That would be a good storyline to use and a nice tribute to Carrie Fisher.Oscar Isaac recently said that the story deals quiet a bit with Leia's death and paying homage.
It's got me thinking that the drive of the film's plot will be Leia's death galvanizing the Rebellion and inspiring the galaxy to unite and over throw the First Order. I think it will shake everyone out of an apathy. Her death essentially being a shot of NOS into the veins of the people that werent there for her when she needed her allies the most on Crait.

Stop. He won't be retconning jack (the Luke stuff, "random Rey", I doubt he messes with that). Wouldn't surprise me if he leans into the Rose character a bit more either, more of her rather than less.
