Halloween Movies Thread... - Part 2

Danny McBride said: “David and I are thrilled to step outside of our comedic collaborations and dive into a dark and vicious horror. Nobody will be laughing.

At first when I saw the headline of the article I wasn't so sure. But reading what McBride said above and what Carpenter said I'm down  McBride could be a passionate horror/Halloween fan like some of us for all we know. And if what they pitched to Carpenter got his approval, I'm gonna lean towards giving it a chance. I trust Carpenter.

I'm sure Carpenter was up for anything as long as the cheque is in the mail. Lol.

All jokes aside, I hope it's the fresh injection that this franchise needs.

I love McBride so I'm willing to give the guy a chance. I do hope this happens because from the aforementioned quote I can see he's taking it serious.

Fingers crossed, guys.

We need someone to make a Halloween trailer with M.I.A's ''Paper Planes'' song. :oldrazz:

Danny's got to get Goggins involved, right?

I feel like McBride and Green could write a better Halloween movie than Rob Zombie. But then again, they also gave us "Your Highness". :o

****, this is actually pretty cool. They must have had a cool pitch if these unlikely guys got the job. Them being from comedy isn't a problem at all.

I think people get too carried away when they look at McBride's involvement, but David Gordon Green isn't some slouch in the director's chair either. So this could be great.

Yeah.

All they have to do is..keep it simple. That's it. Also, don't try to hard reboot it. Just make another Halloween movie that COULD be connected to the pre-Zombie films.

I'd never want the H20 canon to reference 4-6. I want them to go back and either make a sequel to Resurrection and bring back the John Tate character, or make a sequel to H6. Problem I have with referencing 4-6 is H20 suggests other murders happened but not the specific crimes of those, in fact everyone assumes Michael has been dead 20 years. Even then, I can't accept Laurie would fake her death and leave a daughter behind and yet care so much about John.

Exactly:

-H20 very much implies that Michael hasn't been seen or heard from since the events of the original two films.

-Trying to mesh H20 with Halloween's 4-6, would make Laurie look like an awful person and an even worse mother.

-No Curse of Thorn crap please.

I mean it's a shame because then we don't have Danielle Harris/Jamie Lloyd in-continuity. But the costs of doing it far outweigh the benefits regardless, imo.

Well, you could eat a box of Alphabits Cereal and crap a better screenplay for a Halloween movie than what Rob Zombie came up with.

And "Your Highness" was hilarious. :argh:

There's really no point in connecting it to the original continuity. Just start fresh.

That's one of the problems the TCM franchise has. Save for the remake and its prequel, every movie wants to be a direct sequel to the original & it results in a mess of a franchise.

Best to just wipe the slate clean and go from there.

So it IS actor Danny McBride, yes? Because a tweet I saw made it sound like this was Underworld writer Danny McBride.

When McBride's name came up along with David Gordon Green, who both went to film school together and have been partnered up many projects ever since, no one is thinking of the Underworld guy.

I really want to be excited and I am but it's reserved excitement. I've just seen Friday the 13th fall by the way side yet again at Paramount and I've seen a new Halloween (3D & Returns) also fall by the way side so I can't get my hopes up.

Love this choice and couldn't be more excited. We have a new Halloween film hitting theaters in October 2018 just in time for the 40th Anniversary of Halloween!

McBride also has a role in Alien: Covenant. So perhaps he's on a horror kick right now?

I'll take anyone who isn't known for being current 'horror filmmakers/writers'.

I've been rewatching Eastbound & Down for the last few months. I love this guy.

That is true, but Blumhouse are no slouches when it comes to getting s*** done. They seem to care about the fans and the properties that they have.

Plus, they only picked up Halloween last year and this seems like good progress so far.... fingers crossed! :yay:
