Collin(director of JW) will work in Hollywood again but he learned from his experiences. Like Trank that being the director on big budget franchises is good for your career but not everything its cracked out to be. These guys are young and hungry chopping at the bits for anything. They get on these projects there they find out that studios really want far more control then they ever imagined and because they aren't Tarantino's or Spielberg's of the world. They often times get overuled or just rolled over in many decisions. It's a lot of money being thrown into these films so I understand it but the result too often is movies like JW and the Amazing Spinderman 2. Where everything is give and tug with the final result sometimes being quite messy like the ASM2 or near mindless popcorn flicks like JW. Not every movie needs deeper meanings but sometimes its nice to have them.
JW yes, was a popcorn flick, but i cant honestly think of a film that has ever woven in the nostalgia of its predecessor so easily, respectfully and flawlessly . Every reference fit the narritive and was so skillfully put together. Collin desserves a massive hunk of credit for that. He clearly loved the first jurassic park very very much
