Days of Future Past was so well written they had to resort to pulling time travel powers out of Kitty Pryde's ass because there was no other way to make the thing work. Nothing like Fox's steady commitment to fidelity and careful attention to detail.

A logical time traveling method is a must.

They did that as a tribute to the original story where Kitty was the one to travel back in time.

It still didn't make sense. Contrived is an understatement, as well as the magic potion that renders Xavier's psychic powers defunct while giving him the ability to walk. And this is from someone who really liked DOFP.

Don't care. It was contrived and stupid.

But while we're on the subject, if the entire series hadn't essentially been Wolverine and His Little X-Pals Kitty might have already been established as an important enough character to do the time traveling herself. But no, The Wolverine Show must roll on.

Agreement.

DOFP was written as an apology for Fox making terrible X-men films. Any further insight into the screenplay is pointless. Kitty Pride was a plot device and Quick Silver as the proverbial Deus Ex Machina.

If you were not invested in the X-men films, then DOFP meant nothing to you. It didn't expand the audience to a new generation the way that First Class tried to.

It's an enjoyable film, but there's a reason on why it was predicted to be the no 1 film of the summer and wasn't.

Yeah, it fixed X3's continuity issues and killing of Cyclops while establishing XMO as completely non-canon, then rebooting the timeline. As somebody who cared, I liked the apology.

And Kinberg also wrote the first Sherlock Holmes movie. He's actually a pretty good writer.

He also did Jumper, X3, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Huntee and several other dreadful movies. I still attribute everything good about DOFP to Singer.

Kinberg did some editing on the screenplay, Michael Robert Johnson was the lead writer on Sherlock Holmes.

Kinberg was one of 5 writers on Sherlock. He had Goldman, Vaughan and Singer with DOFP too.

On his own? He is Not so hot. XXX2 and Mr & Mrs Smith? The former absolutely awful, the latter just average, only elevated from forgettable mediocrity by it's 2 big name stars.

Give him good writers to work with the end result can be good. Given all the 'heavy lifting' he struggles (imo).

Basically, the best entries on his resume required assists. The worst are either mostly (or soley), his own talent at work.

Do we really have to discredit DOFP in order to discredit Kinberg? Seriously, is the hate for FF that strong?

Like nothing anyone's done can be seen as good or great if they've been attached to this project.

I've said here and elsewhere that I like DOFP and chronicle. However nothing about this sounds good, or like a proper FF film, so there's no sense in complaining about the negativity.
Also, you did nothing to refute what it is we are saying. Kinberg has made just as many, if not more, bad films than good. Are you going to try and refute that, or just complain more about the negativity?

It's a collaborative effort with the everyone on set. It's not a book where the success or failure can be pinned squarely on him. The dialogue is only one aspect of a rather large production.

Does everyone have to think DoFP was the bestest thing ever? Does everyone have to worship it? Is it beyond reproach? Should we avert our eyes and drop to our knees and only speak of it in hushed tones so as not to incite it's divine wrath?

Imo it was decent but nowhere near the amazing film X-fans try to paint it as. It's a movie with numerous problems that do a fine job of "discrediting" it on their own.

Kinberg is another Goyer. Leave him to his own devices, and mediocrity follows.

Yup. WB/DC bought into their own hype by placing Goyer in charge of MOS all alone (without a Nolan to script his story).

And it failed.

I expect the same here. Or at the very least, a GL situation. Seeing as the script has been rewritten multiple times, at last once to cut costs.

DOFP discredits itself, imo. A huge step back from FC (which also had its issues)

agreed

LOL. Not sure if it's a "tribute" to the original story to turn the protagonist of the original story into a bit player. That's more of a flipping the bird to the original story than a tribute.

On the surface DOFP is a great film. However if you dig deeper, you'll see the lazy written script and headcratching plot issues. When I first saw it, I was like wow that's a big step forward for the X-Men franchise. However, when I sat to analyze it, it just isn't a great movie. Good performances? Yes, definitely. Good action? It was okay. The writing and plot structure was nonsensical at times. Singer saved the movie not Kinberg. FC was better. X-2 was even better. That's a great movie IMO.

A snippet of Teller's latest comments on playing Reed (From Empire):

"As for how fans should expect to see Mister Fantastic's powers portrayed in this version, it does sound like it will be a little less cartoonish than the previous movies and the comics. "If he's this gummy guy slinging around, it looks ridiculous," the actor claimed before adding: "What does that feel like for a young guy, to have no control over his body?"

I know what I think of that...The rest of you can make up your own minds.

My mind is made up. Everyone involved in this production either is embarassed by or just simply hates the subject matter on which FFINO is presumably based. It represents an enormous leap backwards for the genre, and everyone enjoying the current golden age of comicbook movies should hope it fails badly.
