all films, they're looking for a unique angle on BP that isn't/can't be covered by other superheroes. Inserting comedy just isn't that hard.

Crews would not be a bad Luke Cage. Craig Robinson could make for a decent Bill Foster.

After seeing GOTG. Im a bit bummed how they used academy award nominated Djimon Honsou. They shouldve saved him for Black Panther. Same with Idris Elba in Thor

Hounsou would've been a good BP, but the best choice for the role is easily Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Boseman and Boyega have been brought up for the role, but I think they are both totally wrong for BP.

There will be comedy. It's a MCU movie. That's their thing....

@Blackman

Im not, it gives other black actors out there a chance to step into a leading role. And we all know how marvel likes to cast A listers as well as relative unknowns as thier leads like hemsworth, Pratt, cox, bautista, Hiddleston, stan etc.

Im pulling for boseman to get this role. Although Ejiofor would be a great pick too.

I don't want Boseman for this at all... being black and a good actor doesn't make him right for the role. Nothing I've seen from him suggests he could do well as BP.

Ejiofor on the other hand...

Boseman for John Stewart Green Lantern

I dont need to see someone do something similar to BP to be good for BP. Boseman can really trasnform himself for a role. Look at how is he regularly, how he played Jackie Robinson, and then look at how he plays James Brown.

All I need to know for Black Panther or any superhero role is that they wont half ass it. I dont think Boseman would half ass it at all.

Exactly. I think he has a lot of dedication and charisma. I can easily see him picking up an African accent and being a noble, cunning, genius BP.
he's also got the body type for it too.

Yeah plus most movies MCU or not have some comedic moments in them. It would be very weird for BP to be totally devoid of that.

That's makes it more a Batman movie than anything lol

I think in terms of tone something like Winter Soldier would be good for BP. Still has good humor moments, but is more serious in comparison to the rest of the MCU

Yeah that's a good point. When I was thinking of humour I sort of had the idea of a character like ninja ninja in Afro samarai in a movie like black panther. I'm not sure which character from the black panther mythos would be great for that to be honest or which actor they could play.

Maybe Donald glover as a western character proving that not all westerners are bad type thing? He's hilarious

Agree. By the way, what Marvel Studios has produced now with TWS and GotG only gets me that more excited in what they will have in store for BP.

Its probably been discussed already, but what does everyone think they should do for villains? I'd guess Klaw would make the most sense for what will presumably be an origin story? Maybe White Wolf as a secondary threat?
