With Jackman, Jlaw and Fassbender leaving soon don't they need another reboot soon?

Fassbender said he would do more and Lawrence hasn't fully ruled out doing more

Although i imagine they put the young cast on a several film contract

The X-Men original cast is irreplaceable. No more stupid recastings,Anna is the only one.Rebbeca is the best Mystique,Famke the best Jean, and Halle the best Storm.I love Ellen too.

^ yeah, they're great & in their prime. Also, almost everyone wants to see Ellen Page come back.

I mean, you've got a 15-year-old franchise running and still making good money. It's rare to get to see the cast returning like this. Look at the positive reaction that Star Wars got with Han Solo and Princess Leah returning. If they can, they should take it as long as they possibly can.

...they've already been replaced. By the end of X-Men: Apocalypse the new team will have been in just as many movies as the original cast outside of Hugh Jackman.

They will be the definitive team after this one - why are people still questioning that and trying to delay the inevitable, the writings on the wall. It's a wrap folks! Time to move on.

We haven't seen other versions of Rogue, Storm, or Jean Grey.

It's easy to say they're the best when there's no one to compare them to.

1 or 2 of the OC could be minor supporting cast in new mutants but as far as a full team movie for them goes it seems unlikely

To be fair the pictures of Shipp as Storm have been better than Halle Berry's performances

Tye, Sophie, Alexandra, and Kodi are the future. Like SuperT said, it's time to move on.

well, there were also rumors of an x-force script, so for all we know, Fox's tentative projects are all up in the air.

Halle Berry would be sooo spot on for an X5 now. And she's iconic in the role. Shipp's great too : )

Why would they? Just recast when they leave. It would get ridiculous to have to reboot every time actors decide to move on.

I can only imagine this was close to what Bond fans went through. I'm seeing it with the young Han Solo discussions as well.

I mean they replaced Patrick Stewart, who probably resembles his comicbook counterpart physically more than any actor ever, with some Scottish dude that I only knew for playing a satyr. We can survive losing Famke, James and Halle and the only one I personally will regret not seeing more of is Page, because she had a JLaw explosion after X3 because of Juno.

Even Hugh is unfortunately irreplaceable. Life goes on.

A simple recasting is hardly screwing up continuity anyways.

But doesn't Gambit take place in the 80s? Correct me if I'm wrong but if that's the case then recasting Rogue would be throwing a big wrench in continuity.

They have an easy continuity fix because of DOFP. They should just ignore anything that happened to this point outside of First Class and the past sequences in DOFP. Completely wipe out the original trilogy, the two Wolverine movies, and the future sequences from DOFP.

Well yeah but that's kind of my point. Going forward, nothing matters beyond FC and DOFP except what they cherry pick. It seems like they are building a great trilogy on the back of one that was ran into the ground, which is fine, but playing fast and loose with continuity whenever it's convenient just isn't my favorite.

As long as the individual movies are great I could care less about continuity nitpicks. So far so good on that front.

Sad to see this thread turn into an "OT comeback thread"/reboot thread.

At this point, we have no idea. The only reason why people think it might be in the 80s is because of Origins and Apocalypse. Which means zilch.

I hope Tatum is really leaving this project. My top picks for Gambit are Matt Bomer and Timothy Olyphant.

They can still make a trilogogy with the original trilogy cast members minus Hugh Jackman. Include Channing Tatum and actors playing characters we haven't seen before in the mix and all is good.

Yeah however we already got younger versions of Mystique, Magneto, Beast and Professor X and imo the older version of those characters are superior especially when it comes to Beast/Mystique.

The actors playing the younger version of Nightcrawler, Jean, Cyclops and Storm could be superior to the older version however they are stuck in the past and will probably remain as students. I prefer those 4 as grown-ups in the present, teaching and possibly get their own mutant squad/trainees like what Colossus is getting in Deadpool.

its like having toad in DOFP and from how it looks he ain't coming back for Apocalypse so he was pretty much just a unrecognisable (apart from his powers) extended cameo

Continuity is pretty much a just go with it deal

There is also Angel who is (at least) 16, which means he was born even before they change the timeline.

Emma and Angel are really the only big ones.
