Okay although he didn't seem to be much affected by it at this point. I'm hoping the show brings forth its own explanation because a lot of non book readers have been bringing it up.

Gendry is lucky he doesn't get the Littlefinger treatment

Magic is considered very taboo in this world, so using it would be looked down upon which is what Davos was getting at when he told Stannis victory would be hers if she went with them.

Some book info:

In the book, the shadow creature is used twice. The first time to kill Renly (which happens out of no where) and the second to kill Cortney Penrose, the castellan of Stom's End who won't let Stannis in because he fears for the safety of Robert's only recognized bastard, Edric Storm. The second time is when Davos smuggles Melisandre in. It's also suggested that she needs to the cave underneath Storm's End because it's protected by some magic.

In the 3rd book when Davos sees Stannis again, he notices he looks haggard and worn out, likely from the shadow creatures draining him.

I just realized Rickon was in this episode. He sort of snuck into the show.

Even though Theon is an ass, you can't help but feel bad for him. Everyone treats him like dirt.

Theon also reeks . . . :P

Emilia looked gorgeous in the last episode. Blue looks great on her.

they cant use the shadow much because it feeds off of stanis. if they abuse it, it will kill him.

So thats why Melisandre needed Stannis' sperm? It links the wraith to this world? :wow:

You should just clean your own ****, problem solved! ;)

Man, Robert must have really let himself go after the rebellion.

Some interesting fan art on the net.

Yeah, definitely. In his youth, Robert was a badass. He was big, strong, clean shaven, the guy every woman wanted to be with (and many were). In his prime, he was the greatest warrior in Westeros. The Mountain is considered the strongest now, but a young Robert would have beat him. His warhammer was so heavy, Ned Stark couldn't even lift it.

But his rebellion may have been the worst thing to happen to him. Lyanna Stark was his one true love (though she didn't fell the same), with her dead, he never really had the same passion anymore. He got his revenge by killing Rhaegar and won the Iron Throne. He really had nothing to strive for after this so he let himself go by eating, drinking, and ****ing.

It's not adamantium though.

But that's the only benefit of still living with my parents :csad:

It's good to be the king.

Seriously, Robert was able to hold the kingdom together for 17 years which is more than I can say for his immediate successors. So, he perhaps is better than some may think about the character.

Robert didn't hold the kingdom together, Jon Arryn did. The only good Robert did was stay alive to keep every other family or person from making their power move for the throne. He had the loyalty of the Starks and Arryns and Tullys by proxy, was bound to the Lannisters by marriage, and kept his brothers' ambitions in line. Arryn appeased the Martells and the Tyrells weren't going to rise up on their own, especially Renly gave them a means to grab power. The only real challenge was dealing with Balon Greyjoy's ill-conceived rebellion.

Robert was fit to win the throne but not rule it, he was fortunate to have Jon Arryn to do the latter. I forget if it was in the books or I just read it elsewhere, but Robert should have been born a Dothraki.

I kind of find the valyrian steel design a little goofy. I've seen video of the hammer and the front sort of looks like a waffle maker.

I know it's a fantasy but the idea of using a weapon that man as strong as ned can barely lift is really bad war strategy. As strong of robert is after carrying it all day and a few swings his arms would still be tired as hell and shaky.

This what some actual mediveal war hammers looked like:

The part about Ned being unable to lift it was to emphasize how ridiculously strong Robert was.

Valyrian Steel runs all their designs by GRRM who knows a lot about medieval history. For example, with Needle, they originally thought it would be a rapier. But GRRM said that the smith never would have seen one in his life and instead would have made it as a small longsword. Besides, these are display pieces, there should be some unique flair to them even if it makes them impractical for actual use.

On the other hand, how good of a king was Robert when his entire kingdom collapsed the same day he died.

Though it's not an easy place to rule, that's for sure.

If they where to ever do a GOT prequal I would love to see them do a movie or series based on Roberts rebellion. HAving not read the books and going by what's been seen on the show this would be the most interresting backstory I guess you could say.

I am a big guy (6'5 tall) and 10 pounds isn't a lot for me I might be able to weild RB hammer

The only downside with Arya naming Tickler as the first of her three victims instead of Chiswyck like in the book is that we won't get to see a badass moment that Arya would've in ASOS.
