Ghost Rider 2 In The Works - Part 3

If the movie is a big box office hit but a critical failure in the theaters and to comic fans, this could spawn a potential sequel. If it fails, Marvel gets the rights and most likely won't use it for a very long time.

Which is worse?

A third movie. Because I'll most likely be disappointed a third time over. You'd think I'd learn my lesson and leave the Ghost Rider franchise, but I keep coming back to it.

yeah, you keep coming back to a one movie franchise. Sequel isn't out yet. Once we get to 3 films, and there's a fourth, you can say that. :o

I mean come on, they can make real life CGI dinosaurs and puppet dinosaurs for $93 million (JP III), I'm sure they could manage a decent GI Joe flick.

And again, look at GR 2, on a $50 million budget, so far, the effects look pretty damn good. Especially the "moutain cutter" or whatever it is that GR uses in the trailer :D

Ghost Rider himself looks MUCH better in this film than the first one GR and the budget is 60 million dollars less.

As much as I like Marvel Studios, I have to say the latter is by far the worst scenario for Ghost Rider fans.

Here is the poster art, textless.

that poster is better then every poster for the first movie

Some other ways to say Spirit of Vengeance (using a e-translator):

Italian: Lo Spirito di Vendetta

Spanish: El Fantasma de la Venganza

Dutch: De geest van Wraak

German: Der Geist der Rache

Portuguese: O espírito da Vingança

For sure. If the budget is around $50-60m then I think it could make that back domestically plus some. Toss in WW and it's highly possible a third GR gets made.

If it falls back to Marvel, as much as I like what they've been doing, their stated public remarks seem to have Phase 2 of the MCU being more mystic(Dr.Strange) and cosmic(rumors of Nova and Guardians of Galaxy).
The street level "Marvel Knights" characters, like Punisher and Blade which they've gotten back, are going to sit idle a bit longer. GR would as well.

I would like to see Ghost Rider in a film alongside a few other street level Marvel heroes though, that would be awesome.

I have a strong feeling that any more of the street level Marvel franchises like the DareDevil movies, Blade movies and perhaps Ghost Rider films will all be Marvel Knights productions.

Just saw the 3D Ghost Rider trailer with Underworld 4. Wasn't as good as I hoped. The best 3D part was when the name and '3D' rolled out and the chain pulls it back. Crowd was whispering the whole time, somebody yelled 'What the F did I just see?!' out loud.

Surprisingly, Resident Evil 5's 3D was great. People liked the twisty commercial in the beginning. Underworld 4 was great, especially if you liked part 2.

Glad to hear Underworld met your expectations. I'm seeing that tonight!

As per usual I will check out GR, RE and even tonight's UA in standard 2-D.

I honestly and truly do hate 3D. Luckily, the theatre at my house always has a 2D option for the big ones in 3D, and rarely carries the smaller films (like Ghost Rider) in 3D.

Looks like it'll be a weak weekend for the B.O., kind of like what Ghost Rider faces. Red Tails will likely bomb, and Haywire will probably get mediocre returns. Underworld should be a good barometer.

I'm stereoblind, so 3D does nothing for me except cost me money and make the screen darker. :P

I'm hoping Ghost Rider will do a little better than Underworld 4. I think it'll have the same audience as Underworld, plus it should have the regular comic fan audience. And even though it's not a Marvel Studios' film, it's still a Marvel Knights (co-production).

I'm sure there are those out there who don't quite understand Marvel is making their own movies now.

To the average film goer, it may appear that it's another Marvel film in the long line of films dating back to Blade, X-Men and Spider-Man

There's all sorts of little pluses and minuses each series have. Kate Beckinsale is way, way hotter than Nicolas Cage no matter how you look at it. That's got to count for something. I think that Ghost Rider looks a little less direct to DVD in their commercials though. Who knows... we'll probably get a good feeling for GR's B.O. in the next couple weeks.

BTW, Underworld 4 was a definite hard R. Why are vampire and werewolves R while the living spirit of vengeance, sent from hell to destroy sinful people and suck out their soles considered PG-13?

I just saw it too. Yeah, super violent. Apparently Ghost Rider is PG-13 because (A)He has to be for his budget (although Underworld's budget must have been pretty high, what with all the lycans jumping around) and (B)because apparently he kills tons of people with fire, which doesn't up the rating to R. And WOW does the 3D for ghost rider look terrible. Seeing that one in 2D for sure.

Blood.

Apparently, according to Neveldine/Taylor, burning people and turning them to ash gets you around a PG-13. And we've already heard there's cursing, lots of violence and a few F-bombs dropped; but we still get a PG-13.

But blood and gore really is a staple of vampires and werewolves. So that's a big reason for Underworld 4 R-rating
