I saw it as...

If you are here as a fan of the actors (which was me in the first 2 movies) -- then the trailer was a great view for you. You should be VERY happy.

If you are here as a fan of the UFF and not so much 616 F4 -- It was probably very intriguing to you and definitely increased your appetite for more.

If you are a fan of 616, as in decades fan, then you are probably not real happy about now, BUT....will probably still wait to see what Thing and Doom really look like before writing it totally off.

I'm not sure we have any "regulars" to this forum that are TOTALLY OFF of this movie....they can't because they love this comic too much and they can't let go of the fact that just maybe they will get at least a glimpse of what they loved throughout their childhood.

I am a fan of all the actors, Teller was the last one I was a fan for and he won me over with Whiplash.

I've read the UFF (not a huge fan of that, but I read it) and I'm a long time fan of the 616FF.

I've totally written this thing off, I guess I'm not really a regular, but it can break a billion or it could pull a John Carter and I seriously don't care either way.

Now as I've said, for those looking forward to it, that's great for them. I'm sure I like stuff they hate, different strokes and all that, but I just have zero interest in it. It's just not a movie I care to see.

Its totally possible to simply have no interest in a movie, I'm sure there are many movies anyone can say they passed on because they didn't want to see them, even if their friends/family/whoever liked it or even got good reviews. All things don't attract all people.

The only superhero related thing from Fox that I'm interested in this year is the DoFP Rogue cut, I'm preordering that badboy, but F4F is getting a pass from me.

i am definitely one of those...

I'm not holding on to any hope, im just angry. and it hurts because i love these characters. so every new let down is like ripping open a new scab. I despise this movie and at this point.. there's nothing that could save it for me.

And it's 100% possible for a superhero/comic book movie to skimp on effects because it's not in the budget.

Broken record here, but look at the BayTurtles movie. The director HIMSELF said that the movie majorly featured Megan fox and not the turtles because the turtles were just too expensive to film extensively. And their budget was...125-150 million I think.

Just food for thought.

.. but that movie is a horrid example. it looked cheap and the CGI was certainly not top notch

I'm a regular to this forum and am totally off this movie at the moment. I don't expect to see any glimpse of what I loved, and even if I did, the rest of it has been so distorted that it's all in vain anyway.

I would rather stay Far From the Maddow Crowd, but this film is too much like an accident that you can't look away from.

Yes exactly. They skimped on the effects. Because they couldn't afford better or even more.

Which is what might happen in this movie, since it might have a lower budget than BayTurtles.

that and the fact there's comfort in knowing so many share our opinion of disgust over this film. helps "keep the hope alive"

id just also like to say... i was off this film the moment MBJ said "you guys will see it anyway" because... guess what. he's right to some extent.. as a fans as a whole.. some will complain and complain and complain.. and then a trailer hits.. and their minds start shifting.. they mightn ot be excited.. but it sparked enough interest in some to suddenly go "well maybe ill check it out"

for me personally.. I don't ever want to be part of that "fanboy" stereotype.. that it's all instant reaction that always means nothing. I wont accept mediocrity. and I will show hollywood that by not giving them my money.

it's like that old comment we see pop up time and time again on here "i'm just happy they're making a ______ movie" sorry.. but what good is a movie if it's nothing you wanted?

Maybe he has a condition?:shr:

If it's just something that happens each morning, that's just a regular part of being a guy.

Exactly. It's like giving someone dysentery-infected water and saying that they should be glad they have anything to drink at all.

And the default response to that is, "quit being entitled geeks."

And the default response to that is, "quit being entitled geeks."

"We just want to see the characters we've loved all our lives done justice on the big screen for once."

"OMG you entitled geeks!!1!"

Bugger off.

My interest in this peaked out at about 8 out of 10 when we knew Trank was directing and Miller and Stenz were working on the script. The reason it didn't go to 9 is it was still Fox and I had a feeling they weren't going to push all their chips into the center of the table.

When we heard they were getting no-names to work on the script, I started falling down to 7, when we heard the cast (I won't say 'when Fox announced cast' because, well you all know), my interest plunged to 4 or 5. Since then, the news has been all bad and I was probably at about 2 by the time the Trank interview and trailer came out. Just getting that something brought me back up to about 3 - not because I particularly liked anything I saw or heard, but at least I was getting something.

So now I'm hanging at around 3. Because it's Fantastic Four, I'm interested and any truly good news/images etc. that we get could bounce me up, but at the moment, the studio is giving me nothing to get me interested.

Unless the next trailer looks great or Trank provides some compelling commentary, I probably won't bother going. Not because of any real protest, but the movie just doesn't look very interesting to me at this point.

Not to me. Seriously, if you didn't know anything about this film and I showed you this photo minus the Thing, would you . . . would anybody recognize that as three of the Fantastic Four?

If you say 'yes', I'm afraid I'm going to have to question your honesty.

Its 3 young adults in containment suits on a dirty dark landscape. My, if that doesn't scream fantastic four, I don't know what does:o

At least they had enough $$$ for the big blue laser beam firing into the sky, right? Thank God for that. Where would we be without a totally original & artistic big blue sky beam?

What would the movie BE without the totally original, gritty, grounded, big blue sky beam?

I shudder to think.

Agreed.

If I could erase my memories of reading the books as a kid in the 70's, continuing reading them into the 80's, forget about picking up paper book sized collections of the older Lee Kirby run to catch up on the stuff I'd missed out on before I was born and so on, this could be a movie I might like.

Unfortunately I cannot erase those memories, nor do I feel inclined to conveniently ignore them and willingly support something that is clearly making little effort to bring that magic to the big screen.

When Jordan said we will 'go see it anyway' I responded here then with "Challenge accepted."

Nothing since has swayed my position on that score.

For those looking forward to it then good for you, I genuinely hope you like the film on its own merits and do not walk out feeling disappointed, but personally, this is not an FF film I wish to support at all.

I will eventually catch up with it when it hits the services I'm already paying for, but there's zero chance of my wallet being opened when this thing is released here.

I shudder to think.

Should I wait to see more footage to properly determine whether the big blue sky beam was properly adapted, or can I start hating on it now?

Yay we got a new keep hope alve thread!

You should show the proper respect when talking about the late, lamented Superherohype "Thread of the Year" award winner.

I say why wait? What else would we do, being the entitled geek haters that we are!

Haha i didn't realize that thread was closed down too, so that's why all the hate is here hahah.

If this movies supporters spend more time talking about what they liked, and less time growling at people who don't like it, it might not feel so lopsided.

I remember thinking at the time that he wasn't actually saying: "They're so dumb, they'll watch anything that calls itself Fantastic Four." But rather saying: "When they start seeing footage from this thing, they'll see it really is the Fantastic Four."

Well, we've seen footage, but we still haven't seen the Fantastic Four.
