He has vitiligo. I saw a profile on him a while back on some TV show (I thought he looked familiar, the moment I saw him on this "Dark Knight" segment). If you go to the station's site at www.myfoxdetroit.com and read his bio there, you'll see mention of it.

He actually does wear dark brown makeup, as much of the pigment in his face is gone, but not as evenly as in his hands. Without the darker brown makeup, his face is quite splotchy and uneven.

I imagine, at some point, his entire body will look like his hands, and he can stop with the makeup.

Google Image search "Lee Thomas + vitiligo" and you'll see how he appears with no makeup.
