And I re-iterated that I'm aware that it's only a fictional character. I was trying to explain how to long time fans, the slow destruction of something you love could be comparable to a friend's drug use. It may sound ridiculous to some, but that's what it feels like to me.

Exactly my point. There are more important things that SPENDING MONEY on comic books. The thread is about why someone would shell out their hard earned cash for no other reason than "just because it's Spidey". I could take a crap in an empty bag of Dorito's and sell it to you because I know how much you love Dorito's, and you'd still buy it because it has the Dorito's logo on the front? Cause, brother, that is what a Spider-Man comic is right now. A LOGO on some paper with crap inside. It's not Spider-Man.
