I didn't really care for the Lucas Black character or Tokyo Drift for that matter but I agree about bringing him into the team due to him already being apart of the franchise and having strong ties to Han. Keeps the continuity that's been established for all 7 films going.

I'm one of the few that actually liked Tokyo Drift. It's not on my top 3, but I still enjoyed it. The movie had a simple story of Sean being a fish out of the water. He has to adjust to a new country and culture, while reconnecting with his father. Along the way he makes new friends and enemies. In terms of cars and racing, Tokyo Drift has plenty of that. It's the second movie (FnF 1 being the first) that had more emphasis on car culture, while the rest were about taking down a crime or drug lord, heists, etc.

I enjoyed Tokyo Drift. It's the movie that got me into the F&F franchise. I remembering hearing about the first one when it came out at the time but I never really paid any attention to it until Tokyo Drift. My least favorite in the franchise for me has been 2Fast2Furious.

Sean sure. Not so sure about the other 2

Bow Wow I dont think would bring anything.
Same with the girl.

I mean the team pretty much has all they need.
Leader and muscle: Dom,
Smart guy: Tej/Ramsey if she sticks around
Tough girl and love interest: Letty
Comedy relief and wild card: Roman
Additional muscle/extra: Hobbs

all they really need is a "straight man"

PLus Lucas Black and Bow Wow are series regulars on TV shows. I wonder if they can dip out for a few episodes.

I just figured that Sean's girlfriend could fulfill the "Gisele" quota but I guess Ramsey could do that too if she sticks around. Since Jordana Brewster may not be in the franchise anymore, they could always use some more women on the team.

I really enjoyed this one. It was just so fun. Tyrese was hilarious. Loved all the jokes. There were some small things that I also loved such as
Hobbs having a daughter or Dom and Letty were actually married
The music and locations were amazing. And last but not least, the ending with the Paul tribute was amazing. It was sad but very fitting. Overall, I really enjoyed this movie and I don't care about the lack of plot/story.

I loved the stark contrast of what they each wore to the wedding...

Saw the film yesterday. Like the last 3 "Fast and Furious" films, I thought this was very entertaining and enjoyable to watch. Sure it had its issues, but the charisma and energy that the Cast brings more than made up for it.

As others have said, Dominic and his crew are essentially superheroes in this franchise. That's the funny thing about this series. It feels like a mixture of several genres out there: Heist, Racing, Spy-Thriller, etc.

Of course the real emotional thing about this film was Paul's sendoff. What's funny is that the film does set up the whole arc of Brian having to come to terms with the fact that he now has a family to be responsible for and is having issues with adjusting to a domestic life so even if real life circumstances weren't a issue here, they could have believably retired the character.

However, it's the final moments of his character where he's driving alongside Dominic that it feels like the fourth wall has been broken. Not that I see it as a bad thing as I thought his sendoff was done very beautifully. I never thought that I would actually find myself being close to tears from watching a "Fast and Furious" film. But yeah, it's way that they did his exit where it felt more like a real life tribute to Paul (which it was) than it did as a closure to a narrative arc for a fictional character.

I think the moment that really ends up being the biggest tearjerker moment for me is the final shot of Brian smiling at Dominic before we get that overview shot of their cars splitting and seeing Brian's car ride into the sunset.

And I honestly feel that the producers shouldn't even bother trying to show Brian's character in any way after this film in the same way that Nolan didn't show the Joker in "TDKR". This was the perfect sendoff for Brian's character under these circumstances and I feel like showing him (through means of body double and CGI) again in a cameo, like seeing Dominic calling up his sister and showing her talking to him on the phone while Brian is in the background playing with the kids, would cheapen this great sendoff.

On another note, I still can't believe that some parents would actually bring their little kids to watch these films with them. Either they are very laid about these types of films or can't afford to hire a babysitter, but why would you bring your toddler kids to watch a film that comes from a franchise where seeing several women wearing close to nothing and being presented in a overtly sexual way is a common thing?

^Because it's PG-13 and that usually warrants summer time popcorn fun. It's a very broad rating.

Sure they could use another woman. I just hope it's someone with actual skills. Ramsay as kinda annoying she was earlier on at least she has computer skills. I dont remember what Sean's girlfriend could do

Yeah my showing (early Sunday morning) had a very little kid in it too.

Idk I get that sometimes you can't afford or find a babysitter, but I still think it's really messed up to bring a little "crying age" kid to a movie.I think it's a jerk move and very inconsiderate. It's not like say a train, where a crying child would suck, but sometimes you gotta get somewhere and train is the best way. With movies, it's going to come out on DVD, it's going to be in theaters for a while, so I dont get why bring a baby. At least if you have to take it, take the kid to a showing where their wouldnt be that many people later in the release date
Luckily the child in my screening didnt make much noise.

