Sequels "Gambit" starring Channing Tatum? - Part 1

I like Tatum but I don't think he would make a good Gambit and even if he's cast it will not guarantee this movie will be a hit especially if the budget is $150 million. Yes 21/22 Jump Street and Magic Mike did well but their budgets came well under $150 million. Also just my opinion but if this film is made I think it would be smart of Fox to include Rogue and use her properly this time.

it was only really green lit because of tatum wasn't it?

Ant-Man was only green lit because of Edgar Wright.

If the studio cuts the budget in half, gets a great script, re-cast someone who fully embodies Gambit and pushes the release date back I can see a good Gambit movie making 300 m worldwide.

Losing Tatum could be a blessing in disguise.

What makes you think this film is taking the focus from any other X-property and why do you think a large studio like Fox can't focus on more than one property at a time?

Because they're focusing on Gambit now and not other projects?

I, personally, want Fox to focus on other projects instead of Gambit. That's it.

If Wright leaving Ant-Man didn't kill that movie why would Tatum leaving kill the Gambit film?

Ant-Man was further along in production. They were about to start filming. That makes scrapping it more costly.

Also, a director of Edgar Wright's calibre, while having a cult following, is not as significant in terms of getting things done as an A-List star. Especially in a studio like Marvel where the real power is with the producers. Not unless it is a true star director like a Quentin Tarantino or Martin Scorcese.

Maybe for fans but not for FOX

Tatum's A-list status is seriously questionable.

His action movies consistently flop.

There aren't any other projects for them to focus on and we have no idea if they have any interest in making anything other than what they have announced.

I don't know why people act like everything he's in is a flop. White House Down and Jupiter Ascending were duds and they flopped. Everything else has been good for him. He's gotten box office and critical acclaim for his roles. He is A list and he's done well. Getting him as Gambit was a great thing for this franchise. And a way of introducing a popular character. I was so pumped that this got off the ground and he's been there from day 1. Which to me seems stupid now if he leaves because he's been working on this role for ages. Also you could see at comic con he's slimmed down to get that gambit build and he's growing his hair longer too. He's preparing for the role.

I still think this is happening.

Yeah I think everyone has jumped the gun abit, by next week we could find out he is still attached to gambit

Maybe because his action movies flop and Gambit would be an action movie.

Stop trying to make Taylor Kitsch happen, it's not going to happen.

Nobody thought a Deadpool movie was going to happen either but the film has already been made. We can't assume that Taylor Kitsch isn't going to play Gambit again because he just might want to.

Wasn't this going to start filming in a month and a half?

Take out the two action movies he's been in and everything else has pretty much been box office hits. And Gambit is a comic book movie. Completely different ball game. I agree that action wise his two main big releases have been disastrous but they were stupid movies to begin with. Jupiter Ascending was the worst movie I've ever seen. I don't know why anyone got involved in that project. Never watched White House Down and don't plan to. I still think he's fine and a bankable star. Especially in a comic book movie. The combination should be a win.

Not sure it was ever his choice whether he played him or not

Seeing as he played gambit last in 2009 and then they only started moving forward with a solo the moment Tatum expressed interest... I'd say fox had no interest in Taylor kitsch

Rumor about Tatum possibly not being in this film= Onslaught of demands for Tyler Kitsch and different movies (OT cast, obviously).

Thank you for reminding me of the X-forums insanity.

You not heard Johnny hasn't had many or any box office hits for a few years now, he isnt quite the big attraction he used to be

Yeah. He has the cred though. Gambit wouldn't be too far off from Jack Sparrow or the pirate lad he played in Chocolat. An audition wouldn't hurt.

I don't recall G.I. Joe setting the box office on fire either.

They definately had production in early October. So they'll have to bump this to a later time and it will definately be cancelled.
