The Dark Knight Rises Gary Oldman - "We start shooting next year. You didn't hear that from me"

there was going to be one. but the company making it didn't do **** to it. They pretty much didn't know how to make a game. It wasn't garys fault. There was going to be one

I can't believe they wasted the opportunity for a TDK video game. I am also displeased they never came out with a TDK comic/graphic novel.

Those films are in production and ahead of the BB3 on every level. Ever thought of that? The world does not revolve around Batman movies. Sorry to break it to you.

uh yea i did thought of that, the last potter film was pushed back so why couldnt they do it again, and if you look at TDK's track record its WB best reviewed and top $$$ maker. it would be crazy for WB to think its some other film in their library.
sorry to break it to you but WB has Nolan's batman on high priority

Look i'm the biggest Nolan/Batman supporter out there. Having said that, I doubt WB is going to push EVERY other movie aside simply to make room for Batman III. PLUS, when you consider the outside competition with 3 MARVEL films being released that summer, it just doesn't make sense for them to rush Batman III out there in such a crowded market.

2011 IS packed.

Green Lantern
Thor
Captain America
Spider-Man 4
Ghostbusters 3
Harry Potter 8

2012 makes more sense.

Pushed back to fit into the summer. Only Potter 7.2 is already in the summer slot last time I checked. Maybe WB will stop filming half way through and put Potter 8 off for a year to rush Nolan into fitting BB3 a year before Potter... :whatever:

Oh that's not the reason... many Batman fans would want BB3 to be released the same weekend as SM4 or any other Marvel production... heck... GL for that matter.

Well lets just say that if its greenlighted, 2011 will be the release.

Which of course from a business standpoint makes abosolutely ZERO sense.

Those are the only 6 i've mentioned that pertain to our specific audience. OBVIOUSLY, there's gonna be more than 6 movies released that summer. :whatever:

But in regards to those mentioned, that's 6 movies in the span of 3 months (May, June, July). You make it sound as if they'll have the entire year to release these films. Newsflash, these are SUMMER films. That's 6 films in 3 months, a release possibly every 2 weeks. AND you want to squeeze Batman III into that timeframe?

I'm willing to bet that Batman III will not make as much money as TDK. But they wont be helping their chances if they release the film in a market where there will be 6 other genre films going after the exact same demographics as them.

the mayor from the dark knight is set to be on G4. Maybe some more batman news!?!?

The Hype for Batman Begins 3 is bigger than the rest of those movies you listed . Spiderman is coming off of bad word of Mouth . I just don't see it Spiderman beating Batman at the Box office

But Spider-Man 3 was still a box office hit...so there is still an audience there.

There's a pretty healthy group of people that'll be anticipating these films come next Comic-con. These films will make a dent in Batman III overall financial success.

I'm just saying, why rush it? 2 years is rarely enough time to punch out a quality sequel. Take you're time and if you're gonna want some competition, wait til 2012 and throwdown against the Avengers. That'll be an EPIC showdown.

do you all realize how long we are going to have to wait? :( 2012 is a long ways away.

Now, does that jive with the fact that Oldman said they'd start shooting next year? Even if they waited until November or December 2010 to start filming, I don't see what would take a whole year to film especially if the next one is supposed to be on a smaller scale.

TDK was a very long shoot, with an equally lengthy post-production time schedule. It is highly doubtful the sequel to TDK would be anything short of epic in scope. That'd be a disastrous decision.

Especially for a summer movie, a sequel to the biggest film of the decade.

i can't see WB having the patience for batman 3 in 2012. You'd think they would want to get it out as soon as the can. Gosh darn you nolan and your silly inception.

They'll do anything to appease Nolan. You think they'd risk losing him as a result of impatience?

Actually the main problem now is that Batman 3 (and the other DC projects) are facing a MARVEL company who placed its pawns first: whatever they do they WILL face marvel:cwink: An obstacle both TDK and BB didn't have to face at all, then the need of a global strategy wasn't really urgent !

On the other hand the variety article (excellent btw) asks a good question: is it really necessary to come up with some sort of emergency plan when taking time to develop their stuff allowed them to release movies of a better quality like the Batman franchise ?
:cwink:
