It ain't gonna change.

I don't care if FF wins, I just don't want THAT sequence to win.

one could say doom took the beating because inevitably he could...Until Doom stood there and let Johnny beat him.
The fight was great up until the weak ending of it.
Doom was beaten too easily.

and he was probably still surprised by the range of attacks all coming from the same location..
he wasn't beaten as such, johnny's objective was to take out his device which he did and doom was too arogant to notice.
again with more time and a bigger budget, this could have been highlighted but i don't think they wanted the attention to stray from the REAL danger that was galactus so thats why they did it that way.
sm3 had $ 265 million budget NUFF SAID
I understand doom didn't lay on an offensive but you have to remember this isn't just a normal wrap, this is potentially a reeds wrapp with ben's strength and a sue based force field to reinforce it all.Doom just stood there, even when Johnny was in plain sight. That is weak. Also, with the power cosmic, simply wrapping around him shouldn't have worked.
It was just a weak ending to the fight.
Conversley, FF vs. Doom was awesome in the movie.

Maybe the surfer isn't actually as powerful as he seems when under the threat of a super skrull type person.
doom got camera shy and froze possiblly due to arrogance of not being affected and secondly due to being stunned by the fact johnny had all their powers.
luckily that scene is pretty much all cgi, so it can be easily lengthened...
perhaps he wasn't able to summon as much power as the surfer could with his artificial device and that's why he wasn't as much of a menace as originally anticipated. He had more than enough time to obsorb that. They were fighting and he was hitting him with nearby stuff way before he hooked him.
Also, Doom seemed in pain and helpless when he was tied up, hence why his defeat his weak.
I liked the chase leading up to the climax in Shangai, but the Johnny vs. Doom battle just has an abrupt and simplistic ending that makes Doom look weak.
Doom needs to get more respect in the manner of his defeat. In FF, once all 4 show up, he basically gets smacked. In this, once Johnny has their powers (though Doom has more power than him easily), he gets smacked.
This fight should have been more impressive.
