Fast & Furious 7 - Part 1

If they start over again, it will be interesting to see if Jaa, Statham, Russell, Hounsou and Rousey are involved.

I doubt they will be available or interested. That CNN report is first time I heard about them being behind in the schedule.

Yes but they also have to release a product that is complete. According to CNN filming was behind schedule and only 50% of shooting was complete, the film may not be salvageable no matter how much editing and CGI stuff they add. At the end of the day all they'll end up doing is ruining the franchise completely all in the name of getting Walker in there somehow. If the easiest solution is to write it off and start again they will do so.

That may be so. But 50% complete could mean a lot of things. That other 50% doesn't necessarily involve Paul Walker or at least not fully. There was another article that made mention that most of the acting parts were finished first and the action would be shot later. That could mean a lot of second unit stunt work in that 50%.

But who knows. Even the filmmakers don't know at this point what's going to happen which is why they've delayed any decision until at the earliest next month.

The problem too, is that most movie don't shoot in ORDER. So they probably got scenes from the ending, then the beginning, then the middle, then back to the whatever. Sometimes it's so scattered.

I've been going through articles upon articles and it seems like the issue is not so much with them unable to finish it but more in how to present the movie and the revenge aspect since they are hunted by Statham's character. All the articles make reference about how they want to show respect to Paul in the movie. That leaked scene from Fast 7 plays very eerie now specially the line Brian says regarding the no more funerals, he answers just one more. Things like that are probably some of the elements causing an issue now, the dramatic and danger overtones. I didn't read any spoilers for this movie but maybe Brian was actually going to be one of Shaw's victims, this could be another situation where it would be too close to reality.

Please don't reveal any spoiler or tell me if I'm correct or not regarding that last part.

This is a quote regarding how they shot it:

Sources say that Fast 7's production was organized to film the more conversational elements of the movie first and the action sequences later in order to ease director James Wan (who is taking over the franchise from Justin Lin) into the big-budget filmmaking process. In January, Walker and the rest of the Fast 7 team were scheduled to travel to Abu Dhabi to film additional scenes, including a major action sequence that was set to open the film.

50% of principle photography is my guess, which usually means the main cast members being involved. It's too early to say of course what the outcome will be, but if it's unsalvageable it's unsalvageable, it might end up costing more to try and fix it than it would be a page one re-write.

I'd rather have an untouched version of the film as much as possible. For god's sake, they continuously use CGI for the smallest things that can be done practically, why can't they do CGI trickery? The technology is there, the only thing is Universal going to invest in it? That's the big question.

PS: Any of you read that story that's being passed around on social networks of how to do the Fast 7 ending to honor Paul?

Universal has alresdy stated they do not want to use cgi to insert paul walker into any scenes he did not film. I guess they feel it would be disingenuous.

Where did they state that?

I am rewatching the first F&F right now (it's been many years since last time) and it brings back so many good memories. Even though it has a lot of silly stuff in it one thing I always liked about it was the cinematography and the way the soundtrack is mixed in with the scenes, as well as an entertaining cast.

Seems like they were closer than some articles suggested.

They were different personalities according to Paul Walker. I'm sure they were close but probably in the way you're close to your siblings but don't necessarily get along all the time.

Here's a Paul Walker quote about his relationship with Vin Diesel.

Vin and I are so east coast-meets-west coast, and we have different approaches to life. We found a respect for one another but we were such opposite ends of the spectrum. The reason why it's worked is because we are so different.

I don't know if we necessarily found a stride together because there are certain days I still want to crack him in the head! But he looks at me and there are days he wants to crack me in the head too. Then there are times he'll look at me and say, 'Man, I wish I could be more like you,' and I'm like, 'F**ker, I wish I could be more like you!'

They had a friendship clearly, but it wasn't all sunshine and roses with no clouds. It looked like they got along in their own unique way. Not everyone pals around the same.

I think Walker was the closest to Tyrese. He was the one who pushed to get him back in the franchise on Fast Five.

Did you and Paul Walker become tight off-screen after "2 Fast 2 Furious"?

Absolutely. We became friends before we shot, while we were shooting and after. I love Paul. He fought to bring me back to the franchise. Other people didn't want me back for whatever their reasons are, but Paul fought to get me back.

I'm glad he did. It made the series feel like more connected.

I'm still so damn sad about Paul's passing. I did a Fast & Furious marathon yesterday with my family in his honor. I also tweeted to Universal about how stupid their procedure is regarding the charity proceeds from the Fast 6 sales. You need to buy it through a website for them to donate the proceeds, so this means everyone buying it at retailers is left out. What a rotten way to help. Chances are a lot of folks are buying store exclusives for the features and collectibles included such as steelbook cases. I urge everyone to contact. Universal to let them know how stupid this plan is. The charity really needs these sales and at the moment it looks like Universal will pocket most of the profits sadly.

I caught Fast 5 yesterday on TV, right in that awesome robbery sequence, and I couldn't stop thinking about Paul. I wonder for how long this is gonna happen to me to start enjoying those films again.

I watched the original film and Into the Blue yesterday. Walker showed so much charisma in that first film. I enjoyed both of them. I'm gonna watch Fast Five sometime today.

Having watched the series up to part 5 yesterday, I really think now in hindsight that Fast Five was the perfect ending to the series. The sixth was really good as well but under these circumstances I don't see how part 7 can work now that they have to modify the original idea. Such a shame.

I also enjoyed the film joy ride (Which is called Roadkill in the UK).

Roadkill:woot:

I tried to do a Walker-thon but couldn't find some of his films at the store. I've never seen 8 Below but I read it's unnderrated. I thought it was another Snow Dogs. Into the Blue isn't a great story but the underwater camera shots are amazing , there is plenty of eye candy (alba), and surprisingly good action towards the end.

I actually like they were able to go home again for part 6. That was the perfect ending. It was the Statham bit that complicates it.
