EVERYTHING Black Panther

A combo of elements from Hudlin's introductory arc and The Client.
Ordinarily I am 150% in favor of origin stories, but this I feel is the exception.

No matter what you do T'Chaka's death has to be in the movie. That's too big of a part of the Black Panther mythology to leave out in a movie. I think it's best to show the death as it happens and to play up T'Chaka as a great king before he bites the big one. Then you could have the element of a son trying to live up to a legendary leader.

Ok...After tonight I want this film made as soon as possible.

Was letting my excitement for the Cap spot get the better of me. :o

So long as this dude that's writing is on the ball with his ****.

Definitely. Come to think of it, I'm going to look up some of the previous project's he's worked on.

Back to Cap for a second - The whole time when watching the spot I kept thinking "I can't believe I'm actually seeing a Cap movie come to life." I want to finally be able to say that for BP after all these years.

So can Black Panther be Iron Man's substitute in Avengers 2? I don't think RDJ would go farther than Iron Man 3.

He's definitely got the brains for it but I wonder how fans would respond.

"Why are they forcing this down our throats?!!! Iron Man was just a victim of affirmative action, and Dwayne McDuffie got him kicked off the Avengers so he could put his pet Black Panther on it! He was the reason they're even talking about putting on a War Machine movie! Man "we" always get screwed when it comes to "our" heroes. We barely have people on the JLA and Avengers now! It's a damn black book now!"

I'd love for that to happen. Call it a "BP in Avengers wish list" if you will. Because if T'challa were to show up in the Avengers sequel I'd like a scene where Steve remembers fighting his father or grandfather in WWII depending on which direction they go. (In the comics it was first T'chaka but then retconned to Azzari)

Plus I keep wondering if they'll bring it up in the Cap film that vibranium was used to make his shield and where it comes from. If so that'll be the second nod to BP in this universe.

What's great about Black Panther is that he has the story and villains to go a full trilogy if handled correctly and if the first succeeds. I certainly hope that the people over at Marvel have thought about that when thinking up future installments.

How I'd like the three films to pan out:

The first: Klaw
Sequel: Killmonger
Third: Man-Ape

Though Klaw is probably much more of a threat from a weapons standpoint than the latter two. But if they're a battle for BP mentally as well as physically it would work. That's why Joker is such a ***** for Batman to deal with, I guess.

Not entirely impossible.

Set a large part of the first BP movie in the past and have Cap in it - did they fight in some book, not sure why they would, seems they would both be against the Nazis in WWII.

Keep him in Africa and on the world stage. As much as I liked his run as an Avenger - it really did not make since for him to turn his back on his kingly duties for such a long time.

The origin with Klaw killing his dad is a must! Set him up in the first, with his sonic animals, etc., and entering that machine at the end. Then he can return in a sequel as the Kirby Klaw.

My only request for this film...can we PLEASE, PLEASE not have a 50 Cent inspired soundtrack?

lol what?
I never had any worry that BP would get an urban soundtrack. I kno wsomeone will say you'll be surprised with what a studio would do. But I dont think a studio doing a real BP flick will put in an urban soundtrack

I wouldnt be surprised if they put in one for Luke Cage though

It's practically a given for Luke Cage to have at least one hip hop song on the soundtrack, and so long as they were a decent act, I'd be fine with. Preferably someone like MF Doom, Lupe, Wu-Tang, and the like. His theme needs to be hard and grimy.

BP is an African superhero, not an American urban superhero.
I want soundtrack based on African folk music, I know there are nice tunes on that.

Now I know this isn't African(it's Polynesian) but it's still exotic to most westerners and that's what I was thinking when you said using African folk music(which would also be exotic to most westerners). So when you said that I just immediately had this come to mind for some reason:

OT: Man if they can get 50 to do his grimy stuff more like Power of a Dollar or Get Rich or Die Trying I would be stoked to have him on Luke Cage's soundtrack. The ones you listed are good too.

and I would love for the BP score/OST to have tracks that have instrumentals like these songs:

They should really get some good East African acts for music

Which of these 9 men should play the Black Panther?

With the recent announcement that Marvel's hired a screenwriter to get this long-gestating project back on track, we began to think about who could rule over Wakanda. Denzel Washington is too old, Djimon Hounsou's getting up there, and Wesley Snipes might still be incarcerated—who's left?

WILL SMITH

wo2ue.jpg

Best known for: Independence Day, Men in Black, I Am Legend

In all truth, it's probably too small a role for Smith—the biggest movie star in the world—and the traditionally budget-minded Marvel can't afford him. But he also gets mentioned for every male role that comes down the pike, so to not even bring him up would be silly. Still, it'll never happen.

IDRIS ELBA

mtrtlk.jpg

Best known for: The Wire, The Losers, Luther, Thor

Elba brings a simmering, almost physical intelligence to every role he plays—even Michael Scott's temporary replacement on The Office—that would be perfect for T'Challa.

CHIWETEL EJIOFOR

14abjbs.jpg

Best known for: Serenity, 2012, Children of Men

Put simply, Ejiofor would be awesome—he's one of the few actors who can stand up to Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie on screen and can effortlessly swing from sci-fi to Shakespeare.

ADEWALE AKINNUOYE-AGBAJE

2ajc6si.jpg

Best known for: Lost, Oz, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

This Nigeria-born actor has been campaigning for the role ever since the rights reverted back to Marvel a couple of years ago. As he told Cinematical in 2009: "I'd like to convey an element of him that is real and raw. ... I can make this guy real. ... I would bring some elements from my culture, which is Nigeria. I'm from an area which is known for its regality. In fact, my name, Adewale, means 'the crown has come home, the crown is here.' I would love to bring out the cultural elements of my background to it."

MAHERSHALALHASHBAZ ALI

2q9m7v4.jpg

Best known for: The 4400, Predators, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Kind of a dark-horse pick, but he was the heart and soul of the late, lamented, way-better-than-Heroes superhero drama The 4400. No reason he couldn't bring the same pathos to the technologically advanced jungle.

TAYE DIGGS

15numbc.jpg

Best known for: Day Break, Equilibrium, Private Practice

For reasons that pass understanding, Diggs has never quite made it as a movie actor—he's got the talent and the looks; no one's quite sure where it went wrong—so he could be hungry enough to fight for this with teeth bared.

ALDIS HODGE

ehhydl.jpg

Best known for: Leverage, Friday Night Lights

An unlikely choice, perhaps, in that he's now known for the light heisty charms he displays as a hacker supreme on Leverage. But he can rock the drama—as well as the accent—needed to pull it off.

MICHAEL JAI WHITE

k987wl.jpg

Best known for: The Dark Knight, Spawn, Black Dynamite
No one else on the list has action chops like this dude, who holds seven black belts. And if Christopher Nolan and Quentin Tarantino think he's good enough for their flicks—even if his fight scene was cut from Kill Bill, Vol. 2—then he's good enough for </I>Black Panther</I>.

ANTHONY MACKIE

30cq8aa.jpg

Best known for: The Hurt Locker, Eagle Eye, Notorious

Mackie's role as the battle-tested voice of reason in Kathryn Bigelow's Oscar-winning Gulf War bomb-specialist drama The Hurt Locker catapulted him to the top of a lot of short lists. No reason why he shouldn't be on this one, too.

Which one would you pick? Or did you have someone else in mind?
