Ghostbusters 3 - Part 3

Like I say, what makes Ghostbusters Ghostbusters is POV. If Ghostbusters is the original four guys, yeah, you're not getting that. But you weren't getting that anyway. If Ghostbusters is packs, wands, traps, PKE meters, a crazy cool car, containment units and catching ghosts (my POV), then nothing we heard so far makes this Ghostbusters in name only. You can be upset by the actresses or all female cast. You can be upset that if Murray, Ackroyd, and Hudson are in this, they'll be completely different characters. You can be upset at a different continuity. But I still think that anyone who claims this is a Ghostbusters in name only is making a grand judgment with no info. My opinion, I know, and an opinion in the minority at that (when it comes to original fans at least. My friends outside of fandom are very interested in this news).

I really believe that this film could be one of the most hilarious, scariest Ghostbusters films we have ever seen with all of the gadgets and lingo we grew up with, but many of us will cross our arms, kick dirt, say it's "Not my Ghostbusters" and completely disregard it. That would be a shame, really. But that's the nature of the internet and fandom in general.

I don't know... maybe it'll suck. If it does I'll go to the corner, peacefully, and mourn with the rest of you. But what if it's great? Then Paul Feig, of all people, will have paved the way for millions of new fans. Toss a coin, see where it lands, because the odds of either of those happening are 50/50. But right now, the franchise is far from doomed or guaranteed to fail.

Oh, look. Another Paul Feig "comedy" where Melissa McCarthey is fat and just rolls around and yells inappropriate things at people. How original.

Look, I'm a diehard Ghostbusters fan, and I will be first in line to see GB3 when it finally comes out. And I'm PRAYING Paul Feig has a few other tricks up his sleeve and can actually make a good GB movie. I thought Bridesmaids was hilarious, but Melissa McCarthey's schtick wore thin real quick. I appreciate good adult humor and I myself curse like a sailor... But that's not what makes a good GB film.

I don't know. I guess I'm cautiously optimistic because I love everything about Ghostbusters, but I think this is the wrong director and the all-female casting is just too much of a gimmick. But like I said, I'll be there on opening night.

I'll be at a theater a little while down the road from you in Durham.

Cautiously optimistic, too. The only worrisome news is McCarthy. All female and what not won't worry me as long as the story and writing is great and the new crew works well together.

Maybe they'll let her stretch herself a bit.

Give her an Egon-like role.

We can hope.

Here are your ladies:

Melissa McCarthy, who was already in talks for one of the leads, has signed on for the Paul Feig-directed reboot, and the studio is now negotiating with Kristen Wiig, as well as Saturday Night Live players Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Negotiations are ongoing but the quartet are expected to sign on as the specter-seeking, poltergeist-punishing and phantom-phollowing foursome in the reboot, which is eyeing a summer shoot in New York.

Kate McKinnon. I'm there.

Hope this turns her into a big star.

Yeah she's the one I'm most happy about. She's great in SNL. I'm meh on Jones but whatever.

Yeah, I haven't seen Top 5, and I thought Jones was funny in her Weekend Update appearance last season, but since joining the cast officially she's been a bit disappointing.

And look at that my interest managed to get even lower.

I still think Bridesmaids benefited from Wiig's amazing script, not Feig's direction. So that's why I'm not sold on him unless Wiig can polish the script somehow.

IMO almost a perfect female cast for a female Ghostbuster movie.

its 2015 so i find it problematic that hollywood still thinks that we like ot watch loud ''ghetto'' black characters. Leslie Jones was cast to act like on SNL. prepare yourself.

Wiig and Mckinon?

Wait, what? We have a talented cast of funny ladies and a decent director. How the heck is any of this a disaster?

Oh, internet.

Women are for looking at, not taking over our fanboy franchises. :o

I honestly will think this might be a decent movie. I think Feig is AWARE of the potential backlash.

I love Wiig and Like McKinnon. McCarthy is hit and miss at the best of times, and well I don't know the work of the other actress. I guess I will have to wait and see.

Between this, Indiana Jones reboot, and FF , fanboys will come to know January 27, 2015 as Black Tuesday. :oldrazz:

Oh, internet.

Because they don't have penises. If there's anything fanboys need in their movies, it's a TON of peen. :o
