The Dark Knight Rises Gary Oldman - "We start shooting next year. You didn't hear that from me"

OMG, Gary Old-'THEE absolute'-man has just proved once again why he is the coolest living human of all time!!!!!!

Guys, I reckon, behind the scenes, the 3rd Batman film has been in the works easily for the past year - the basic storyline is prob set, though with Heath's passing, they most likely made/are making adjustments.....in my humble estimation, it'll make a '12 release.

Just so thrilled to hear Oldman is a definate return.....come on Bale, Nolan and co., it's now yer turn to say somethin'....

i dont think so..i mean..didnt oldman also say TDK game was ready to roll? hmm..what happened...i'm not doubting his liability or anything. just saying....

Now when Jett says "keep your eyes on the trade" does that mean expect an announcement?

like we said earlier, there WAS going to be a TDK video game. The company behind the game just didnt make any progress on it, and they scrapped the project. It wasn't Garys fault.

I hear ya, but that fell through - at the time though, his info was correct - as of now, I guess, it sounds like the plans are to begin official work on the next Batman is next year, but of course, it's all liable to change! :yay:

they didnt even ask Uslan about Batman, wtf?!?!?!?

That's odd. They must have been told to avoid Batman 3 at all costs.

Now when Jett says "keep your eyes on the trade" does that mean expect an announcement?

When Jett says anything I pretty much do the opposite. He might have insider info but the way he presents himself makes him seem like a waste. He probably means that if an announcement is going to be made, then it will be made via the trades.

very true.:brucebat:

this is a very upsetting day. I was at least expecting SM4 news. And the Batman 3 news is being turned down now. I am really hoping for an announcement from WB sometime this next week.

Yea im not believing this until theres more official confirmation... And to be honest I hope it isn't true. It seems too rushed. Especially if Nolan is coming back. I also hope its released in 2012. 2011 is way too packed.

is it too good to be true though? it might not be... but im betting it is.

Exactly my thought.....I still doubt if Nolan is coming back (hope I am wrong). If he does then I can breathe a sigh of relief as I trust in Nolan to make a film I will enjoy and be happy to add to a short list trilogies I love from beginning to end. I'm not expecting him to top TDK if he comes back though.

With Green Lantern in 2011 (as well Spidey 4, Thor, Caps and possibly Deadpool), it just seems more likely 2012 at the earliest.

Those are the only 6 i've mentioned that pertain to our specific audience. OBVIOUSLY, there's gonna be more than 6 movies released that summer. :whatever:

But in regards to those mentioned, that's 6 movies in the span of 3 months (May, June, July). You make it sound as if they'll have the entire year to release these films. Newsflash, these are SUMMER films. That's 6 films in 3 months, a release possibly every 2 weeks. AND you want to squeeze Batman III into that timeframe?

I'm willing to bet that Batman III will not make as much money as TDK. But they wont be helping their chances if they release the film in a market where there will be 6 other genre films going after the exact same demographics as them.
There are 3-5 somewhat big movies being released every week the whole year.

Even if 1 movie did make a difference, so what? We'd have one more movie to see. Isnt that a good thing? 2007 was packed as fudge, and I loved it!

Don't hold your breath. There will not be a Batman movie in 2011. It's just common sense. Look at WB's slate for that year. They are good to go for 2011. Nothing is getting moved around, that's just wishful thinking. Expect the next Batman in 2012. Anyone who thinks a Batman could come out in 2011 is not paying to attention to what is going on in the film world.

Look i'm the biggest Nolan/Batman supporter out there. Having said that, I doubt WB is going to push EVERY other movie aside simply to make room for Batman III. PLUS, when you consider the outside competition with 3 MARVEL films being released that summer, it just doesn't make sense for them to rush Batman III out there in such a crowded market.

2011 IS packed.

Green Lantern
Thor
Captain America
Spider-Man 4
Ghostbusters 3
Harry Potter 8

2012 makes more sense.

Exactly!

Some of you need to calm down. Getting the 3rd Nolan Bat film in the Summer of 2012 is just fine and by taking their time with the production, we will most likely end up getting a better film because of it.

Patience is a virtue folks!

Now this is pretty dumb:

Yesterday Jett was all excited bout Gary's comments. Now it looks like he is backpedaling too:

I think that Chris and co. have all signed on for BATMAN 3. I think Gary had a WTF?! moment at Comic Con. I also think that there's NO WAY IN HELL BATMAN 3 goes in front of a camera in 2010 and is released in 2011. I think production starts in early 2011 and hits theaters in the Summer of 2012.
Chris' two Bat-Flicks have both started filming early the year prior to their release. He'll be working on INCEPTION -- which IS NOT BATMAN 3 GD-it -- 'til mid-2010. Really, there's no way he'll start B3 up in the latter part of '10 and be done with it in time for a '11 release months later.

IF Chris has indeed signed on for another go-around in Gotham, my friends over at Warner Bros. should just go ahead and announce it.

Like I said last week on the message board, make sure you're keeping your eye on the Trades.

even that schedule seems a tad too long, depends on what you call "production" but a shooting and a post prod in one year and a half :huh::huh: and if production means "start working on the script, get the locations and the casting" I think, according to the various statements of the cast, some of these are more or less well underway (and can be done fast) .....

2012= senior year summer. that's crazy to think about. Lets hope some things aren't true about 2012 too :( lol

Jett's problem is that he tries to sound like someone in the know when he isn't. And on the very rare occasion when he's right, he's the 1st one to jump around and rub your nose in it.

I like how he calls everyone at Warner Bros. or Nolan his friend. I wonder when the last time Jett got a invite to a BBQ at Nolans house

gary oldman's getting killed TT-TT

I went and saw The Da Vinci Code the summer after I graduated from High School. What a disappointment that turned out to be.

pff topic but i hear dan brown worte the script, and it woulda turned out to be a like, six hour movie....

Wow, it was about 2 and a half hours too long to begin with. I like his books but the movies have been crap so far. Looking forward to his next book out in September though.

Oh and Batman is cool. (now we're not off topic :cwink:)

agreed. except, though A&D had TOO MUCH creative control by howard, i still liked it enough. and yes, batman FTW!! :woot:

haha nice. but summer 2012 will be the summer after a graduate. So it will be a weird feeling becoming an adult that summer and seeing batman 3.

thanks! i know what you mean. i will be 21 when batman 3 comes out..wow..21:wow: lol

Heh, take a few semesters of College and you'll quickly realize there is absolutely no correlation between graduating from High School and becoming an adult.

I'm just glad all these movies are coming out before the apocalypse (dec 2012) . Batman 3 will probably be the last movie i see in imax .
