Days of Future Past First Class Official Casting Thread

I suppose a better choice of words would have been... He does very much resemble a younger version of the actor/character in this photo, even though he's not posing as such...

"When will these people learn how to fly...?"

:word:

hmm I dunno if I could see him as Beast. I don't like him as Cyclops either. Who knows, I didn't see Ledger as the Joker at first either

cyclops has a strong bone structure that goes with every leader Johnson does not have that marsden did

he can always banshee or something lol

I'm sorry, is Johnson suppose to look like someone from the former cast? Because I don't see it.

This photo really caught my eye...

I definitely see a young Stewart in there. And he really doesn't look any younger than 30.

Hm, Comic Book Movie made a post about a rumored Storm casting, but deleted it. But, this thumbnail was there next to the google link for the article:

Anyone know who that is?

PS- CBM is as reliable as a sack of poo.

They got it from here.

The gossip site says that since James McAvoy landed the role of Xavier his co-star in The Last King of Scotland Kerry Washington "is a shoe-in for the role if she wants the role of Storm".

Given that she is 33 its most likely bull. The site said something about Meagan Good a few weeks ago.

Oh, CBM strikes again!

Never mind then.

Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation and Marvel Studios are gearing up for a September 2010 start date for the next installment in the X-Men franchise. Actor James McAvoy has landed the lead role of a young Charles Xavier, aka Professor X in the film.

McAvoy's career is in full swing with two films in post production and scoring the starring role in this project. McAvoy was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture Golden Globe in 2008 for Atonement. McAvoy is repped by Theresa Peters of United Talent Agency.

The film is being co-produced by Brian Singer - who's company, Bad Hat Harry Productions, is one of the production companies involved in this film. Singer has produced and directed such films as the first X-Men, Superman Returns, Valkyrie among many others. He has also been nominated for 4 Primetime Emmys as executive producer of the hit FOX series House.

Lauren Shuler Donner's production company The Donners' Company, is also co-producing. The Donners' Company has produced the films Constantine, 16 Blocks, The Secret Life of Bees , and all of the first three X-Men films.

Shooting will commence in September, 2010 in London, UK. Auditions are taking place in Los Angeles, and there will also be some casting done in London. Details on how actors can submit for this film are posted on the following website:

X-Men: First Class Auditions and Casting Information

The film has a scheduled release date of June 3, 2011.

Ugh, I wish I was in LA!

:p

Kerry is gorgeous. I think she would be a great Storm and James and her certainly had a lot of chemistry in The Last King of Scotland.
But this is just gossip. :o

Can't see the Washington rumor panning out because she's simply too old to be playing a high school student.

McAvoy is undoubtedly talented but not someone i can see as Xavier. Then again it is hard imagining anyone besides Patrick Stewart in the role (McKellen too for that matter). I love Vaughn's work so i trust his judgement though i'll be somewhat skeptical until we get photos/footage.:o

As it turns out, McAvoy is a fan of Stewart's so that made being presented The Orange Rising Star Award at the BAFTAs 4 years ago extra special. Later that year he gushed about it in an interview.

When James McAvoy won the British Academy of Film and Television Art Rising Star Award this year, he was understandably overwhelmed. Not because he bested the likes of Gael García Bernal and Rachel McAdams. Not even because he genuinely didn't expect to win. No, the 27-year-old Scottish actor was simply stunned to be meeting one of his idols. "Patrick Stewart presented the award," McAvoy says, still sounding incredulous. "And I'm a Trekkie. Are you kidding?"

You never fail, Retro.

ohh, old Charles and young Charles together... thats cute

McAvoy is a Trekkie?

I like him already.

Kerry could definitely play a modern day Storm, but....It's clear that this movie will have at least a few scenes in different times...

Lovely picture of James and Patrick! :yay:
James is certainly a Trekkie. He has talked about his love for Star Trek, and Sci-Fi in general, in many interviews. So it must have been really a great moment for him, to receive the Bafta from Stewart.
It would be nice if Patrick could give James some tips on his turn to play Xavier! ;)

Omg, only some news like this to bring me back from my X-exile! Hey danoyse! :woot:

Hi! Welcome back! :woot:

James McAvoy is amazing! I've been following his career since I saw the guy acting in a mostly unknown film - "Inside I'm Dancing" - and he never let me down.
It was an amazing surprise, I really didn't expect this at all. But I'm so glad he's doing this!

Me too! He's a terrific choice.

Hi! Welcome back! :woot:
Thanks! :woot:
Nice to see you're a mod now! :cwink:

Me too! He's a terrific choice.
James is wonderful; his casting as Xavier came totally out of the blue, but as a fan I'm getting used to his modus operandi - he's not an actor who has a long list of future projects on IMDb, but the good thing is that he puts a lot of effort and heart in everything he does. I'm sure James will be a fantastic Xavier!

Better bring yer hanky. :p It was a real tear buster.

Wow, I must be the only one who didn't like Atonement. lol.

Oh, I love Atonement too, it's one of my favorite films ever...I lost count of how many times I've watched it! :woot:
It's really, really sad, though...it's a tragedy, not a romance. But we can take this to the James thread so it won't go off topic here.
