Ghostbusters 3 - Part 3

How do you make a female Ghostbusters movie and not have Emma Stone in it?

I don't hate it. Wiig can be very funny in the right roles. McCarthy is good for slapstick. McKinnon is a comedic genius, what Wiig could have been. And Jones is funny in an odd way. I'd see this movie just for McKinnon.

McKinnon is Spengler.

Wiig is Venkman.

McCarthy is Stanz.

And we all know who Jones is.

People act like they're sick of the "shtick" from some of these ladies, but they forget that Dan Akroyd and others had a bit of a shtick themselves in the late seventies and early eighties prior to GHOSTBUSTERS, which oddly enough gave some of them a chance to play a different kind of role in many respects and gain broader appeal. That's what I hope for here.

But it cannot be denied that Hollywood comedies today are different than Hollywood comedies were then. There will probably be some slapstick and some fart humor. And if it's funny, I think that's okay as long as there's also some thought provoking stuff and intelligent action comedy to go with it.

Our worst case scenario became a reality. Couldn't be unhappier with the new cast. It is the absolute worst case scenario. I will not be watching it. Totally mindblowingly disastrous. Unreal. Un. Real.

Worst case scenario? I'm sure they could do much worse than four talented comedians. Yeah one is not everyone's cup of tea , but she's the most successful of the group and can be very funny sometimes. This just seems like overracting to me.

I'm not too happy they killed the original franchise indefinately , but it's too soon to tell if this will be ok or OMG!worst movie Ever!

That looks funny.

Paul Feig's next 100 films will likely star McCarthy

Maybe McCarthy is Slimer.

Has it been said that they're all Ghostbusters?

Might one of them be a ghost?

This just seems like Ghostbusters:MCCarthy & friends.

Stone casting was going to make this for me.

Moving on.

Wish they wouldve replaced Wiig and McCarthy with lesser known female comedic actresses to give them a chance to shine, but I like how they got the two other ones.

Emma Stone plays Sigourney Weaver's role. :o

What can Insaybthat hasnt already been said in the negative category.

I think the word you're looking for is talented. :o

How is this cast NOT talented? All of these women are proven comedic actors, three of whom have cut their teeth on Saturday Night Live. Leslie Jones started out writing for the show before they upgraded her to a performer. These women KNOW comedy. Kate McKinnon is one of the best cast members on the show in recent memory. Say what you will about the show now versus when it first started, it's still a major proving ground for comedic actors.

These women have all worked together in the past and have great chemistry with one another.

The fact that so many people's immediate reaction to this casting news is that the film is doomed to be terrible just baffles me, quite frankly, even the track records of everyone involved.

It's a shame that people will bash this film regardless of it's good or not. I'm at least willing to give it a chance.

Depends on what type of comedy this is. If they play it straight, and not "oh how ridiculous this is" it could work. That's what the original did.

McKinnon and Jones I can't speak for as I don't watch SNL, and Wigg is okay but nothing great from the stuff I've seen her in, McCarthy I've yet to find funny in any film she's been in. I actually have one of hers on right now and it's painful to get through. So no I wouldn't call her talented and Wigg's a big "meh" as far as I'm concerned.

And if your track record bit includes the director, that just gives me less faith in this project as the two I've seen from him, The Heat and Bridesmaids, aren't funny.

Is this a complete reboot with the same characters but now with a gender change?
