FF 2 Rate and Review Thread

What took you so long?
Maybe he was busy.....:csad:

He might have just seen it on DVD, which I have a feeling alot of people waited for this movie on DVD.......which is a small amount of the upsetting BO numbers....
After being disappointed by the first movie, I wasn't planning on seeing the second until the DVD came out.

In hindsight, it was worth matinee prices.

Man. I am so glad I didn't see this film in theater. 2.5/10

I just watched this movie and all I have to say is WTF?

I saw part 1 and I have to say I wasn't that impressed, but then I know it was catered to 10 year olds so it made sense. Part 2 also was catered to kids and early teens and in that case, it's fine for that market (regardless of how illogical and irrational the plot was.

But as a movie it fails critically in every aspect. The acting and dialogue were sub-par, the comedy was sub-par, and the action missed an important aspect: GALACTUS. The action and suspense was entertaining at times so it wasn't a complete failure. All in all, the movie is forgettable in my eyes and only worth a rental.

And I know this movie is illogical, but DAMN: Since when could "Thing" pick up 3.7 MILLION POUNDS over his head??? (the London Ferris wheel)

I'd give it an average 3 out of 5, or an IMDB rating of 6 out of 10.

Wow...I feel like Im the only one who liked this movie, I give it a B...but then again I never read the Silver Surfer/Galactus storyline so I cant say I know exactly how some fans are feeling.

But I think it was really fun, certainly much better than the first and I really hope they make a FF3...really, really bad. This was a really fun movie, I liked it more than SM3. The only problem is its running time, way too short imo...I wish there was more talking scenes in the film to get to know the charecters more.

I liked it and gave it a B when it came out as well, but thinking about it the movie might be deserving of a C (though I wouldn't give it one). It's an above average movie, but I'm hoping we see another FF film years down the road in a restart. I don't feel Fox deserves to continue profiting off of sequels that only marginalize the franchise further.

And over there is your answer to yourself! :yay:

I give it a D plus, and only because of the awsome job Doug Jones and WETA did, mind you. :hyper:

I enjoyed the movie more on DVD than i did when i first saw it, but it still suffers from SO many problems, honestly, what would have been wrong with making the movie the same length as X2?

Plus, did anyone else notice, when Sue is watching the TV after appearing naked in public, in the first version i saw Reef says "....why do watch this GARBAGE."

But on the DVD, the word 'garbage' is cut out, Reed stills mouths it, but it is cut, maybe E! complained or something.

I also noticed this.

And Spectral Motion. :D!!!!

Meh - I've watched it a couple of times since, and it's okay, but it could have been so much better for the money. And should have been.

That is my WHOLE problem with the movie, it SHOULD have been ssssooooo much better, and they had the money to make a decent enough movie, but what we got was just average.

Between the watering down of a great story form the comics, the product placement, lying to the fans, making people take down bad reviews, cutting things out to please E!, the over-involvement of the bastards at fox, the PG rating, and Jessica Alba's look, Fantastic four:Rise of the silver surfer might be THE most compormising film since the days of ed wood.

But I'll give it this: the edge this one has on the first movie is that it is much closer to the genuine fantastic four experience: decent mix of comedy and adventure, squabling family, international/interplanetary intrigue, military involvement, (something close to) internal struggles, and the stuff at latveria.

Juuust gonna be a sneak and copy and paste right here. :D

You know what? I just bought Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer last night and after disagreeing with the fanboys on the first one, I must say I have to disagree with you guys on this one too. To keep it short this movie was a blast and I had a great time watching it with my friends and all of us being comic book fans did not understand the hate. After this and Spider-man 3 being the fun rides they were and being bashed...I must say I've lost faith in the fanboy opinion.

On that note, I retract my statement. Galactus definately was not butchered. He was not the cloud itself. He was amongst the chaos of the cloud itself. Hell, I even noticed the shape of his helmet as he was screaming before the Surfer "destroyed" them both. I'll go back and watch it later just to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me (but then again all three of us blurted out "GALACTUS!" on that exact part that I was refering to so maybe I'm not crazy).

Oh and Doom may be different but I absolutely loved this character anyway. Butchered? Yes. If you keep making comparisons. But you can do the same thing with Blade. Movie Doom isn't nearly as awesome as comic book doom but damn if he ain't one badass, fun character. I loved screaming with my friends at the screen like we were kids again. "WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?! DON'T LEAVE HIM ALONE WITH THAT THING! ****ING IDIOTS!". Good times. This is what a comic book movie should feel like. I really can't wait for a sequel.

EDIT: Oh and the Surfer is just pure awesome put on screen. Those eyes are just freaky as hell and even without the effects the costume looked great. Loved the raw power coming from this guy. Got chills when he got his board back and his theme song came on for the first time. Then when he rushed off to face Galactus? Grrreat stuff. I say give Tim Story no limits for the next one and let's really watch him cut loose. Regret not seeing this one in theaters.

EDIT 2: Oh and this movie definately gets a 9/10 for me. The first one got a 7/10 from me, for a little perspective. Just one fun fun fun fun fun movie. Rare to find an experience like this that isn't pure crap.

9/10! Do you honestly hold it up there with the best Marvel has to offer? Sorry, not being an ass just curious why you like so much :yay: .

I think he said why he liked it so much....

Why is it hard to believe that someone could actually really love it....

There are alot of movies that I absolutely loved that were totally butchered by the critics, and many people that watched.....but I loved it....so what?:yay:

This isn't one of those......lol

I liked it alot, but love would not be a word I would use......:cwink:

So what do you guys think could have been improved?

Better director, better cast, new direction, character looks for the Thing, Dr. Doom, pretty much everything.

You misunderstand me Albafan, i wasnt criticising or questioning his opinion, i was just wondering why he changed his mind so much considering he didnt seem to like it first time.

I was just curious is all:yay: .

This movie stands up really well to repeat viewings. It's just very enjoyable and doesn't have those scenes where I feel like leaving to make a sandwhich till things kick up again (like the Spider-man and X-men movies). It's one thing to be well-written, it's another to be enjoyable. Shakespeare wrote some great stuff but I wouldn't grab a group of friends and pop in ye olde Hamlet DVD. I watch movies to enjoy myself. If I can't do that then the movie didn't do it's job in my opinion.

So what do you guys think could have been improved?

Plenty IMO, but mostly, The Surfer and The Thing should have been in it more. And we could definately have used more dialogue from the Surfer, especially explaining the reason he turned against Galactus.

After Sue savid his life and he ressurects her i would have preferred something like this to what we got:

"Any creature that puts its life above that of another should be preversed, these were a part of my teachings on Zenn La. Treasure each moment with her, and tell her she was right......we do have a choice."