I dont care much about the women barely wearing anything thing, or even the violence. For me it's just the fact that it's loud. C'mon taking a baby where their not sure what's happening and all and all they hear are really loud noises doesnt seem good.

Herolee, I definitely think there was inevitable fourth wall breaking during the ending.

Regarding the Paul Walker related visual effects I thought they did the best that they could do under the awful circumstances. I'm pretty sure that last shot of him was a face replacement and my mother didn't even notice.

THe only time it was jarring was the scene when they were overlooking LA.

But what are you going to do you can't really hold that against the movie.

I agree they shouldn't show Brian in future films since his send off was really good. But I wouldn't mind a cameo of Mia in future films just to let us know what they are up to.

Drift is my personal favorite and got me into the franchise.
The whole American in a Kung Fu movie complete with getting owned in his own bread and butter, meeting a master, training and training montage and the final duel emerging enlightened. It's too great and pretty much got Universal and alot of fans back on board after it seemed everyone was done thanks to Singleton. Lin became the studio's guy and rightly so.
Kinda funny seeing Wan pull a shane black in a way and be given all of this working product no doubt resulting in the franchise's biggest haul.

Yeah it was.

I want to get it straight that I too am not complaining, I'm just talking about the film.

The scenes I noticed of CG Paul were
- The scene of him putting Jack in the car in front of Dom's house

- After they retrieved the device and Dom said how he missed the bullets (also some shots of him at Dubai by the pool with the crew)

- When they got back to LA overlooking the city

- The last scene with Tony Jaa was definitely unfinished (everything was shot in a dark building) and him saying "Too slow!" as he slid down the elevator shaft

- Of course the last scene at the beach and him driving off
Overall, they did a really good job

I can understand if kids around 8-12 years old would go to these things, but seeing parents bring their kids around 4-6 years old is pushing it. Plus, I doubt that the people who are going to see this film aren't aware of the previous films, let alone of the content that they portray.

I personally think it's just irresponsible as a parent.

Yeah, I never do like it when parents bring their little babies or kids that have problems sitting still in theaters. Every time I spot a infant being brought into the theater room, I always start praying that the kid will remain silent during the film.lol

Plus, I feel like those parents are like potentially ruining everyone else's experiencing by bringing their infants to films like this since theater tickets aren't cheap and the last thing that people want is to have to endure hearing a baby cry nonstop during the movie.

Agreed. Personally, I thought the last shot of Brian in the film, which obviously required CGI, was the best which I'm happy about because that was technically the last closing shot for the character's profile.

Has any of the Fast movies released the short film Vin did called Los Bandoleros? People either have forgotten about it or didn't think it was canon but apparently it is, since Letty's flashbacks sorta reference it.

Dom and Letty definitely got married during the Los Bandoleros timeline. Han was in Dominican Republic with them too in the short movie. Maybe he was the only other member in the crew who attended their wedding..

Just got back from seeing this  I enjoyed it, but I didn't find it better than Five, or even 6 actually. I'd give this one a 7, whereas I think Five is like a 9, and Furious 6 is like an 8 for me.

So if I had to rank all the movies right now for me, I'd say

Fast Five
The Fast & The Furious
Furious 6
Fast & Furious
Furious 7
Tokyo Drift
2 Fast 2 Furious

I still enjoyed it but other than the send-off to Paul which was very well done, I could just feel throughout how this series hit it's peak with Five and it's starting to get a little too silly for it's own good.

Did anyone notice one of the henchmen during the rescuing Ramsey scene as being one of the racers from 2 Fast 2 Furious (John Cenatiempo)?

I thought that was pretty fun. Reminded me of how they put Ricky Tan and Soo Yung's driver in Rush Hour 3 even though they were both different characters in 1 & 2.

I heard a guy outside the theater mention this. His girlfriend was like "how do you know that?"

Also I thought it was kinda irresponsible of Dom and crew to bring a whole gang of dangerous criminals to the streets of LA where loads of civilians could have gotten killed. It made for a cool finale but when I think about it a chopper shooting missiles and stuff would have defintely killed or injured people. And LA was pretty empty during the finale civilian wise which also threw me off. I know they aren't super heroes like The Avengers but they should have taken the fight outside the city. I know Ramesy needed to be near a signal tower to do the hack, but still seems kinda iffy on their part.

i don't think they expected helicopters though

they said they wanted roads and a location they knew well and they were driving all around town to keep ramsey seen, and close enough to get the hack, i think they thought they could out drive everyone

I had posted a list as well a few posts back on the ones I spotted and it's all the ones you mentioned. Sucks that I knew what process they used as I found myself probably paying more attention to it than I should have. Obviously this isn't a complaint towards the film or filmmakers. Really really happy with that last scene how it turned out!

