I wonder if it's a matter of Amy Paschal as usual being out of her goddamn mind to go along with Feig's idea and Tom Rothman making the call to okay this one. He's had a serious uphill battle turning Sony around since taking over in 2014. Hate the guy all we want, he is a meticulous businessman who managed to make Fox money while ruling the budgets with an iron fist. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt of not seeing the true potential for comic book movies before the likes of The Dark Knight and the MCU came about.

I would rather them cast adults. My first thought of hearing the story features teens is It, Strangers Things, Childs Play remake etc. Not that teens cant be funny but it makes me think they are riding that trend.

I mean just saying, Extreme Ghostbusters did have a pretty ethnically diverse cast. The only white male in the group was paraplegic. The female character was Goth. The other two males were Latin and African American.

Happy enough its set in the proper universe. That 2016 film was awful. I was all for female Ghostbusters film and everything, but that Feig movie was unfunny and ugly. Anything is better than that

This being Sony Pictures makes it automatic most likely to suck & fail. Like most of their movies anyway

The Sony Picture association automatically does most movies made by Sony Pictures no favors

When the trailers come out, then you can start to ascertain the quality of it, otherwise just saying it'll be worse than the 2016 film this early shows how you've made up your mind already.

I bet the story is basically the same as the first but with a couple of variations (e.g. like Force Awakens or Halloween 2018). That way you get the fan service in and people think they are getting something new when it's just new packaging.
