Sequels "Gambit" starring Channing Tatum? - Part 3

Gore was actually reported by some random Twitter account awhile back. Not that it means much at the moment since it's not even a done deal, but it's certainly not a bad pick.

A solid choice, but his films can be a bit long sometimes, lol...

Now I am very much interested in a Gambit movie. I assume after Cure For Wellness (which is a good movie by the way) flopping he needs a property. But one things' for sure, this movie won't be generic. Verbinski's the type of guy who can elevate this into something very interesting.

He's got quite the variety given he hasn't done a lot with half of them being those Depp movies. Genuinely surprised he did MouseHunt :woot:

Not sure what to think. Could turn out good or average.

so his catalogue includes a hit adventure franchise, animation, horror and gothic thiller? count me in!

There we go. Wonder if it was a Sneider scoop, can't recall.

Eh. The Ring was good, but never liked this other films and I didn't see Rango.

Hmmm, he has more misses than hits.

Actually, he's a very good director. I'm not a fan of his Pirates sequels, but I definitely am of the first movie, The Curse of the Black Pearl, of MouseHunt, The Ring, The Weather Man, Rango and The Lone Ranger (which is, in my opinion, superior to his Pirates sequels, very underrated and another victim of today's herd mentality of the online film community). Haven't seen A Cure for Wellness yet.

Verbinski is a bold and visionary filmmaker (just what a memorable comic book adaptation needs), who has a knack for storytelling and entertainment and plenty of personality. With him at the helm Gambit could turn out to be lots of things, but uninteresting/bland surely ain't one of them.

This is awesome news!

So it had to be Martin Scorsese to be up to your standards?

I never liked the pirates of the Caribbeans films, Every time I watch them, they entertain me a bit but nothing really goes through my head. They came and just went poof. While the Lone Ranger is only good in technical aspects. Like I said I only liked The Ring and I have no plans of watching Rango.

The only good thing about this is it could an eye candy with Gore's visuals but the story might not be remarkable. Though If Gore is confirmed this month, it would probably means this film is now gonna happen, good or bad. I can't see a third director dropping out.

Maybe the ultimate gambit is just dangling this movie constantly in front of everyone

"No, just Marvel Studios"

:o :woot:

Which is a shame. It's one of his best.

Well more people would have more faith in this if it was Marvel Studios making this. You don't earn the public's goodwill by having an inconsistent track record like Fox have with their cbfilms.

Doesn't say anything about how Gambit will turn out with Gore Verbinski at the helm. And Marvel Studios' track record is as inconsistent as any other studio's. But let's not get there again.

Really? Did they have a film that got a rotten rating. And we shouldn't talk about your person opinion as it has no bearing in public consensus.

since i have all 3 of Gore Verbinski pirates film and kind of enjoyed lone ranger
i see nothing bad in this news.

it flabergases me that wb and disney/marvel can do every character into film but god forbid fox does film on gambit who unlike many other x-men actuly has material to sustain solo story without X-men.

Yeah, Verbinski's unique sensibilities + superhero could be a really good combination. The Mexican, Black Pearl, Rango, Cure for Wellness/Ring - it's all in his filmography right there.

I'm also a fan of Dead Man's Chest and At World's End. They're pretty balls to the walls kinda fun. Verbinski could easily adapt the charming thievery aspect of the Ragin Cajun to the big screen.

I like Gore. The atmosphere, mood and visuals he brings to the table are intoxicating. The Ring is one of the better remakes ever. However I was very dissappointed with Cure for Wellness, it started promising but got too long and dumb.

I'm fine with this.