I noticed him immedately but it tok me a sec to remember exactly what character he played in the older movie. Here's him with Statham during their time working on the movie.

Yeah, well it was just one of those things where you couldn't help but zone in on Paul during his scenes to see which ones had to be touched up. It's unfortunate how that had to be that way but I still enjoyed the movie.

Another scene I thought was touched up but it didn't seem like it was was when Mia talked to Brian in the beginning who was sitting in the garage upset about what was going on. That scene seemed off or shot like it was hiding Paul but it seemed legit when the camera was on him. Either way, the scene did feel out of place or like they cut a chunk out.

I really enjoy Tokyo Drift , maybe because it came after 2f2f , but still I thought it was good. So this will be weird to say but I don't care for Lucas Black joining the group. I suppose it will happen though.

I loved this film. It fully embraced the ridiculously over the top action. The plot doesn't make much sense and they might of over complicated some things. That being said it didn't hurt the experience for me. Then of course the tribute to Walker was classy and probably the best send off Ive seen.

I'm sure they will move forward. I don't think that's greedy or wrong. It's been a franchise for a decade and even if Walker quit on his own terms there would still be sequels. Ill miss the comraderie between Dom and Brian. The prospect of another sequel does sound fun. Especially if they cast Helen Mirren as the matriarch of the Shaw family.

I'm not going to lie. I want to travel to a parallel universe to see what the original Furious 7 would have been like. This film was good and I am so happy for the money it is making on behalf of the franchise, but I felt the plot was a little convoluted. Of course, we know why but still. I will say that the ending is one of the most satisfying endings I've ever seen.

Agreed on both counts. Part of me hopes the script someone will end up on the net. Doubt it though.

I will say Fast and Furious 8 is my most anticipated movie for a while. Not because Im thinking "Wow i love these guys I need to see them again" but because the franchise is in a good yet odd place.
-Obviously no Walker who was a big part of them film series. I mean essentially he was the heart, his building a family with Mia was such a large part of the last 3 films. Without him theyre out of a straight man what are they gonna do about that? Bring in Sean from Tokyo Drift as we discussed earlier?
-To a lesser extent, no Jordana Brewster who while she doesnt do much is still Dom's sister
-The Rock is the busiest man in show business next to Kevin Hart and his role keeps shrinking. I wonder how they'll do the next one. He really likes the franchise so Im sure he'd want to stick around
-[BLACKOUT]Kurt Russell Im pretty sure is coming back. It felt like he was supposed to die but then they changed it in editing/reshoots[/BLACKOUT]
-[BLACKOUT]What are they going to do with Jason Statham? He seems to big of an actor/villain to keep on ice. Once it was revealed that Owen was hospitalized and not dead and then Deckard was still alive I just have a feeling they'll be back.[/BLACKOUT]
-Also how many more movies will they do? I heard a rumor that they'll go to 10.

Im really curious to see how all these pan out

See I didnt even notice any of them other than the last scene and then when their overlooking LA.

So yeah they did a really good job
I have to see it again but I think the scene where[BLACKOUT] Dom was "dead" and Letty was talking to him[/BLACKOUT] it seems like they used the same reaction shot twice. But that couldve just been my mistake
Yeah it was.

I want to get it straight that I too am not complaining, I'm just talking about the film.

Oh yeah for sure. It didnt come off as complaining.

I dont think anyone is complaining really. Just pointing it out.

Yeah the ending was very satisfying. Really sad, but still kinda happy, but it worked so perfectly.

.
Exactly. It's basically saying: "1) I dont care about my baby being comfortable 2) I dont care if he annoys everyone. I wanna see my movie"

Which is just a s***y mentality to have.

I've yet to see this film but I just wanna say the success of the franchise is nothing short of an amazing anomaly. By all intents and purposes it should have died after the second film yet it's some how not only survived but it's actually gotten better and bigger as the series went forward. Now it's one of the biggest franchises on the planet with arguably the most diverse cast going around. It's a damn shame one of its leads are no longer with us. That said I'm looking forward to seeing where this series goes from here, if the opening weekend is anything to go by it's going to be around for a while.
