Well I will be a man and admit it seems I was wrong about this movie having the potential to be good. I try to keep and open mind but this is a betrayal of my trust. The reviews seem to confirm the rumors and bad things people been hating the movie for. So I suppose the hate that's been around here is justified ( sorta). But I will say the coming soon review seems like someone that posts on these boards wrote it. So also say it's kinda trollish with the Ang Lee comparisons and such, but I can't say for sure until I seen the movie. I actually liked the cast and director but from the coming soon review this movie has a bad story, bad CGI, which sucks. This movie is only 1 hour and 46 mins long. According to that coming soon review they don't even get their powers until the 45 min mark. And the movie just ends when things get interesting. I am going to still see this for as cheap as possible ( four dollar mantinee) but jeesh this seems like a X-Men Origins, Green Lantern, Super Man Returns bad.

the Ang lee comparisons seem spot on for what the first half of the film seems like "sciency character drama" that tries to go above and beyond the super-hero genre

Yep. And I'd cast is like this

Reed: Matthew Mcconaughey

Sue: Emily Blunt

Johnny: Cam Gigandet

Ben: Seth Rogan

And I can see this dialog popping up when the arrive at the Future Foundation space station.

Sue: Johnny, I know this is a cutting edge research facility but don't ask a million questions while people are trying to work

Johnny: So don't be like Reed. Gotcha.

The Last Stand actually gave me indigestion. and how things were in the Xforums here didn't make it better. Those were rough days to be an X-Men fan.

indeed. Sometimes I think we are the only ones left who witnessed or remembers the drama behind X3 so accurately... so many seem to have forgotten....

hell i even remember a good chunk of the cast bad mouthing Singer (Halle, Rebecca, Ian, and Alan) but all that drama seems covered up now... though i wanted to blame all that drama on Tom Rothman... who's now at sony.. (which scares me with spidey)
Hey, I was there. X3 was actually why I joined these forums. Everyone had their own reason for how they knew Cyclops wouldn't die. That Gina thing happened. And we ignored the fact that it was directed by Brett Ratner and written by a couple stooges. We were hyped!

It's interesting. It's been a relatively quiet night on this forum tonight. We haven't heard a PEEP from Marvin, and a few others here who were so adamant that the rest of us were being unfairly rough on this movie.

What a difference a day (and some professional and fan reviews) can make. :whatever:

Like I said, I have no problems admitting I was wrong. I am just much more open minded when it comes to super hero flicks ( even ones that deal with characters I love). I liked the cast and director for this and dug Chronicle, but this movie seems to be a green lantern bomb. I still plan on seeing this for myself this weekend ( cheap mantinee) just to see if it is truly as bad as reviews say. The hate and fustrration seems like it was justified but fans that personally attacked and insulted people that were looking forward to the movie was wrong in my book. No matter how bad a movie is or how disappointed you are, that type of behavior is never cool. Just like I got into trouble for calling out a poster back in 2009 for calling posters that liked Transformers Revenge Of The Fallen ******ed and other mean spirited insults.

I'm too depressed tonight to even think about rebooting this reboot of a reboot. I hate to say it but...I'm mourning the [needless] corporate butchering and subsequent death of this franchise tonight. Another 10-plus years before the FF get a chance at live action. So stupid. :csad:

Off to bed. See you guys tomorrow.

actually.. according to Singer, he wanted Scott to be a big part of X3 and the Phoenix saga...

but he also said this well after the fact.. and well after the fact he was in near tears when a reporter asked him how he felt about X3 winning the box office against Superman Returns... so who knows if it was BS or not.
Appreciate the clarification. :cwink: I do think he probably imagined doing better by Scott -- he may have envisioned him making it to the final act and maybe even be the one to take down Phoenix. But I also think that TLS was ALWAYS going to be Wolverine's movie, and even if he wanted to do more for Scott, at the end of the day, I don't think Singer was going to put up a huge fight for it. I do think we'd have gotten better then what we did though with respect to his character.

I remember the denial in the Cyclops thread. People called the leaked picture of the Scott and Jean graves an obvious photoshop. We told ourselves that Fox couldn't be so stupid as to excise Scott from the Dark Phoenix Saga. We were such fools. But at least we learned not to trust Fox. "Fool me once..." and all that.

god don't remind me.. i was so jaded walking out of the theater... on one hand we had beast and the X-men flying, fighting and ice-ing up... but on the other hand they depowered and killed cast members... and totally butchered the phoenix... i mean.. how do you not have the "out of the water" money shot?

what's worse.. is the universal hatred for Spidey 3 seems to be not aging well.. so many youngin's love that film ... and it makes me cry.. i literally never felt more embarrassing to be a spider-man fan in my life than in that theater.. and i dressed as friggin sandman my senior year of highschool in 2004 (well before the film) with a name tag that said "Sandman" so people wouldn't have to guess who i was... -__- that films was far more embarrassing than that.

and people wonder why i'm so judgemental and skeptical of films... I know what I like and know what i don't.. and i can tell when something is FAR from what i'm going to like by now

i see. Well if this movie is just as boring as Ang Lee's Hulk then I will be mad.

Ive read the detailed spoilerish reviews, and from them I'd say it's more boring than Lee's Hulk.

Well mother Arad. I seem to have got an Arading joke going over that GodArad Naruto quip.

Arad FOX, and Trank the Arading Trankers.

This movie has to be straight trash to be as boring as Ang Lee's Hulk or Bryan Singers Superman Returns.

That's beyond what's physically possible.

Never underestimate the level of suck that can be added to a movie made for the wrong reasons and without respect to the material.

That outline wasn't bad at all, but Fox ruinrd it by using a space station and indoor labs hospitals etc.
That outline in way too confined----shuttle, space station.
Fox has this franchise in a bad way.
It going to take a ton of imagination.
One thing I'd love to see in any reboot is the Watcher observing and admiring the tenacity and resourcefulness of the FF in their early battles/adventures so he developes enough fondness for them to step in when Galactus finally shows up.

Hey kids, get drunk and steal **** from the government. You'll get superpowers!

Don't worry: that monstrosity was over two hours long and had Eric Bana and Jennifer Connelly as the leads. I think you're safe if you're measuring with that yardstick.

That being said: saying a movie is less boring than 03 Hulk is like saying something is less painful than a root canal without lidocaine.

this film already can't be as boring as HULK for the sheer fact it was 2.3 hrs long... and this film is merely an hour and a half. HULK automatically does win that race no matter what this film manages

If you make Rogan Ben, might as well make Efron Johnny.

No more chances Fox. Time to give it up.

God no to Rogen. Yancy St's own deserves better not worse than Arading Billy Elliott
