Yes and he (Drz) was on the Ant-man boards trolling when the reviews started in the 60's and the abruptly disappeared. The absolute worst kind of troll, but he developed his reputation, and now he'll have to live with it.

A combination of two X-Men characters did the same exact thing. He got defensive when I reminded him of how foolish he appeared when he prematurely buried GOTG.

Considering the current sociopolitical climate of American industrialists trying to force their way into other countries for capitalist gain I don't understand why that hasn't been used as a basis for the FF/Doom rivalry. It's topical and relevant and wouldn't need much back story. No need to continue trying to force a link between the FF/Doom revolving around the space accident. It's too convenient anyway.

I have more respect for those who are willing to go down with the FFINO ship than posters who abandoned thread after the first sign of bad news and scurried back to posting about franchises they actually care about.

I admire those going down with the ship... far more then those scurrying off.. but at least those scurriers are likely able to realize they were wrong thus embaressed. They may run away and hide from owning up to it.. but at least they're owning up to reality...

I do have much more admiration for the few who've owned up to it all and have admitted proverbial defeat and said "I hate saying it, but It looks like you guys were all right and called it long ago"

Jesus. This is disgraceful.

Come on guys, let Cyke and pk be. We've got more to discuss than talking about other hypesters.

They'll come around eventually. Hopefully

Debate people.....intelligently and civilly discuss what you see as shortcomings about the movie...but do not turn this into let's insult the other side.....

I foolishly denied it last year but it's 100% true, Trank made an expensive version of Chronicle.

'Member when the first image of Hobo Doom leaked? And we were told he would look good in his final version?

Good times...........

yeah he still looks like a sack of trash either way

You're right. At this point, I would've preferred Hobo Doom, covered in rags and blogging about Reed.

Doom as a Castro like figure - ruthless, but loved by the majority of his people - is so compelling it's shocking that FOX keeps dropping the ball. The fact that Victor has diplomatic immunity and the FF are invading a sovereign nation and defying international law when they go after Doom is so much more interesting than portraying him as just another super powered baddie.

The sad thing is ... I think I preferred that version. At least he had a mask, which was more in character than this awful sfx crash test dummy face.

Yup. Doom is literally getting the Dane Dehaan character's arc.

For the folks who have seen this and don't like it............

is it bad in a funny way, where you could enjoy it for a laugh and shake your head.

or is it depressing and boring?

My friend is dragging me to see this Friday AM (I am paying for a MI:RN ticket) and I want to know if we will be bored or be able to laugh t it?

Thanks!

Exactly. It practically writes itself.

All this talk is making me impatient to see the film for myself. It's also pretty entertaining, seeing some of the stuff that gets posted here and elsewhere. I've seen people insisting Marvel should sue Fox for making bad movies, and use that to get the rights back. :whatever:

You're glorifying Castro in that comparison. As a cuban I find that disgusting.

It's so amazing in a horrible fashion how Fox got in the right ballpark with Magneto, but for three times how horribly they screw up Doom to the point where not only are they not on the same page, they are in totally different books in totally different libraries in totally different continents.

Clearly you haven't heard all of this film's supporters say this same sort of thing as stories of Marvel pulling merchandise licenses broke...

I really don't see that happening.. i mean, sure there's likely a quality clause so FOX can't permanently destroy the Brand... but FOX could easily just as much say "you did nothing to support the brand via comics and comic merchandise" and they'd be at a long expensive stalemate in court....

What does Marvel merchandising have to do with the quality of the movie? Or the wholesale abandonment of the source material? Or advertising the movie with the Marvel logo (while excluding the Fox logo) in a way to make this appear like an MCU film?

Marvel/Disney is not dumb, Fox will not be sued for the film rights.

You can pretty much sue anybody over anything. But I don't think that's an ideal situation by any means. It'd be much better if the two sides could work out a deal. But the downright dishonesty with which Fox has handled this film and its marketing and the way they have run the FF brand so thoroughly into the ground is disturbing to say the least.

Henry Barnes at the Guardian didn't like it.
Doom, an iconic Marvel supervillain, loses his metal mask for something that looks like an Easter Island head wrapped in cling film. He looks silly, not scary.
Easter Island head in cling film description is the most accurate description of his look I've heard so far.
A sequel has been announced for June 2017. Do you know what would be really fantastic? Leaving them on the page.
