Ghostbusters 3 - Part 1

If there is a GB3 and the original cast are involved, as much as I love these guys, I do not want to see a bunch of 60 somethings, in the entire film, running around trying to act like they are in their mid 30's still.
I'd like to see some kind of handover to younger team members, perhaps getting Dana`s son in on the action as a team member, maybe the leader. With the original team still being around in a helping out capacity, but one which is vital to the plot/story.
Perhaps even getting them to take centre stage in the climax, because the new recruits are somehow overwhelmed by the unfolding events due to their being a bit green. The old guys step up to the plate, defeat the monster. New York is saved once again.
But the original team don't want to keep doing this and at the end officially hand over to the new guys, saying something like, "we're always around if you need us...but you're ready now."

(Along the way, kill Venkman, so that we get Bill Murray to reprise his role one last time)

Then the ground is laid for GB4 to have fresh blood only.

I know there's not much specific detail above, but hopefully you get where I'm coming from.

I wrote an almost identical post earlier, but with a little more detail. Again, I say add the characters from Extreme Ghostbusters to the mix. Then the originals retire to strictly administrative/mentoring roles. I don't know about killing Venkman though, unless that's Bill Murray's condition for returning to the role.

Jay Pharoah from SNL could play Roland. He reminds me of a young Will Smith

At this point, I'll just settle for a new Ghostbuster cartoon. Just as long as it's not CG.

I don't necessarily agree. All of the cast of the original Ghostbusters (with the possible exception of Ernie Hudson) were really big stars before Ghostbusters was made (Bill & Dan especially, being SNL elumni). So Mila & Chris can play the new recruits and be the next generation of Ghostbusters.

And so what if no one remembers Wilmer Valderama? How many other Latino comedic actors that are in their early thirties who are even the least bit well known can you name? The character of Eduardo is a sarcastic Latino. Wilmer hasn't done much since That 70's Show ended, except for hosting Yo' Mama, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't be great in the role. (I was thinking of suggesting John Leguizamo, but he'd be too old for the role by now.)

Chris Pine is good at both humour and action. Like the way he played Kirk in the Star Trek reboot. Only difference is Garret Miller is a paraplegic. He's not so much the group's leader as he is their inspiration. Their heart & their backbone. Pine would be good at that.

Kylie Griffon is a totally hot goth chick. Mila Kunis is totally hot and has naturally dark hair (although she'll probably have to dye it jet black and add purple streaks). She can easily pull off goth. I've seen her do funny, and I've seen her do dramatic. She does both very well.

Whatever fame these three have should help the film, not hurt it.

And I still haven't found a black actor for the role of Roland Jackson. Any suggestions?

Anyway, whether or not they coast on their reputations or whatever depends entirely on the writer and the director. With the right combo, no professional actor with any sense of pride would dare "phone it in".

At this stage of his career, I just can't see Chris Pine as a new recruit. The man is Captain Kirk and Jack Ryan, he's too leading man now.

I still think you're high in regards to Valderama.

Kunis may be the only one who could work here, but I still hear rumors of Eliza Dusku.

Frankly, you have too many pretty people in your cast. Ghosbusters worked because it looked like three average joes starting an already shaky business in a recession. It felt real and down to earth. This movie wasn't a studio oriented movie, meaning they were largely left alone during the production. That's my main problem with GB II. It's too glossed over and polished from a production standpoint.

I want a GB III more in line with the first movie.

If you do get a female in the mix, she can't be insanely attractive because it kind of takes away from the average joe thing. I would get someone like Sweet Dee from It's Always Sunny or something like that. There are lot of chicks in the industry right now that are not that hot but are pretty popular.

Or they can basically do the Anchorman-style of casting: three ordinary schlubs, one fair-looking guy and a hot chick.

Oh, give me a ****ing break:

The Hollywood Reporter has a brief update on the long-in-the-works Ghostbusters 3:

Any decision on Ghostbusters III, the long, long gestating sequel, has been postponed until the end of March — this after Men in Black 3 writer Etan Cohen was paid a huge sum for a script. Shooting was to begin next summer but now couldn’t start before fall at best.

A previous report said Ivan Reitman would return to the director's chair. Dan Aykroyd previously confirmed that the plot will revolve around a new generation of Ghostbusters and hinted at the states of his and Harold Ramis' characters.

"My character, Ray, is now blind in one eye and can't drive the cadillac," he said, "He's got a bad knee and can't carry the packs... Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that's the promise. We're gonna hand it to a new generation."

The fall start would probably still allow the third installment to open in 2014, which is the original film's 30th anniversary.

I guess the back slash to no Bill Murray is holding things up

I dunno how official this is since it's from "super official news" but here ya go:

Murray Signs on for Ghostbusters 3

Hollywood, CA — Ghostbuster’s fans around the world are celebrating as it has just been confirmed that Bill Murray has signed on to do Ghostbusters 3.

For years it has been unclear whether Murray would be joining the rest of the cast, which includes Harold Ramis as Dr. Egon Spengler and Dan Aykroyd as Dr. Raymond Stantz, or even if the movie would ever be made at all. In September on the red carpet at “Hyde Park on Hudson” Bill Murray admitted there was another Ghostbuster’s script in the works and that he was considering it.

Ramis told reporters how he had received word that Murray was agreeing to the project. “Yeah, it was kind of crazy,” Ramis said. “Just out of nowhere, I get a phone call from Bill at almost three in the morning on Thursday and he simply said, ‘Yeah, ok, I’m in’. That’s Bill Murray for you. Surprising and straight to the point.” Ramis continued, “Bill also said a major factor in his decision to do the movie had been all the support he received from fans during his 29 city ‘Party Crashing Tour‘ earlier this year.”

26-year-old Kaiser Solzie attended one of the parties that Murray appeared at during the tour. “In Austin I actually got to talk with him for a few minutes, what a cool guy,” Solzie says. “I said Ghostbusters 3 wouldn’t be the same without you. He told me if he did decide to do it, I could have a role in the movie.” Solzie laughs, “Now that Bill is doing the movie I sure hope he doesn’t forget what he said to me.”

Paul Horner who is one of the co-writers that assisted Etan Cohen in writing the script had heard that Murray could possibly be a part of the third movie. “Word through the grapevine was that Murray enjoyed reading our script that was passed along to him a few months ago. As for if he was going to be a part of it, well that was the million-dollar question,” Horner said. “The writers, the cast, the fans… everyone is truly excited for this to have finally all come together.”

Ivan Reitman, who directed Ghostbusters 1 & 2, will return once again to direct this highly anticipated film. Returning stars from the original movie are Sigourney Weaver as Dana Barrett and it’s said Rick Moranis could come out of retirement to perform as Louis Tully. Possible new faces for the project are Ashton Kutcher, Seth Rogen and Vincent Kartheiser.

Shooting for Ghostbusters 3 is said to begin in the fall of 2013, but now with Murray on board, filming for the movie could start as soon as February of next year.

I don't buy it. Murray's been so adamant about not doing it for years, why would he suddenly turn around now? Guess I'll believe it when I see it.

I could see Seth Rogen doing it, but that other chap is just terrible in everything.

Sounds like a typical April Fools Day fake news.

Let's hope is true though.

It is or was, according to various reports.

dang you guys are gullible. did no one see the name Kaiser Solzie? hello that is a dead giveaway. fake news.

What the **** is going on now?

I just read the disclaimer on the "super official news" website...he's a parody news source hoping to get recognized by The Onion. BLASPHEMY.

False alarm, folks.

I can't believe you fell for that. I won't believe anything about Ghostbusters 3 until after I'm done watching it at the theater.

GB3? It'll never happen.
