A solid choice, but his films can be a bit long sometimes, lol...
Hmmm, he has more misses than hits.
So it had to be Martin Scorsese to be up to your standards?
t:I never liked the pirates of the Caribbeans films, Every time I watch them, they entertain me a bit but nothing really goes through my head. They came and just went poof. While the Lone Ranger is only good in technical aspects. Like I said I only liked The Ring and I have no plans of watching Rango.
Well more people would have more faith in this if it was Marvel Studios making this. You don't earn the public's goodwill by having an inconsistent track record like Fox have with their cbfilms.
Doesn't say anything about how Gambit will turn out with Gore Verbinski at the helm. And Marvel Studios' track record is as inconsistent as any other studio's. But let's not get there again.
Yeah, Verbinski's unique sensibilities + superhero could be a really good combination. The Mexican, Black Pearl, Rango, Cure for Wellness/Ring - it's all in his filmography right there.Actually, he's a very good director. I'm not a fan of his Pirates sequels, but I definitely am of the first movie, The Curse of the Black Pearl, of MouseHunt, The Ring, The Weather Man, Rango and The Lone Ranger (which is, in my opinion, superior to his Pirates sequels, very underrated and another victim of today's herd mentality of the online film community). Haven't seen A Cure for Wellness yet.
Verbinski is a bold and visionary filmmaker (just what a memorable comic book adaptation needs), who has a knack for storytelling and entertainment and plenty of personality. With him at the helm Gambit could turn out to be lots of things, but uninteresting/bland surely ain't one of them.
This is awesome news!
