I just saw this again today, on a much larger screen, and I loved it more than the first time!

Thinking on it another thing I didn't really like was Statham vs Diesel.

I mean, yeah I know these movies are silly and Im 100% on board with that. However, I think they made that fight really silly in the beginning. It felt more like a Star Wars prequel fight minus the lightsabers. Dom is a street brawler not a guy who uses pieces of metal as swords...although he did almost kill someone with a wrench.

They should've made it more like the other fights, primarily hand to hand
.

There's actually an interesting story how that came about. Apparently when the director came to visit Vin at his home he found out he was practicing a phillipino martial art using sticks and told him all about it. So Wan thought it was interesting and wanted to incorporate it into the film. Vin said Dom would use wrenches instead. They talked about this in the today interview. Also how Ludacris was learning 59 steps and generally that they wanted to bring something new to this series with the fight scenes.
I give them credit for giving us fight scenes that felt unique. Rock vs Statham, Rock vs Vin , and Vin vs Statham are very different and I like what they did with it.

The only thing I didn't like about the fights was the head on collision where they both hop out of the car and crack their neck. It was a cool visual but overtly silly.

I was Ok with the wrench fight. I wasn't Ok with the DomHulk smash. I literally rolled my eyes in the theater when that happened. :funny:

I did roll my eyes at a couple other things but fight-wise that was just like Uhm, Ok.

Yeah, the cement stomp-grenade helicopter drop were the only 'bridge catch' jump the shark moment.

That fight got nothing on the Dom/Hobbs fight from Fast Five. But yeah.....I rolled my eyes at that too.

7/10 for me. My first fast movie at the theatre and it was well worth the price of admission. The meta sendoff for Brian/Paul was excellent.

Eh I guess that's cool. I wouldve just preferred something different

Wait, did you....did you take post seriously?

Lol that's what I was thinking.

Don't kill the vibe

If they take it to NYC I can see them bringing in some sort of terrorist organization as the antagonist which will involve Mr. Nobody and Eva Mendes using her government connections (seeing as how I just read its rumored she'll return).

A Fast movie without Paul Walker could work with just Dom and Letty. Tej and Rome are great but there hasn't been a lot of fluid interaction between them and Dom as there were with Brian. Remember he was their friend first cause they new him the longest. Rodriguez and Diesel can handle it, but if they bring in Mendez then I can definitely see Rome and Tej still working. And Ramsey definitely needs to stick around cause Rodriguez shouldn't be the only woman on the team. Not sure how they could bring in Lucas Black's character though in a way that makes sense. Because besides him being friends with Han he doesn't really bring anything to the table unless they use him and his ties to the Yakuza after Tokyo Drift.

I just want this story to be more street and less xXx because I definitely see it heading in that direction with the introduction of Russell's character. Don't bring back Statham but find another story that actually works and isn't forced. One thing I like about the movies is that since 4 it's been a connected story. Brian and Letty work tracking Braga who was working for Shaw who ends up getting Letty to work for him in the end which gives us Fast 6 and we know how that leads into 7. It's not exactly a story they're pulling out there ass for the sake of a story but I'm afraid that's what might happen now with part 8.

There were two moments in this movie that made me roll my eyes. One was the when Ramsey got passed through the windows of two moving cars. I know the movie wasn't striving for realism here, but if someone actually attempted to do that, they probably would have gotten ripped in half.

The other was Iggy Azalea showing up. Yeah, it was only for a microsecond, but it was so stupid and pointless and just a lame attempt to promote an already overexposed and horrible, derivative performer. I turned to my date in the theater and said, "WORST. CAMEO. EVER." Though in retrospect, it wasn't as bad as the Bill O'Reilly cameo in that Transformers movie.

AS much Ive enjoyed the last 3 Ive said since Fast Five I would love another one with more street racing. I mean the heist angle could still be there but yeah more street races would be awesome.

I didn't notice her because I don't know what she looks like. I know who she is, but I can't picture her right now...

She showed up right after Michelle Rodriguez finished her race at the beginning. She was that blonde who complimented her.

This was the moment where I literally thought, "Yup, he's a superhero." He even had the one-liner before taking him down with his Hulk strength.

I like your idea for a storyline with terrorists in NyC, but Id like Statham to come back, maybe the crew needs his help since he has a past dealing with the terrorists. Diesel, Rock, Statham, Kurt Russell working together to bring down terrorists in New York is too much of a good idea.:hmr:

Getting back Mendes would definitely be a plus. If for no other reason than. . . LOOK AT HER!!!

That's definitely something to consider. And lest we forget [BLACKOUT]Owen Shaw is alive! Albeit in a coma, they don't specify whether or not he's in a vegetative state with no hope of recovery. [/BLACKOUT]HELL, if they wanted to, they could find a way to bring back Carter Verone!

Can't believe they haven't considered a villain team up. Johnny Tran, Verone, Braga, the Yakuza and the Shaws all against Dom and the gang.

Brian killed Tran at the end of the first film, and the Yakuza (or more specifically Takashi, the former DK) have no reason to beef with Torretto or his crew.

Yeah, one of the strangest things about this particular action franchise is that a lot of the villain survive.

Damn it, you're actually right about that *back to drawing board*
