World War Z had extensive reshoots. That turned out fine.

Okie dokie.

And if Fox is demanding reshoots because the film lacks fun... well it isn't the Fantastic Four if Human Torch can't tell a joke and there aren't massive action set pieces.

...

Do you really not see the disconnect here?

Really?

I don't understand how he can say 42 million when the video says 14 million.
The thing I wonder about is...why are people assuming a high number of views can only be interpreted as a good thing? Every time someone on her was saying the trailer sucked, they put up a link to it to prove to others it did...so if people looked at it, that didn't mean they loved it (or hated it)...it simply meant they looked at it. How can someone know if they will like a trailer until they actually look at it?

Didn't Marvel do that for Ant-Man?

They did. Tbh it's more accurate, people don't only watch it on the official channel, and a lot of people don't even watch it on YouTube. No point in saying it's got 14 million views when it has more

Edit: And yea I agree, more views doesn't mean more likes

Keep dreaming about massive set pieces. You aint gonna see some spectacular vfx action. The action from what I understand is very restraint and it really is a sci fi exploration movie in which certain individuals gain powers and how they and the public react to it. Oh and with some elements of horror but nothing too scary that it ends up with an R rating.

Why do people bring up World War Z in defense of this movie? Have any of you read the book?

That film is the poster child of movies that take literally nothing from the source material other than the title and a few names. It's so unfaithful that the author of WWZ disowned the film. Why use that when it has the exact same issue that this film does?

There was a study done by Google that says high number of views and user content equal big box office numbers. The study even explains why those horrible Transformer movies do so well. The majority of people who go to see action flicks care most about the director.

They get the 42 million by adding up the views of every instance of the trailer posted, not just the official one. Kinda deceitful, but it's Fox so what do you expect?

Yes they are manipulating the data. This is not being measured the same way other trailers are viewed, so it did not break DOFP's viewing record.

a lot of people are unfamiliar with the source material or simply don't care.

and I'm talking about WWZ here :o

lets also not forget about the dreaded adaptation of "I AM LEGEND" which pales in comparison to the book

That's my view.

High number of views = large number of people who want to see a Fantastic Four film.

High number of dislikes = people being disappointed to see that the Fantastic Four wasn't actually in the trailer.

That seems to be the common sense interpretation.

Thanks. That's sort of what I assumed, but I wonder if they include views of videos with commentary etc.

It certainly looks like they're playing games.

The DOFP trailer has over 31 million views just on the official trailer vs FF's 14 million:

There should be some correlation and I find it hard to believe that FF has that many more 'unofficial' views.

Okay, I just read the article again, and it basically says the FF has the best performance for a fox film since DOFP. It doesn't say it did better and the numbers show it has less than half as many views.

I had started to think there was some real interest here, but the numbers really don't look that great compared to things like DOFP and AOU.

Seems like a bit of smoke and mirrors in an effort to generate hype. Nothing really out of the ordinary as far as PR spin goes I guess.

Nope they're saying it broke the record for most viewed trailer even over DOFP:

"The first trailer for the Fantastic Four reboot has broken the Fox Studios record for most viewed trailer, passing X-Men: Days of Future Past with 42 million views."

Like I said they're manipulating the data for a news story. It's all BS, this thing didn't come close to passing DOFP.

Can't let the content speak for itself, so time to fudge the numbers and create their own narrative.

So now that it's broken some record, none of you really care for prior. The new theory is that it's somehow been manipulated. Just face it, the little low-fi, film with garbage bag doom, that was being shot in found footage, is getting more buzz than you ever imagined.

we're speaking about a difference of 30+ million views between the 14 million views that are a fact and 45 million FOX claims to have. I'm no rocket surgeon, but I don't think 'theory' is the right word to choose here

Did they only make claims exclusive to YouTube? or did they say the "Trailer" was viewed 42milllion times?

So Marvel claims Ant-Man has 29 million global views and no one claims they are liars?

Except people have done that math that shows their are fudged numbers. Dont you think something that popularly watched would have been trending more than a day? Dofp certainly did. Hell jurassic world still is. Fant4stic is just a speck of dust in the wind. People have already moved on from it
