I think it will blow over and tatum will still be gambit even if the production is pushed back for whatever reason

i don't know why anyone thinks Taylor Kitsch stands a chance of coming back, they would likely cast another actor then go for him which is unfortunate but that seems to be hollywood for ya

If he does leave, I'd be very curious to find out why. There is little chance the studio or Tatum's agent would be honest about it.

It would be the standard response. Scheduling conflict, spending time with family or creative differences. No one in HWood tells the truth. It's always a lie to cover up whatever reason it really is.

True, though the truth usually eventually comes out. Just look at the Trank situation.

Man, am I glad I didn't drop major coin on a copy of Uncanny X-Men #266. Channing Tatum is, until I'm proven otherwise, not suited for this role. Count me as a member of Team Gaspard.

Channing is a workaholic and does film after film after film. It was most likely a scheduling conflict.

While I'd be all for Taylor Kitsch to reprise his role, they simply can't ask him because it would just be too awkward.

"Hey Taylor, I know we tried to replace you, but can you uhhh...play Gambit again?" - Fox Exec

Fox will probably replace Tatum with Jai Courtney or with whats his faces name from Clash Of The Titans

Maybe we should wait and see what's happening before we start recasting. For the time being, Tatum is still attached.

Maybe they got it wrong and they're scrapping the solo film for a new future X-men film featuring Gambit

Yeah this is curious, a lot of sites have reported that he walked away but The Wrap article doesn't say that .

Yeah it would be awkward... but its a lead role for a X-Men film. I can't see him turning it down.

 spending 150 million + on this is a huge risk, especially when he is yet to appear in an X-Men movie, which Origins was not.

Origins is still a X-Men movie, just a spin-off film.

I would love that however, there's already a director attached for the Gambit film and casting already begun.

They could just save X-Men 5 with Gambit in 2017 or 2018, after Hugh Jackman's last film in the series.

I'm mixed on Tatum in the role and so him leaving or staying is fine with me but I hope it works out for production and that there's no major changes or delays

At this point I'd be far more interested in this film if Tatum were to drop out.

This actually made me cackle like the witch I secretly am.

Anyhow, this is good news for me. I'd rather have no Gambit movie at all than have Channing Tatum as the star. I also doubt that he's trying to use the press to appeal for more money. Nobody wanted him to be Gambit in the first place, so that would flat-out fail. I do believe that money is the issue though. As in, he wants to be paid like a huge megastar and they are saying "Are you kidding?" His track record has been hit-or-miss. His star power is not as great as some of you would like to believe it is.

They could easily take that huge budget and make an original cast movie with Gambit too. They could take it just from where Days of Future Past ended and no 10 years after. It could be Jackman's final film too.

Ryan Reynolds isn't exactly box office gold either but FOX gave him another chance at playing Deadpool so they should do the same with Taylor Kitsch by letting him play Gambit once more.

Reynold's new Deadpool is very different from the X-men Origins version.

Kitsch would pretty much be a re-hash of X-men Origins...

... minus the fedora. :barf:

Besides that, people really liked Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson in that movie. It was one of the few highlights of the film. That was not the case for Kitsch and Gambit.

This news... Fantastic Four being released next month... This Fox Universe is dead on arrival. :funny:

I think that is premature. But Fox has indeed had a real problem and continues to have problems with anything that isn't a core X-Men film. I really really hope Deadpool breaks the trend.

Taylor Kitsch loved to play Gambit but he didnt care about reprising his role. Whereas Tatum is more motivated. he auditioned for the role before but he had not obtained it. Kitsch didnt ask to reprise Gambit's role, Tatum took the opportunity. now Fox chose him
