FF 2 Rate and Review Thread

The logos and endorsement aspect really turned me off. With the Transformers I can come to terms with it considering how dependent the movie is on the vehicles, but in a Fantastic Four movie it takes away from what makes them fantastic when they keep on endorsing all of these random companies. At least Sony was subtle with it in SM3.

Maybe, but that kind of blatant product placement distracts you from the story. Everybody knows the Dodge endorsement is for the movie, not only the fictional characters. if it was a fake brand made up for the movie, the point would have come across without being so annoying.

im a big fan of the comics,but i not beholden to them,(change's are needed sometime's, it just depends on what they are, ,exicution and asking yourself does this change delve to the core or invigorate the material in a positively constructive way) im a kirby/lee

Doom.
never have i seen a worst miss handling of a legendary marvel villain

the producers/directors were worryed from the get go about adapting because they ASSUMED that peoplle would find him campy because of austin powers lampooning of the Evilllllsupervillan rutine(which is kind of idiotic when you take into acount that dr doom not only inspired darth vader,arguebly amoung the greatist cinima villans,but if fully realized and polished could of been one of the most meancing,visualy,(all the cool **** with his armor,common fox)and psycoligicly intersting screen villans in years

she had a real ''gidgit goe's to science class'' kind of attiude that completly took me out of the film

i dint mind this so much(sorry, as much as i adore his classic look,i think the death star had to go,)they went for a more elemental,etherial quality that i visualy worked well,one the other hand when it came to the big show down with surfer and galactus they totaly short changed any dramtic ommph by having him be so defeted so quickly( and cheaply)

When Sue started with the FF prior to marrying Reed, she was around 20/early 20s. This isn't late-era FF.

And I'm REALLY baffled by your use of the word "petulant." What exactly about it was petulant?

Though i'm not a big fan of the movie, i didnt think Alba was that bad in her role at all. In fact the actors were the least of this movies problems IMO.

And I´m tired of hearing the "fun" argument in defense of the movie. Part of the problem with it is exactly that I didn´t have as much fun as I was hoping for... Honestly, most of the humor was lame, with a couple exceptions, okay, Johnny getting Thing´s body is funny, I didn´t even hate Richards dancing that much - I thought it was nice to see the guy not being a total dork for a change -, but most of the jokes were the kind you telegraph from miles away.

I don't think it's a defense,for many ppl they do go to the cinema for these types of films to have a laugh and fun time

Okay, I understand that, but many people use that against criticism of the movie, like I have to accept that a movie feels dumb, shallow and sloppy cuz it´s meant to be "fun". There are plenty of movies where I had a great time and the filmmakers never felt the need to underestimate me to entertain me.

I'm actually tired of people saying that our opinion of a movie is nothing less than a defense of it.....thats pure bunk to me.....If we don't get a sequel, I'm actually ok with that, because I got the 4 that I wanted to see in the first movie....

It wasn´t meant for you, or for necessarily everyone who enjoyed it, if it was really fun for you, great, more power to you, but there ARE fans who use the "fun" argument as a way to try and invalidate the opinions of those who didn´t like it, like we were expecting a "dark and intellectual" movie, which isn´t true.

I agree, many people used this excuse for X3, which is just as pathetic as the movie IMO.

Okay, I kind of understood Sue´s feeling about the fear of not having a "normal" life and stuff, but it didn´t feel properly developed to me, it felt forced to keep bringing it up in face of the urgency of the events. I don´t feel a chemistery between Alba and Gruffud.

I have to disagree, and agree with what Doug said, he said those scenes were some of the most tender scenes he has seen in comic book movies.....and I agree with that....so I don't see those scenes as mistakes at all....

but I totally disagree with anyone that says the characterization and chemistry was off......that IMO, are 2 of the biggest strengths of this movie....and far from weaknesses

Yes, I thought the character scenes were excellent....the scenes I mentioned before was because those were the scenes mentioned by others....

I thought my statement that the "characterization and chemistry" were strengths of the movie was explanation enough, as to how I saw the entire movie....

Yeah, and it was completely left up in the air what happened to him and Galactus, if he could stop him before, why didn´t he do it? Why would Galactus give him enough power to fight him back? Galactus was completely wasted, not only visually, but as one of the most fascinating Marvel characters, someone who does the most horrible thing, but out of pure survival needs.

1) It was obviously a suicidal gesture to do so, judging by his words to Galactus and the situation it left him in. I naturally assumed he wasn't that suicidal. He came off like he was more of a self-centered being until he met Sue and started to realize that it's not just about HIS people, it's about all people.

2) Well, Galactus is usually quite weak when he approaches a new world for devouring in the comics. It's not like Surfer hasn't successfully repelled Galactus in the comics, so I guess the question should be posited to Stan Lee.

One change I'd make in this series for the next run, if their is one, is to make the F4 explore. I forget what comic it was, but it put it perfectly, "The X-Men defend, the Avengers avenge, and the Fantastic 4 explore". That's one thing I felt they've missed out on, the F4's mutations were caused by exploring, and many of their better stories have been because of it as well. In the F4 movies it seems more about them twiddling their thumbs worried about public image and then some threat falls into their laps. I'd personally like for them to go exploring, and by accident bring some big threat back with them and have to clean up their mistake instead of waiting at home for a super villain to knock on their door.

But, that I remember, it wasn´t the Surfer, but the nulifier that made Galactus go away in the original story. It doesn´t have to be exactly the same thing, but they could have tried to come up with some similar kind of device.

And I´d definitely tone down the comedy a little, or at least try to make it less silly. Let me be more specific with what I said before about the jokes being lame. For instance, when Johnny asks Alicia, "did you see the girl I was dating?" Even being a rethorical question, it´s a pretty ******ed thing to say, given that Johnny has known Alicia for a while. I´m not a professional screenwriter, but even I think I can come up with something at least slightly smarter:

Johnny: Too bad you can´t see the girl I was dating.
Alicia: Actually, the worst part is I can hear what she says.

There you go, Alicia´s point came across - that Johnny has shallow relationships with shallow chicks - with irony and it didn´t have to make Johnny look even dumber than he´s supposed to be.
