that... was ****ing rough to watch.

Theon is about to start ghost killing mother ****ers.

If either of these happens, **** D&D. They have just decided to be idiots.

I really think you're letting your love of Sohpie and the character influence your opinion. Did you really expect that Sansa would never ever get hurt again? And why? Cause back in the Vale she walked down some steps all badass like in her nice self made black dress? Sansa is still Sansa, and she is still stuck in a game of men and revenge doesn't come without suffering. Nothing about this is out of line with the past 4 1/2 seasons of this show or its direction.

^exactly. its the first big 'shock' for me since Talisa being killed...the way she was killed.

Moon tea. There seems to be a theme of the children or younger generation suffering: Craster's sons turned soldiers, the Starks, Targaryen, Tyrells, Greyjoy...Makes me wish someone would come in and demolish the current system of Westerosi Essosi politics...

As much as I'm liking these episode does anyone else feel like this may be one of the weaker seasons we've had thus far?

The only story lines I've enjoyed have been Stannis/Jon Snow and Arya's to a degree. Everything else has been super hit or miss or just kind of meh.

Jon/Stannis, Winterfell and Arya have been more than enough for me to enjoy the season thus far. theres been some pretty great ****, faithful to the books or not, Winterfell has been ****ing awesome and painful.

I know. Some people were expecting her to fight back. With what? Her above average embroidery skills?

Ramsay is a psychopathic killer. He loves violence and would probably get turned on at the prospect of Sansa stabbing him. This is a guy who fought Iron Islanders while he was bare-chested.

If Sansa does get revenge it'll be through Reek or Brienne.

It's a sad side-effect of them killing off most of the really endearing characters.

Tywin (Best performance in the show easily and the most commanding presence in the realm)
Joffrey (You might not have liked, him but you liked to hate him)
Oberyn (One season wonder)
The Hound (He ate chickens)

The Martells, so far, have been the worst thing about this season. You can tell they were just trying to cash in on Oberyn's popularity, never mind the fact that Oberyn came off as a heroic badass and his daughters just seem stupidly evil (and poorly acted.)

They are all the same character at the moment. I wouldn't mind if the Dornish plot were changed to include political back and forth between Areo and Doran. I'm enjoying both of their actors this season.

I will say that Alexander Siddig is the best of the Dornish cast, though right now that doesn't say very much. He is normally a very great actor though.

I'm questioning the necessity of it. I can get behind changes to the source material if they work (and I have with this show in the past). But this, this just felt pointless and "shocking" purely for the sake of being "shocking."

And I think I've finally come to understand why so many people I talk to still don't like Sansa character. There's a predictable repetition to her misery, she really has no true agency of her own, and it's just gotten boring/cliché. If it weren't for Sophie Turner, who IS really good, a lot of people would have probably given up on her character a long time ago.

That isn't the point. The idea that Sansa would kill a Stark is ridiculous, as is the idea of her getting pregnant by a Bolton. So they either have her knocked up by Ramsay, and have a kid she shouldn't have. Or she aborts a baby, and does something no Stark would likely do. Not even Mr. Shock himself would do that. When you do something GRRM would probably shake his head to, its probably not a good idea.

And you act like this was the only possible way for her story to go, when in fact this is not where her story should be. I get change, I support most of them. Not when it fundamentally changes the character's arc.

Sophie is fantastic. She has been underrated in the role imo, and in her time to shine they have gone in the completely wrong direction. Unless this seasons ends with her lighting the candle and her stabbing Ramsay in his own bed or Lady Stoneheart showing up to rip Ramsay's throat out, they lost me.

Bronn cut himself this Ep. I wonder if [blackout] It was a poisoned weapon like Oberyn preferred. [/blackout]

I agree, but I would add Winterfell.

Agreed. But I figured this would happen b/c they're pulling material from the most boring book.

can someone summarize what excatly is diff from the books so far ? please use spoiler tags if needed.

Sansa isn't raped in the book, she hasn't even gone to Winterfell as of yet. It's a different character, who is forced to pretend to be Arya, who is married off to/abused by Ramsay. And honestly I didn't really even like it in the book, because it was pointless there as well.

I have read somewhere that there is another Targaryen alive? Is that true and when do we see him?

Yes Dany's nephew Aegon VI. He has a role in ADWD (the fifth book). Honestly I don't know if he's even going to appear on the show. They might "simplify" things by combining his arc with Dany's.
