Gotham Gotham Season 2 ratings thread

This season IMO is already better than the 1st one and Fox really hasn't had a good show this year except maybe Empire but Sleepy Hollow is doing bad and Minority Report is doing great at all.

Gotham was down a tenth last night in the preliminary ratings. It scored a 1.5 with 4.21 million viewers.

The finals will be out later today.

That's a pretty mediocre result but Gotham once again benefits from other genre shows on the network like Sleepy Hollow and Minority Report absolutely tanking. Minority Report notched a 0.7 last night. Yikes.

I think we will have a better idea of if there will be a Season 3 when Supergirl debuts next week I think or is it in 2 weeks? I can't remember but if it drops below 1.0 when that happens than its unlikely for another season you never know though the only show that is pretty much killing it on Fox is Empire.

If it drops below 1.0 any time soon it's a goner no matter what.

But that's unlikely. Even if Supergirl eats into Gotham's audience I can't imagine it dropping that far before daylight savings time.

I hope they move Gotham. Monday Night football is a ratings King. The ratings would be much better on say a Thursday.

Considering the overall performance of the network there is no way in Hell Gotham won't get renewed.

Putting Supergirl in the same timeslot, however, is just a ***** move and will hurt both shows. I have no idea who thought that was a good idea.

Gotham got its usual 1.5 despite Supergirl getting a 3.1, so it doesn't look look like Supergirl will affect Gotham that much. Given the complete and total collapse of most of Fox's scripted shows this makes Gotham's renewal very likely.

It was actually up from last week, I was pleasantly surprised to see that.

I was very surprised that show held its own so well. It's well-deserved too, it's really improving.

Oh and yeah this one's getting renewed. No doubt.

These numbers are still very mediocre in a vacuum, but as has been stated many times, Fox as a network is a dumpster fire right now. Shows that would get axed in a heartbeat on NBC, ABC, or CBS are going to get renewed on Fox.

Gotham is safe for next season, and syndication economics dictate that Warner will find some way to get a fourth season out of the show too.

Fans don't have to worry about Gotham getting cancelled until at least two seasons from now. At that point I would hazard to guess that cancellation is very likely, but a lot can happen in two years.

I may be overly optimistic but I actually feel like this show is on an upward swing, narratively, and that this will see it getting better press, a stable viewer base and enough juice to survive for six or even seven seasons.

It's more likely than not to continue to decline on the whole. It saw week to week upswings at times last season, but on the whole it bled viewers all season long.

It's likely to be in the low 1s by the end of this season. Holidays, breaks, and daylight savings time mean that pretty much all shows do worse after the midseason break than they did before it.

Agents of SHIELD has seen a similar effect, and it too had a second season that was much better received than the first.

You may be right. However the case right now is that Fox doesn't really have a lot of shows doing well in the ratings. They'd have to cancel two thirds of their programming before Gotham would be in danger.

Again, weighing the pros and cons... my gut feeling is "six".

I'd say no less than three seasons right now. Six is too far to project.

I would not mind a flashback 5 years before or flash forward 5 years after the current time for an episode to show Batman or to better explain the Wayne family business at Wayne Enterprises.

I think the loyal viewers would love it, but casual fans might not appreciate it right now!

If they get three seasons, they will get four unless the network goes bankrupt.

Season 5 really should move forward in time, and feature Batman: Year One. They may have to recast Bruce Wayne, but i think the rest of the cast can move along with that scenario.

After Season 3 or 4 they definitly need to do a time jump. It all depends on how they feel about the ratings as to when it happens.

No, they don't. They have a projected nine seasons. This is a prequel. Doing a "time jump" and recasting David and Camren, who are both spectacular, would be the most idiot move of all time. A bit like recasting Octavianus in Rome when the original actor was absolutely stellar.

Side note the ratings rose to 1.6 even after being put fully against Supergirl. Nay-sayers, bashers, haters, eat crow. We're golden.

Just nine seasons?! Blah. They should keep going with this show well into Bruce's career as Batman . I'll stick around for that.

judging from this week's ratings where it went up slightly Supergirl Isn't going to kill
Gotham.

I don't think any of the people watching right now are going to tune out. The quality of the show is on an upward swing. I could actually see them gaining more viewers. Of course the winter break is always a test.

Gotham got 4.14 million total viewers with 1.5 in 18 to 48 demo VS Supergirl's
8.17's total viewers and 1.7 In Demo

Last week it was

Gotham-4.30 Million total viewers with 1.6 in Demo
Supergirl-8.85 Million total viewers with 2.2 In Demo

Gotham is holding up well against Supergirl while supergirl drops each week.
add to that Gotham is airing against dancing with the stars and the voice

Gotham is holding better than I thought it would. The season is still young, though. Last season all the breaks were when Gotham started losing ratings momentum.

Fox has scheduled Lucifer to air right after Gotham after the midseason break, so they'll have a DC block going on Monday nights. The shows should be pretty compatible and Lucifer should, in theory, hold Gotham's audience much better than Minority Report.

It's holding "better"? :D It's only down one tenth from the premiere. That's not "better", that's "astonishing".
