Gotham Gotham Season 2 ratings thread

Clever move, actually, announcing the renewal right after the expected ratings dip from the DST shift. In reality, of course, the show got renewed months ago.

Last ratings 1.3 as well. Was really hoping it could bounce back from the last week's low.

... And a third 1.3 in a row. At least that means we didn't take a hit from the Supergirl crossover. Or maybe we did. Who knows.

The show in season 3 needs BATMAN. I don't; care if it's a very early version of Batman or a flashback version.

1.2. Series low. My prediction went bust.

Another 1.2 for Gotham.

Lucifer grew out of it for a 1.3 last night, up 2 tenths from last week

Is Lucifer pausing tomorrow as well?

No. Strange that the season finale is not getting a lead in too. They must want to save an extra episode of Gotham for whatever is replacing Lucifer for the rest of the year.

I would expect next season that both shows get 22 episode orders and air every single one of them together. If X-Files comes back they'll air that during the break and try to use it to launch something new.

That's a damn horrid decision on FOX's part. It hurts both Gotham and Lucifer.

Over at TV By The Numbers someone had the theory that they wanted to see what Lucifer would do on it's own, it held it's usually rating for the finale without Gotham so it's pretty strong show.

I noticed that even though Gotham's live ratings have dropped a tenth, it's live _7 has held steady at 2.1 so it seems people are just DVRing it and not dropping it.

As their cancellation bear metaphor notes, you don't have to be first as long you aren't last :p
Not to mention TV across the board is down, Gotham is still in the Top 25 on broadcast for the coveted 18-49 demo.

Gotham scored 1.3 today in overnights. Amusingly, the same as Blindspot. It should be noted that this is with zero lead-in and zero lead-out effect. Gotham is literally the only show to watch on FOX that night if you don't count the abysmally rated Houdini and Doyle.

That's cool, it's up a tenth over last week. I imagine news of Jada's return was some publicity and hopefully good word of mouth for the last few eps too.

Apparently people don't :p

I don't think Jada's return either helps or hurts Gotham in the ratings. Also with their new incarnation I can't see her returning to main character status as in season 1. Final overnights stayed the same at 1.3.

Final FOX same-day vs. DVR rankings for 2015-16
http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2016/06/24/final-fox-same-day-vs-dvr-rankings-for-2015-16/

Live plus same day Gotham was #8 (including 2 days of American Idol and the special series of X-Files, none of which will be on next season) with an average 1.4

Live plus 3 days, Gotham rose to #6 with a 2.1

Live plus 7 days, Gotham remained at #6 with a 2.4

Gotham's Live+SD ratings were the same as Rosewood's 1.4 but Rosewood only raises to a 1.8 after seven days compared to Gotham's 2.4 after seven days. That was interesting to me as Rosewood is on before the biggest Fox show, Empire.

Also veteran show The Simpsons starts higher than Gotham with a 1.7 live+SD but then ends below Gotham with a 2.1 L+7. Family Guy also starts out above Gotham with a 1.5 L+SD but ends below with a 2.1 L+7.

It's pretty clear we're going to get at least a 4th season, but season3 will determine if this series has any chance of going beyond that.

Actually I think that season 4 will determine that.

I just binged watched Gotham in 10 days, I really enjoyed it! Wayyy better than season 1, Riddler, Penguin, Galavan, Selina and Bruce are amazing, Gordon sounds like Dean Winchester a lot.

Does studios take into account foreign numbers/copy rights etc?

Fox has shows like Bones which I think had very average ratings but it just kept going on and on? Wife watches it. So could Gotham end up like that on Fox? It does have a Loy's l base and it even dragged me back, I won't bother it's Arrow so that's something.

I wonder if tonight's episode will experience any substantial leadout effect from the presidential debate.

Nope.

1.2 rating, 3.54 million viewers

compared to last week:
1.29 rating, 3.897 million viewers

Next week things will be back to normal with Lucifer.

The fact that Gotham has aired one more episode leads me to believe Lucifer will get stuck with a repeat lead in somewhere down the line.

There were apparently some major issues with the airing of the show due to the presidential debate.

0.98 rating, 3.139 million viewers in the preliminaries

Lucifer again grew out of Gotham, hitting a 1.1

Gotham through three weeks
1.29 rating, 3.897 million viewers
1.18 rating, 3.537 million viewers
0.983 rating, 3.139 million viewers (preliminary)

I'm going to be so mad if Gotham destroys Lucifer's chance at a renewal

So Gotham is already going fractional. I wonder how it will do against Supergirl next week.

Supergirl will hurt box Fox shows. In some time zones it's against Gotham, but it's up against Lucifer in the Mountain Time Zone (and possibly Pacific as well, not sure).

And a 0.983 rounds to a 1.0, so it's still a bit above fractional.

Neither Gotham nor Lucifer is getting cancelled this year.

That said this is a disaster. I said that the first two episodes hurt this show and I got a lot of flak for it on social media but yeah, there we are.

No adjustment to the final ratings, minor jump in total viewers

1.0, 3.19 million viewers

As usual, will be a few days before the unrounded final number is out

Lucifer held at a 1.1 with a very small drop in viewers, at 3.67 million

I agree that neither show will likely be cancelled because Fox has bigger problems, but Lucifer is still a season and a half behind Gotham in terms of episode count for syndication. So it's not an absolute slam dunk.
