What is "Invincible"?

I've been buying Invincible since issue #1 and it reads like 60's style Spider-Man with a modern day grit.

stupid comparisson number two!

I agree with savemarvel, some of you sound like people trying to sell this storyline than actual fans of the character.

Sorry to say this arachnid guy but savemarvel has a better head on his or her shoulders than you do.

Buying Spider-Man comics makes your sprem more potent and womens eggs more fertile.

Amen for that my friend:up: :spidey:

Lick the pages mommy, Spider-Man comics taste like schnozberries.

Well obviously not everyone can stop buy Marvel or the company would shut down. You don't want that.

Stan Lee gets to live one extra week with every comic you buy.

then stop buying Spider-Man and buy an actual good Marvel book, like Runaways, Captain America, Daredevil or Young Avengers.

there are other and much better options.

But I like Spider-Man more than all those.

Well i have to say Marvel dose stuff that just pisses me off. Gwen Stacy use to be a nice girl who loved and cared for peter. Now shes a ****e who sleep behind peters back and with the old Green Goblin no less. Then they had to unmask him. They have allready unmasked about half of marvels heroes. Can we have just one thats not and i dont want to go into the clone saga. I wouldnt be to surprised if Marvel will have its own "Crisis". I think marvel likes to piss off its reads. DC just like to confuse them. the only book of spider-man i like now is FNSM, Ultimate Spidey & even if it is for young readers, Marvel Adventure Spidey.

Those weren't really the real Gwen's kids......I don't give a **** what JMS says.

no you aren't, you wanted to say that.

hm I do agree with savemarvel on some points (i.e- sins past) but the whole story about stop buying spider-man comics? NEVER! I still support spidey no matter what. Like I said in my prev. post, real fans are those who stick through the bad and the best. Not those who give up when things go 'bad'. It's not that the charater itself is 'bad' - the writers dont do it to piss the fans off...they do it because they believe that, at the time, it was the 'right thing' to do to further develop the characters.

so stop being so offeneded. it's true that in some cases, mavel could be seen as 'raping spider-man' but people change, feelings change.

Deal.

Sorry, I cannot bring myself to pay money for crap. Crap that will make me mad, no less. No matter how much I love the character.

Well, sorry to respond so late to this thread, but here's my rationale:

I don't buy Spider-Man comics much anymore. I buy the following:

-Sensational Spider-Man
The last good 616 Spidey title. This is it. The other two suck s*** through a straw.

-Ultimate Spider-Man
While it isn't as good as the 616 universe was in its prime, it's still good, and Ultimate Spidey is more in character with 616 Spidey than 616 Spidey has been in a few years.

-Spider-Girl
Great book. Period. Relaunching this book is the one thing Marvel's done lately that made me smile.

I love America even though I hate Bush. I love my wife even when she gets on my nerves. I love my kids even when they disobey me. I am a Spider-Man fan & love reading his stories, even though I may not like the direction in which they're currently being taken. They have their entertainment value, despite being horribly misguided. And Spider-Man is still Spider-Man, and hopefully Marvel will come to their senses & restore him to his former glory. Until then, I hold out hope.

Nothing personal, but that's really sad. If your brother or sister was so heavily into drugs that you saw their life going down the tubes, would you just stand back and do nothing? Would you just hang out with them and think "Well, I just have to hang with them thru the bad as well as the good, he'll come around eventually." No, you would do WHATEVER YOU COULD to get them back on track.

I know we're talking about a fictional character here, but, look... I think the people here that are arguing the most about Spidey's current direction are the fans that have been around for more than just the last 5-10 years. We're the fans that have been around for much longer. This character is so near and dear to our hearts that we just can't stand to watch him written into oblivion. Spider-man is dying. Peter Parker is dying.

The ones responsible for this are the writers... and WORSE, the "fans" who complain yet SUPPORT this by buying the books. Buying the books you hate is supporting their eventual demise.

Over 40 years this character has been around, That's longer than 90% of the fans on this board. And NEVER in those 40 years has Peter Parker's character changed. NEVER. Until the last few years. No matter what has happened around him, he has always had CONSISTENCY. THAT is the reason why people love him so much.

Now he's a different character. His actions are not consistent with the character. And the most frustrating thing is, the writers aren't doing it for a good story, they are doing it for the sake of change and for MONEY.

When is the last time we've had an excellent Spidey story in a stand alone issue? Too long for me to remember. Every arc has to be part of some mege event now. It's become the new millenium's version of 90's varient covers all over again. It's pathetic.

Marvel won't get one thin dime from me until the current writing team is GONE. Until then, I'll read about what's going on with Spidey at spider-fan.org. :p

You say that I would 'sit back and do nothing?'

We're not talking about something as serious as drugs, man. We're talking about pieces of paper. My friend is a recovering drug user...so I know what to do. I didn't sit back and do nothing...I supported him in whatever I could do for him. This is not the same!

I don't have the energy to argue.

I'm just putting my voice across. There are more important things than comic books you know. all i'm saying is that I will still continue to buy spiderman because its still spiderman.

End of.

Ok...now i'm fired up.

Its about time you joined the party you started.

I have school. :(

One quarter left and I'll be a college gradiate!

And if all goes well, someday I'll be working on a Spider-man movie! (Maybe direct to video by that time... but I'll take it!) :)
